I live on the Oregon Coast. My 27 year old son lives near. We both live in Motorhomes. We adopted my son from India when he was a year old. He is very bright and holds a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration with an emphisis on Finance. He has not been diagnosed but probably has a touch of Asburgers Syndrome . No one will give him a chance in his field because he is dark skinned and born in India. We have always lived in small(under 50,000 pop) cities. He is overlooked because people think he is a muslem or he does not have experience just a college education. He will do anything and has been working part time retail jobs since he got out of college. (over 4 years)He is not afraid of work and would make a great employee He was near a 4. student and has a high IQ with a memory that is unbelievable. He is currently pushing carts at a Local Fred Meyer Store. He wants to work in an office but no one will give him a chance. It is a terrible waste of education. He could really help someone build their business. He earned a 500 dollar scholarship in high school so the summer before he entered college he took an online real estate course and then passed his exam with a score of high 90's. He has not been able to use it either. If you would give him a chance email me at buyers@peak.org

My sister has one of those diploma things and she sometimes goes through a temp agency, it is called getting your foot in the door.

Actually I do know that she has used them in the past.... don't know if she still does...seems to me she has been surfing couches for a while.....but hey what do I know?

I have a college degree. I could never find a decent job. Picked up trash for a few years. My life changed when I found HVAC. Im back in school for HVAC and have one year left (two years of night class). It went from where could I find a job, to what do I want to do. People come up to me for jobs, not the other way around. This worked for me, but may not be for your son, but its an idea. Welding is the same. Im taking summer welding classes and just about every kid there graduating has a job. If he is smart he would do well in the trades. There are all sorts of jobs in the trades that nobody thinks about, estimating, sales, job supervisor.

And they never will. One of my degrees is a BBA. It's useful for when a job requires "a degree".

Finance is not your son's field. The days of being trained at University, then working in the field of your degree ended in the mid 90's.

Skilled trades is where your son will blossom. They are good for people with things like Aspergers. Get him hooked up as an apprentice somewhere. Screw the mail room at some office. People with Master's degrees are filling those jobs.

The number of people who can actually fix stuff is rapidly declining due to the recent "every kid goes to college" socialist program. Fixers will be in high demand in the coming years.

In this market you must be willing to move to where the jobs are, overseas included. Any language skills? Any military service ?( a huge plus). Can he get .gov clearance? ( no dope, no record, obtain a basic clearance),Second passport?... if eligible, pay up, get one, and maintain it. They are becoming a gold mine. Many US companies are looking for people that do not need expensive work visas in their foreign offices. If he can get one, I will supply further information. Lastly, get registered and a resume posted here:

https://www.usajobs.gov

Do not be scared by the thousands of jobs here, the more interesting ones are listed as "Overseas Private Investment Corporation".....yeah, OK....

Good luck, stay positive, and enjoy his company.

I'm assuming he wants to stay near home, but if he doesn't there is plenty of work in the Louisville KY area, plenty of non-whites and immigrants working here in good jobs, does not seem to be a problem if you can do the work. Also Fort Knox has jobs at times, but a Bachelor's Degree is not enough normally, you need that plus experience or an advanced degree. Cost of living not bad at all if you work in the city and live just outside it. Best wishes to him and best of luck.

He should look at small to medium venture capital firms.

Should aim for an unpaid intern position to get in the door and show them he's hungry, smart and valuable. These sort of positions get into the 6 figures in 3-4 years.

If he can read a P&L and analyze a CIM, he can screen the zillion of potential deals saving the decision maker's time.

take one year and get a process technology degree. hire into oil company at refinery or chemical plant as process tech (operator, they hire them by the dozen). base pay about 80k...easily top 100 if want to work a little OT. once inside, decide if want to put in for office jobs...or stick with p-tech

cherry point, right up i-5, would be a good target

Could also start his own business...?
Did you say he has a Real Estate License ? If so hang a shingle, buy some business cards and thumb tacks to hang BCs on community bulletin boards.

Best of Luck,

Interesting reading the responses......try this: it is written in the world's most published, most translated, most read book in the world.

"Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them."
Mark 11:24

What do you have to lose? Nothing, everything to gain.....

"And so he did only a few miracles there because of their unbelief."
Mathew 13:58
