Jerry Pournelle, the first author to write a novel on a computer

Science fiction author Jerry Pournelle passed away earlier this week after a sudden illness at the age of 84. He helped popularize the military science fiction genre with novels such as Janissaries and The Mercenary, but is also credited with a major milestone: the first author to write a novel entirely on a computer.

I enjoyed his Janissaries books and his Mercenary books. But I really liked his books written with Niven. Those were great. Niven had the techno and Jerry had the human factor.
Absolutely. 'Lucifer's Hammer' is still a fun read. Footfall was strange, in concept, but a good little novel.

The FedGov killed me. I was later resurrected.
That is serious stuff. I think this means that you still have important things to do here. If your life was a "non player character", you would have been gone. But there is a plan of some kind, and you have a part in it. I have had many "saves" in my life, and I can only conclude that I need to do something important at some time. No idea what or when. And sometimes life is easy, sometimes it is harsh, but it seems ready to rescue me when needed. Do what you can, and know that what you do is important.

Interesting, interesting. Could you share some details with us? Or have you posted [somewhere on this forum] about it already?

I remember reading it all as you posted it. Quite a remarkable story, it was. Most of the time, when the government kills you, they just leave you dead.

It may be in a place you cannot see, I didn't want to post it too publicly as I posted redacted documents as well.

Well, kudos to the VA, they are the ones who informed me I was dead, they resurrected me, and they pointed the finger at the actual killer, who tried to worm out of it.

And it's no doubt another case of a government employee who will get away with attempted murder and there will be no justice. Typical.

No government employees had any type of negative action against them due to my false and unexpected and undeserved premature death. After all, I'm just another pleb.
