Where to park money? I’ve come into some and I honestly don’t know. I don’t like the stock market but it keeps defying gravity.

It is of course hypothetical as I have not finished a system, but software these days is pretty accurate in determining the amount of sun your panels will receive and produce.

As soon as you turn your system on (assuming you have a space to place panels without a lot of shade) the electric bill reduces. If your area has net metering, you can zero out you bill entirely. Here we do have net metering, and in the example I gave, it would be a 15%/year return.
