GOLD #22 2017

I gave the big lake beach and it's wonderful scenery a break today and hiked into one of my favorite old lakes.
It's a long walk so this time I tethered a float to my waist pouch to carry my stuff and some food and my camera.
Much better than carrying all that so far. And I had my camera!

Beautiful summer day and I scored a nice old 10 gram 10k school ring.

Thanks for looking! You too Smoothie!

Now that you know his name, it shouldn't be too hard to find him and return his ring - like a good Samaritan :)

50 years ago, graduated @ 18 yrs old puts him at 68 yrs old +/- one yr...

Shouldn't be to hard to find and there's got to be a story as to how and when he lost it...? If he's still alive??

Probably his ex gf tossed it in the lake decades ago?

School ring eh. What's the latest pirate policy on returning school rings?....

I have returned several class rings for kids still in school directly to the school after talking to the secretary and never gotten so much as one thank you email.
I have returned a very expensive wedding ring to a rich fecker in Lansing and he didn't even offer to reimburse me for insured priority mail. I have spent my time on alumni websites and not ever gotten a single reply, I must confess the returning abandoned property racket isn't very satisfying. People ain't worth shit.

Now unless you are standing there asking me to find you something and pointing to right where you lost it, I leave returning school and wedding rings to the professionals at ARA.

These are reposts from another forum, summer of 2015. I have mailed 2 more class rings back to schools since then and still never even a thank you. I will stick to throwing non Gold rings back into the lake from now on.

That 14k wedding ring is on it's way back to the person who lost it.

I talked to a lady at the lake yesterday (Lori) and she told me a story of one of her guests who lost a wedding band last summer. I gave her my card and told her to have the guy call me.

He described the ring to a T so it's on it's way back to him. I didn't ask for anything in return so we'll see if he sends me a reward.
Talking to the guy I don't think he believes I am going to mail him anything, he sounded kind of stunned somebody would actually offer to return something valuable like that.

BTW Lori can come out on her dock and talk to me anytime she likes!

I am not a good samaritan anymore. I returned that gorgeous gold wedding band to that rich fecker in Lansing and he didn't even reimburse me for the shipping.

A thank you note with a gas card? No. A $10 bill and a thank you? No. I got a hurried phone message saying thanks. I'm out $5.25 priority mail.

So this season I have returned 2 class rings and one wedding ring and for my trouble I'm out shipping on all three.

My friends that was it, the fucking end. I wasn't born cynical it took me years to hate damn near everybody in the fecking world.

Next time I find a fancy class ring that isn't Gold I'm throwing the fecker back. Right over the left shoulder for the next fool to find and return.

Next time I scoop up a lost Gold ring I'm going to lie. I strayed from the Pirate path and tried to be a nice guy. Not any more.

That is how a predominately controlled DEMOCRAT state's people act. "Give Me, Support Me" = YES. Government Aid ( = .Gov Control) = YES "Me Donate ? Me be Charitable ? I'll get back to you".

Funny you mention that, sir. That particular fecker in Lansing is not only rich he called me from a phone number that I googled and he is an upper faculty member at Michigan State University. His phone # took me right to the MSU webpage that listed his full name and position.

So he is not only a rotten cheap prick he a taxpayer leeching rotten cheap prick. . . :give finger:

I actually prefer hunting in the cold as long as it isn't windy. I have the gear for it and I would much rather be cool that hot.
I get really busy in the inland lakes in the spring and the fall because there isn't anybody around.
I leave the summer cottage and resort people alone from memorial day to labor day, before and after those 2 holidays the lakes are mine.

I am going to be taking my boat to a 135 year old resort area the day after labor day this fall. I am eager but still nervous to get in there, even though I'll be 100% legal you never know how folks will react. It could and should be an incredibly rich hunting area but you just don't know until you give it a listen!

I just had an evil thought. I should take my collection of deluxe junk rings and toss them around one of my favorite Lake Michigan beaches!
I bring them to work and let folks take as many as they want and I still have 2 or 3 dozen.
A lot of people metal detect the beach I'm thinking of and I'm sure some of them would be thrilled to find some good albeit junk rings.
Tungsten, stainless, cobalt, titanium etc all worthless but they look good!

I think I lost that peace ring in the second picture. It must have been in the late 60's cuz I don't remember the 70's. I believe I still have the tie-dyed tee shirt I was wearing when I lost it...or maybe it was underwear. No, those are just nasty skid-marks.

Nevermind

I told my friend that people are born with a certain amount of "give a fuck" and mine's all been used up. He thought that was hilarious. When we talk on the phone & I ask his reply is usually about half gone or was gone before I went to work that day.
When he asked me I say I've been trying to find it but think it was lost for good.

Sadly that is closer to truth than a joke. People that "DO" give a fuck are usually the ones that get bent over the most.

It's to bad that others may not get their items back because of these selfish people but it happens everywhere every day. Remember Irons it all melts the same!

I think you should save all those 'junk' rings, Irons. Ya never know when that sort of stuff could become trading material after TSHTF. Might be something that helps you survive.

Got over to the big lake today. The bikini wildlife was freaking gorgeous and the weather was nice too.
Got a few coins some junk rings and a big, heavy Cuban link chain! OMFG!! Heavy and hit a midtone like Gold!

Got back to my car a few hours later to check it and it's fecking silver. Pfffft. 31.4 grams of crap white copper.
Ah well if this was easy every fool would be doing it not just a few of us.

I could be wrong but it looks like you cleaned that silver brother.

Silver comes out of Lake Michigan looking like new sir. The water is incredibly pure with hardly any bacteria or acids.
Inland lakes it comes out flaky black.

It all comes down to reward for the effort. Silver sucks.

I think the moral of this thread is don't buy rings.... you will loose then & Irons will find them.
People should always wear their very best and heaviest Gold to the beach. It makes you look trim and sexy!
Heck, a comfort fit 16 gram 18k wedding band instantly takes 20 pounds off your midsection. Add a heavy 14k chain long enough to slip over your head and a matching loose fitting cuban link bracelet you'll look as fit as Bruce Jenner when he was winning the olympics!

Putting plenty of sunscreen on your hands is important, along with doing handstands in the water and throwing a frisbee or football around for hours.
Hanging your hands off a floating lounge in the shallow water is just fantastic too!
