“Fumes Never Smelled So Sweet”: WSJ Reporter Details Nightmarish Road Trip With Electric Vehicle

shutterstock_1082414501.electricvehicle-930x620.jpg

A Wall Street Journal reporter did what journalists are actually supposed to do – investigate a story and report on the truth. In the case of Rachel Wolfe, she discovered first hand how inefficient electric vehicles are and how poorly our infrastructure is prepared to support them.
In a column for the Journal, Wolfe laid out the myriad issues road tripping with an electric vehicle. Namely, unpredictable (and often shorter than expected) ranges, finicky charging cords, stations that do not live up to their advertised charging speeds, and as mentioned, a grid not at all equipped to service fleets of EVs presented just a few major roadblocks to a successful journey.
The Blaze reacted to Wolfe’s story, headlining their story with Wolfe’s own admission that “fumes never smelled so sweet.”

“Frequently, they were forced to make changes to their charted course and pre-planned schedule due to unexpected battery drains along the highway. In the end, Wolfe said she and her road trip companion, Mack, spent more hours waiting to charge than they did sleeping.”
Sounds like a nightmare. Wasn’t the American experience built on freedom-inspiring road trips to nowhere? Now, people have to plan spending more time waiting than moving.
During the course of writing her story, Wolfe was informed by a Kia spokesperson that the range of electric vehicles can be impacted by the average highway speed, altitude changes, and total cargo weight. As was discovered in a blustery Virginia night, the temperature also plays a major role in determining whether or not an electric vehicle functions. In other words, your car’s performance is unknowable – and good luck finding an extant, let alone halfway decent – charging station.
Ironically, the push to make everyone “go green” for the health of the planet – at the cost of freedom, affordability, and desire, no less – both Wolfe and The Blaze noticed that the extra long wait times for a charge at one misleading, underperforming station after another inevitably led to sitting around eating junk or fast food.
The Blaze wrote:
“Worse, during lengthy charging waits, EV drivers are often forced to kill time at nearby convenience stores or fast-food restaurants. For Wolfe and Mack, this meant consuming considerably more junk food than advisable.”

In other words, the acolytes of John Kerry and Greta Thunberg want the planet to get healthier but not you. How much more proof do we need that these environmentalist religious zealots hate people?
Given her entire experience, Wolfe could barely proclaim that electric vehicles are ready for widespread adoption.

The Blaze ended with a bit of tongue-in-cheek celebration of the one aspect of success.
“On a positive note, the pair spent just $175 on charging in comparison to the $275 they estimated they would have paid in a similarly-sized gas-fueled vehicle. However, ‘That $100 savings cost us many hours in waiting time,’ Wolfe clarified, adding, ‘that’s not the whole story.’”

Police on Thursday fatally shot a man trying to forcefully enter an elementary school in Gadsen, Alabama.
The potential intruder went to several locked doors trying to get into Walnut Park Elementary School before police shot him dead, according to Gadsen City Schools Superintendent Tony Reddick.
And Joe Biden is opposed to “hardening schools” in the aftermath of the mass shooting at an elementary school in Uvalde, Texas.
Republicans have pitched measures to beef up security at schools such as single point of entry, fencing, metal detectors and armed security.

Joe Biden and the Democrats are pushing back on the security proposals because their goal is to ban guns.
Responding police officers engaged the intruder before shooting him dead.
No children were harmed.
The identity of the intruder has not been released at the time of this publication.
AP reported:
A person who was trying to enter an Alabama elementary school where a summer program was being held was shot to death by a police officer Thursday morning, authorities said.
Etowah County Sheriff Jonathon Horton told The Gadsden Times that a police officer from nearby Rainbow City was working as a school resource officer and encountered the person, got involved in an altercation and called for backup, Horton said. At least one other officer responded and the person was shot to death.
No students were hurt, sheriff’s officials said. “All kids are out” of the building, Reddick said, and most didn’t even realize something had happened.
“We don’t know the potential of what could have happened had those two officers not responded the way they did, so we very much commend them for that,” Reddick said.
Authorities didn’t immediately release the identity of the person who was killed or any details about the altercation, including whether the person who died was arme

or why they might have been trying to get into the school.

Authorities arrested 31 members of the white supremacist group Patriot Front near an Idaho Pride event Saturday after they were found packed into the back of a U-Haul truck with riot gear.
The men were standing inside the truck wearing khakis, navy blue shirts and beige hats with white balaclavas covering their faces when Coeur d’Alene police stopped the U-Haul and began arresting them on the side of the road.
“They came to riot downtown,” Coeur d’Alene Police Chief Lee White said at a news conference.

All 31 were charged with conspiracy to riot, a misdemeanor, White said. The men were going through the booking process Saturday afternoon and are scheduled to be arraigned on Monday, he said.

