Man who allegedly killed cellmate: "There's one less child molester"

Frederick Patterson III

Last Updated Feb 3, 2018 6:14 PM EST

MARIANA, Fla. -- Florida authorities say an inmate who killed his cellmate last month while awaiting trial for killing another cellmate in 2015 is now in solitary confinement. Frederick Patterson III said he killed his 82-year-old cellmate Arthur Williams on Jan. 15, and told correctional officers that "there's one less child molester on the streets," The News Herald reports.

"When asked about this, Patterson replied because Williams likes kids," officers wrote, The News Herald reports. "Patterson said Williams told him stories about touching kids during their time as cellmates.

Patterson, a 21-year-old convicted burglar, was sentenced Thursday to life in prison for killing 45-year-old Scott Collinsworth, a convicted robber, in the Apalachee Correctional Institution.

Patterson now faces a first-degree murder charge.

"Patterson stated after the attack he placed Williams' charge sheet and a picture of a prior victim in the back of Williams' pants," officers wrote, The News Herald reports. "Patterson was very matter of fact and smiling throughout the interview."

Williams, who allegedly tried to lure a 9-year-old boy into his car, had been ruled incompetent 10 days earlier and was being held in the Jackson County Correctional Facility awaiting transfer to a mental facility.

Wow. Who would have guessed this person would do humanity such a favor?

Perhaps the guards that put the guy in the cell with him?

Before you hurt yourselves patting yourselves on the back ... remember this guy isn't an angel. He's a thief to start with, and now a double murder. While I agree child molesters need to stop wasting air ... it wasn't his place to do it. He was in jail for his own crimes. He's no hero.

Thank you.

He was judged by his peer [fellow crim] and then after conviction by confession, the sentence was announced and duly executed.

I still think the guards provided him to the court in full knowledge of what would happen.

Don't think it is normal to put an old guy [82 years old and prowling for children to molest] waiting for transfer to a mental hospital in the same cell with a young [21 years old] soon to be convicted cellmate murderer. Note also they do not mention WHY he killed his previous cellmate.

"Patterson stated after the attack he placed Williams' charge sheet and a picture of a prior victim in the back of Williams' pants," officers wrote, The News Herald reports. "Patterson was very matter of fact and smiling throughout the interview."

Now where would he get the charge sheet AND a picture of a prior victim? Was the 82 year old carrying around a picture of a prior victim as a trophy? The guards let him keep such a photo?

Whole thing seems to me to be a case of the guards not wanting this one to slip out and do this again. Patterson was already facing life, nothing to lose. Perhaps the guards made a few promises, who knows?

Sounds like Williams goaded Patterson into it.

Once again forced to dig deeper. Here is the original story without key [IMHO] details left out like the CBS story. Also it seems the documents were more than as described in the CBS story. Note the papers he stuffed in the back of the pants of the Canadian pervert had written on them the jail house slang for child molester, one was about the first guy he killed and the other was about the second. Somebody provided those documents to the killer in full knowledge of what he would do. The "picture of a prior victim" he put in the back of his pants, it seems, was not a picture of a child abuse victim but the first cellmate the guy killed. I guess reading is fun-de-mental but clear reporting would help as well.

Frederick Patterson reportedly labeled the two men he is accused of killing “Chomo #1” and “Chomo #2,” slang for “child molester.”

MARIANNA — A man convicted of killing one cellmate and facing a second murder charge for killing another allegedly targeted at least one of the men because he was a child molester.

“I killed him, I killed him and now there’s one less child molester on the streets,” officers quoted Frederick Patterson III as saying after they found his cellmate Arthur Williams dead Jan. 15.

Patterson, 21, was convicted Wednesday of second-degree murder for beating to death a previous cellmate, 45-year-old Scott Collinsworth, in October 2015. On Thursday, Circuit Judge Christopher Patterson sentenced him to life in prison with no chance of parole. However, he still faces a charge of first-degree murder in connection with Williams’ beating death, which would carry a minimum additional sentence of life in prison.

