That mobile trommel set up is awesome! Needs bigger wheels though.Makes me think of the treadmill I saw posted on CL and thought about scavenging for parts.

Doug from our group that passed away a few years back had 2 gutted treadmills to take away his tailings from his drywasher.
He built a stepped up adapter to connect them together.
He worked the same area for years and had a very impressive pile of tailings.
Some of his DIY equipment is still out at the site where he was working alongside his sitting chair as a memento of his passing too quickly.

Went out today to pretty much socialize with the group.
I set up my trommel to check the rock tailings that go thru jim and Betty's DIY bucket trommel to see if they were leaving anything behind as their tailings are a little dirtier than what mine look like.
Didn't see anything they missed so I got to process 5 buckets from the site they are working on.
I Got a few flakes drywashing, they got 3 decent pickers and a bunch or flakes from 14 buckets or 140 shovel fulls sluicing with water.
That's better than average for them, I pretty much just loosened up more material the rest of the time and got a few bigger rocks out of their way for their next trip out.
A couple guys on the next claim over got permits to bring in a backhoe.
Talked with him today and he said things were digging right along for about 45 minutes before he lost hydraulic pressure on the boom.
They had to drive the backhoe out from the claim to the mechanic at 5mph...work to resume in a few days.
It will be interesting to see if they make enough to pay their gas bill.
Picked up some trash on the way out of the desert today.
4 aluminum Budweiser ultra bottles an aluminum modelo light can and 2 plastic water bottles.
The aluminum goes into a storage can at home and will convert to PM's later.
I usually run the proceeds across the blackjack table and double my take.

I have been following Levi for a while on youtube. He's a prospector in Tasmania and he mostly dives for Gold in shallow rivers with basic equipment. I would truly love to be able to take a short drive from home and hunt Gold like this! Lucky man.
Being a water based Pirate who prefers to keep things simple I would be all over this kind of treasure hunting.
Anyway, Levi makes excellent videos with great camerawork, I really enjoy them.

Have you seen the guy who does dredging in New Zealand? Pretty cool videos...beautiful work too. Probably cold water, but that would be a decent life if you could go out and nab $3k every weekend.

Commenting on your previous post cold water isn't an issue, those big dredges have a hot water hose that constantly circulates warm water through the divers suits.

Sifted the drywasher cons down to +150 mesh and only found 5 small pieces of gold.
Will run the -150 later in the week when the daylight comes around again.
Hardly enough to weigh and no pickers.
We were only out 3 hours working time and probably 7-8 5 gallon buckets thru the trommel.
Lots of black sand, but that's not what were after.
Maybe a little shiney too.
Stay tuned...

Got my Arbor Fabricating 1/8 classifier today, took about a month. Worth it though it's built like a tank! This will really speed up getting sluice concentrates @ the creeks.
That'll keep them big nuggets from mixing in with the sand.

Interesting screen.
Most others are square holes, yours look more elongated.
I'd worry about throwing out those 1/4" and larger nuggets....but then again you have to have them to find in the first place.

Yep, men's wedding band. Big heavy comfort fit wedding bands pay the bills for this Pirate. Folks go into the lake and their body temp drops, their fingers shrink and their rings fall off. Women lose more rings but men lose heavier rings.
The best area to find 14k Michigan nuggets is in waist deep water at a busy beach.

I found my best trophy ring up to my neck in the lake in front of a high dollar resort. It was also during a record low water in the great lakes event.
Women lose more rings than men do, but they lose them in shallower water. For this Hearts on Fire diamond Platinum engagement ring to be so far out in the lake odds are good Sabrina had a hissy fit, decided she didn't want to be engaged anymore and threw it.
Matters not, it went to a wonderful new home with a great young couple from this forum!