What is going on in America today?
Seems like a war on poultry to me. Birds of the world need to unite and keep shitting on the DC politicians heads until order is restored. God knows American patriots (which birds laughingly refer to as 'wingless humans') won't lift a finger to get to the bottom of this!

DHS to level violations against border agents caught up in ‘whipping’ incident

Multiple horseback border patrol agents who were accused of “whipping” Haitian migrants last September will be disciplined by the Department of Homeland Security, according to a report.
A federal source told Fox News that in the coming days DHS will offer proposals to discipline the agents who then have the chance to defend themselves. The charges will be “administrative violations” and not criminal, which the agents were cleared of earlier this year.
Images at the US-Mexico border showing federal agents on horseback in Del Rio, Texas, attempting to stop migrants from entering the country provoked outrage, particularly among many Democratic lawmakers. Some accused the agents of using their long reins meant to control the horses as whips against the migrants and an investigation was later launched.
The photographer who snapped the photos said at the time the images had been “misconstrued” as showing abusive behavior.
President Joe Biden was outraged by the incident and vowed there would be consequences.

“It was horrible what you see, what you saw — to see people treated like they did, with horses nearly running them over and people being strapped. It’s outrageous. I promise you, those people will pay,” Biden said days afterward.
The agents were pulled from their normal duties and are prohibited from having contact with migrants.

This man's name is John Hurley.

A year ago today, John was shopping in Arvada, Colorado, when someone started shooting. So Johnny went to the direction of the gunfire and shot the shooter.

Then the @ArvadaPolice killed him. Image
For days, the @cityofarvada tried to make it sound like Johnny had been killed by the shooter, but after multiple FOIA requests and investigations, they finally owned up to the fact that their officers killed him.
Johnny was a hero, and one of the leaders of @WeAreChangeCO, an independent media group who seeks to, in their words "expose the fraud of the left/right paradigm & reveal that the world truly functions on a top/down hierarchy that threatens to destroy free society as we know it."
Months later, the government announced that no one would be held accountable for Johnny's killing, despite the fact that Johnny's killer never even attempted to positively ID him as the shooter, or even tell him to put his gun down before killing him.

No Charges To Be Filed Against Arvada Police Officer Who Shot Johnny HurleyDistrict Attorney Alexis King announced she will not file charges against the officer involved in the deadly shooting of Hurley.https://denver.cbslocal.com/2021/11/08/no-charges-arvada-police-district-attorney/
"This incident illustrates the nearly unfathomable decisions society asks our police officers to make as they go about their everyday work."

It wasn't unfathomable for Johnny. He just identified the shooter & killed him. Apparently that's too much to ask from the Thin Blue Line. Image
"We hope our decision not to file charges will bring a small piece of closure to those affected and that in this finality there is some healing."

Imagine killing someone and telling their loved ones you hope your decision not to be held accountable brings them closure & healing. Image
Worse yet, the shooter apparently hated police and was attempting to kill as many as possible. Johnny saved the lives of Arvada Police officers, they killed him for it, and government protected his killers.
Whomever killed Johnny should have been punished to the fullest extent of the law, just like they would if a civilian killed one of them.
Johnny Hurley was a hero, even before he saved lives. The Arvada government isn't fit to clean his shoes, and we will not rest until the impediments to holding government accountable for their crimes are removed. Image
On this day, I ask that you take a moment to remember Johnny's heroism, and the absolute travesty in how his killing was handled by the Arvada government.

RIP Johnny.
Thank you. Image
For those asking, the name of Johnny's killer is Kraig Brownlow.

No good deed goes unpunished. In this case its hard for me to blame the cops since I've never been in an active shooter situation like that. Covering it up is the fault of the useless, no help administrators

US jobless claims total higher-than-expected 229,000 last week

Initial jobless claims ticked down last week, but were higher than forecast, as investors monitor the labor market for potential signs of a slowdown.
First-time filings for unemployment insurance in the U.S. totaled 229,000 for the week ended June 11, falling from the prior week's upwardly revised 232,000, the Department of Labor said Thursday. Economists surveyed by Bloomberg had expected the latest reading to come in at 217,000.
Last week's figure held near the highest level since mid-January when the Omicron-driven wave of COVID-19 sent droves of employees home from work.
Still, the number of claims reflects a labor market that remains hot, even as tighter monetary conditions and persistent inflation raise worries that unemployment may spike.
Thursday's data also follows projections from the Federal Reserve published Wednesday that indicate the unemployment rate is poised to rise a few tenths of a percentage point to 3.9% through the end of 2023. The May jobs report showed the unemployment rate at a historically low 3.6%.
The most recent data also brings the four-week moving average for new claims — which smooths out volatility in the weekly data — to 1,317,500, a decrease of 750 from the previous week's revised average. This marks the lowest level for this average since January 1970.
Claims have climbed steadily to the highest level in five months after notching a more than 50-year low in March. But even after increases in the number of Americans filing for unemployment insurance in recent weeks, claims are still only slightly above pre-pandemic levels. Claims averaged about 218,000 per week throughout 2019.