Patterson had been serving a five-year stint in October 2015 when he attacked Collinsworth and beat him to death in an “ambush-style attack” at Apalachee Correctional Institution in Sneads. Williams, 82, was similarly beaten to death Jan. 15 at Jackson County Correctional Facility.

Collinsworth was serving a 15-year sentence for robbery. Williams was behind bars on charges of aggravated stalking and enticing a child into a vehicle. However, police reports indicate the two killings had the same underlying motive.

According to Marianna Police Department reports, officers arrived about 2 a.m. Jan. 15 to find Williams face-down in the men’s shared cell in a large puddle of blood. Williams was pronounced dead at the scene from “catastrophic blunt force trauma to his face,” officers wrote.

In the back of Williams’ pants, officials reported discovering two sets of documents. The first contained a picture of Collinsworth with “Chomo #1” — jail slang for “child molester” — scribbled in blue ink at the top. The second set of documents contained a picture of Williams, similarly headlined “Chomo #2” in blue ink, officers reported.

After being removed from the cell, Patterson agreed to speak with investigators about Williams’ death. He reportedly told them the two men had been cellmates in maximum security for about two weeks, and he had planned to kill Williams the entire time.

“When asked about this, Patterson replied because Williams likes kids,” officers wrote. “Patterson said Williams told him stories about touching kids during their time as cellmates.”

Patterson went on to say he prepared for the killing by hanging a blanket around the window and door to the cell early in the day so staff would be familiar with it being up. He laid in wait until after the 1 a.m. security checks, when he believed Williams would be asleep. Patterson then dragged Williams out of his bunk, stomped on his head, slammed him repeatedly into the concrete floor and continued to beat him after he appeared to be dead, officers wrote.

Officers noted that Patterson — blood on his hands, arms and stomach — then drank some water and waited about 30 minutes for the next security check.

“Patterson stated after the attack he placed Williams’ charge sheet and a picture of a prior victim in the back of Williams’ pants,” officers wrote. ”... Patterson was very matter of fact and smiling throughout the interview.”

Williams, of Ontario, Canada, had been in custody since October after a 9-year-old Jackson County boy reported a man had tried to get him into his car after he got off the school bus. The child then saw the same car repeatedly in the days that followed, with the driver “looking at him, and would wave at him as he slowly passed.”

Williams was deemed incompetent to proceed on Jan. 5 on the charges of aggravated stalking and enticing a child into a vehicle he faced, but an order transferring him to a state mental facility was pending at the time of his death.

Patterson is scheduled to return to court in April in connection with Williams’ death. He has been placed in solitary confinement.

Even more found!

According to the complaint filed against Patterson by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement in the 2015 death, Patterson admitted that he beat Collinsworth to death, saying he did so after Collinsworth exposed himself.

Patterson reportedly said he’d struck Collinsworth repeatedly with his fists, feet, elbows and knees, continuing to do so after the fellow inmate had lost consciousness.

Maybe Patterson was molested as a child & could not fight back at the time. Everyone has their reasons.

I'm starting to see the wisdom of the old Irish cops in NYC and the way they handled some of the problems by finding body's floating in the morning.
Yes everyone deserves due process. So I ask.
* Eric Holder..... guilty of gun running to affect the second amendment. Guilty or not? How much of a trial does he deserve?
* BJ Killinton..... guilty of rape? Involved in drugs when governor? Arkanside? Death list? Guilty or not?
* Killary Killinton...... missing files? treason? colluding to overthrow an election with bernie? Bengazi? The list is endless..... Guilty or not?
* Comey..... cover up at the highest level. Guilty or not?

Does anyone want to lay bets on how long Dr. Nasser lasts in prison? Assuming he gets there someday. My guess is that he'll fade away and appear as a brief piece on page 8 in a few months.

Professur, I hear you but to steal a quote from the movie, The Chronicles of Riddick (2004), this says it all and is very apropos: “In normal times, evil should be fought by good, but in times like this, well, it should be fought by another kind of evil”

I wouldn't mind if they were all placed in a holding cell while waiting for trial. Set this freak in there with them. Let him know last man standing gets the code to the gates and a 3 hr headstart.
