Governor of Wisconsin is ordering the closure of all non-essential business starting Tuesday.

I believe Minnesota will not be far behind.

Are liquor stores deemed to be essential businesses?

Keeping with the title of this thread, wife is out of work starting 10 minutes ago. Her employer is giving anyone that has worked there for more than 30 days two weeks paid.

Marijuana stores are open in Florida, but most beaches are closed. Will need to veg out in front of the tv or listen to music on the couch.

Waiting to hear from corporate if we are deemed essential. We are in IL but not in parts of PA, CA and OH. TBD. We are doing the equivalent of "take-out" for taxes.

  • The United Auto Workers union has asked the Big Three Detroit automakers to shut down production for two weeks.
  • UAW President Rory Gamble said Ford, General Motors and Fiat Chrysler haven’t been willing to pause production.
  • A task force meeting between the UAW and Big Three is scheduled for later Tuesday.
Big 3 said no. GM offered 84 months 0% financing.

If they shut down the ripple effect on there suppliers will be devastating to their suppliers they have already beaten to death!
Big 3 auto parts supplier here and I'm laid off as of Monday.

They just ordered the sex shops closed here in Quebec. Bastards promised that essential services would be maintained.

Sorry to hear that, I cannot believe how many $50,000 trucks our local "dealer" has in inventory. They have two additional lots and one they bought or are renting from the small mall that is barely open. They just sit there all day every day and I don't think I've seen any move. Of course I also suspect this business of doing some shaddy dealings with insurance as they made up a date that they "fixed" their warrantied repairs for a deer collision. Never going to do business with them again.

So much for going for a drive around town.
Yup, allowed to go to and from work, the grocery store, the pharmacy and necessary health care visits. I don't have any family members needing care outside of my residence. I can pick up take out food and liquor though.

Want to see the shit hit the fan? Put every alcoholic in a fair sized city into withdraws. Bars are closed so they're already hurting.

At least our idiot governor allowed Michigan people to go outside and do stuff. State, township and county parks and walking/hiking trails are all open.

Liquor and pot stores here are essential ... Gatherings of more than 2 people can be fined up to $1000.

Ohio added 135k to the unemployed this week so far. Up from 5 k the week before.

This stay at home order also says that you are ok to leave the state? WTF.
Fortunately I have a lot of spring cleaning to do out back. Lots of piles of brush to burn. Started today. Some friends coming this weekend to help.. Gonna fire up the smoker and have some big bonfires.

GL with anyone trying to fine me on my own property.

As expected, it sounds like Minnesota is about to join WI. Govt. Walz expecting to announce a shelter-in-place order at 2PM today.

My employer will be seeking an exemption due to the "court-ordered nature of our work" (legal administration).

Of course the 1,000,000 dollar question is: will liquor stores be exempt? whistle: Details to emerge shortly.

Liquor Stores are exempt over here but some have gone to carside delivery only due to narrow aisles or other reasons social distancing cannot be done safely.

I wonder if my little liquor store will be doing that. Not sure if I will find out, probably will be stocked up enough for the duration. For me it's not the end of the world if I run out of beer but I wouldn't be happy about it. :)

Safest to err on the side of caution.

New rule, new rule. Baker called it. It is declared hereforth that reusable grocery bags are banned and stores must supply free of charge paper, single use or compostable plastic bags.
