Last year I put in for the old folks tax relief, aka "Homestead Exemption".
Didn't really notice a big difference for the not the whole year.
Today I got the tax bill for the city (don't have county yet).
It is the JOKE OF THE DAY for me lol

Back in early 2000's I asked a New Jersey resident how much his property tax was on his mcmansion. He told me over 20k.

I also asked if he ever was going to pay off the place, he said no because the value could differentiate with time.

When I got out of the army, my brother tried to convince me to move up in Northern Illinois where he lived and built houses.
Same kind of property taxes as the east coast. I explained to him, hey, if you build me a house and give it to me free of charge, the property taxes would be more than my retirement check on a annual basis. Dooming me to wage slavery forever. Thanks but no thanks!

Not saying the guy is hurting. He payed his dues and worked since a youngster. Now his office is sometimes poolside.

That's certainly not the only tax bill you get, is it? My combined county taxes for my undeveloped lake lot in MN is more than 100x that.

Bud: I got my vaccination. I am now protected from the virus.
Lou: Not me. No one’s gonna jab a needle in my arm.
Bud: You must.
Lou: Why?
Bud: To protect me.
Lou: From the virus?
Bud: Yes.
Lou: But I thought you said you were vaccinated.
Bud: I am.
Lou: You’re protected?
Bud: Correct.
Lou: From the virus?
Bud: Yes.
Lou: So, I don’t need a vaccination.
Bud: But you do.
Lou: Why?
Bud: To protect me.
Lou: I thought you were vaccinated.
Bud: I am.
Lou: And the vaccination protects you?
Bud: It does.
Lou: So, I don’t need to get vaccinated to protect you because you’re already protected from the virus by the vaccination you already got.
Bud: No, you must get the vaccination to protect me from the virus.
Lou: You mean the vaccination doesn’t work?
Bud: It does work.
Lou: If the vaccination works and you’re protected from the virus because you already got the vaccination then it doesn’t matter if I don’t get vaccinated.
Bud: But it does matter. Because if you don’t vaccinated you can give me the virus.

Lou: This doesn’t makes any sense.
Bud: But it does make sense. Why don’t you understand? Besides, you are required to get the vaccination, whether you like it or not.
Lou: What?
Bud: Everyone in America must get the vaccination.
Lou: Everyone?
Bud: Everyone. Except for a few people.
Lou: Who?
Bud: ALL Members of Congress (crooks); ... White House (crooks); ... US Courts (for crooked voting & vaxx) ... US Post office (for crooked voting)

I was in this outdoor waiting area this summer, waiting for my order number to be called with a dozen other people. They called up order number 867 and my mind automatically clicked in and I replied out 5309
nobody laughed
I felt old

For those of us born after 1950 would you care to fill us in? Last 4 digits of a phone number or a locomotive number?
OK Jessie's girl!

I thought that was like the chick magnet song they all loved.

If I remember right they put some kind of recorded message at that number. After all the calls of course.

another one

"634-5789 (Soulsville, U.S.A.)" is a soul song written by Eddie Floyd and Steve Cropper. It was first recorded by Wilson Pickett on December 20, 1965 [1] and included on his 1966 Atlantic Records album The Exciting Wilson Pickett with backing vocals by Patti LaBelle and the Blue Belles. The single reached number 1 on the Billboard Hot Rhythm & Blues Singles chart and number 13 on the Hot 100 singles chart.[2] The phone number 634-5789 is a reference to the Marvelettes' 1962 hit "Beechwood 4-5789".[3]

and

"Beechwood 4-5789" is a song written by Marvin Gaye, William "Mickey" Stevenson and George Gordy. It was a 1962 hit single for the Motown girl group The Marvelettes on Motown's Tamla subsidiary record label.