US/Mexico Border Crossing RECORD Smashed In May.

Official Homeland Security data showed a record 239,416 migrants were encountered at the US/Mexico border in May, breaking April’s then-record figure of 234,088.

Customs and Border Protection say over 100,000 of them were turned away under Title 42, while around a quarter had already been encountered by border authorities this year.

Many of the remaining number have been released into the US with court dates only set for 2023.

Uvalde Hires Private Law Firm to Argue It Doesn’t Have to Release School Shooting Public Records

Some of the records relating to the Robb Elementary School shooting could be “highly embarrassing,” involve “emotional/mental distress,” and are “not of legitimate concern to the public,” the lawyers argued.

The City of Uvalde and its police department are working with a private law firm to prevent the release of nearly any record related to the mass shooting at Robb Elementary School in which 19 children and two teachers died, according to a letter obtained by Motherboard in response to a series of public information requests we made. The public records Uvalde is trying to suppress include body camera footage, photos, 911 calls, emails, text messages, criminal records, and more.
“The City has not voluntarily released any information to a member of the public,” the city’s lawyer, Cynthia Trevino, who works for the private law firm Denton Navarro Rocha Bernal & Zech, wrote in a letter to Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton. The city wrote the letter asking Paxton for a determination about what information it is required to release to the public, which is standard practice in Texas. Paxton's office will eventually rule which of the city's arguments have merit and will determine which, if any, public records it is required to release.
The letter makes clear, however, that the city and its police department want to be exempted from releasing a wide variety of records in part because it is being sued, in part because some of the records could include “highly embarrassing information,” in part because some of the information is “not of legitimate concern to the public,” in part because the information could reveal “methods, techniques, and strategies for preventing and predicting crime,” in part because some of the information may cause or may "regard … emotional/mental distress," and in part because its response to the shooting is being investigated by the Texas Rangers, the FBI, and the Uvalde County District Attorney.
The letter explains that Uvalde has at least one in-house attorney (whose communications it is trying to prevent from public release), and yet, it is using outside private counsel to deal with a matter of extreme importance and public interest. Uvalde’s city government and its police department did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Motherboard.

The city says that it has received 148 separate public records requests (including several from Motherboard), and has lumped all of them together, making a broad legal argument as to why it should not be required to respond to many of them. Earlier this week, Motherboard reported on a similar letter sent to Paxton by the Texas Department of Public Safety, which wanted to suppress body-camera footage because it could expose “weaknesses” in police response to crimes that criminals could exploit. (The main seeming weakness in the Uvalde response was that police, in violation of standard policy and protocol, refused to risk their lives to protect children.)
For example, the city and its police department argue that it should be exempted from releasing “police officer training guides, policy and procedure manuals, shift change schedules, security details, and blueprints of secured facilities,” because these could be used to decipher “methods, techniques, and strategies for preventing and predicting crime.” The Uvalde Police Department and Texas Department of Public Safety have been pilloried by the press and the public for standing in the hallway while a gunman killed children—against standard protocol—and for preventing parents from entering the building to save their children. The letter also argues that the department should be exempted from releasing body camera footage simply because it could be “information considered to be confidential by law, either constitutional, statutory, or by judicial decision.”
It is impossible to say what records, in particular, the city and the police are referring to in many parts of the letter. For example, it says it cannot release an individual's criminal history because it would be "not of legitimate concern to the public," because it could be "highly embarrassing," and because it would violate their common-law right to privacy. But the letter does not talk about who the records would be about, why they wouldn't be relevant to the public, or why they would be highly embarrassing.
“They claim that the compilation of individuals’ criminal history is highly embarrassing information, which is a strange cover. The embarrassing information is the inept police response,” Christopher Schneider, a professor of sociology at Brandon University who studies police body cameras and the disclosure of footage from them, told Motherboard, noting that suspects' criminal histories are released by the police all the time without anyone having requested them. “They have no problem using information like that against individuals of the public. The information disclosure needs to go both ways, if that’s the case.” Disciplinary or criminal records for members of the police, for example, would be obviously relevant public information in a case in which the police response has been highly criticized. "It’s rather ripe to say any of this is not of legitimate public concern," he added. "The whole country is trying to figure out how to not allow this to happen again."
This is a relatively common sort of argument, but it shows yet again that the deck is stacked against the public disclosure of public records when they are inconvenient or embarrassing to the police.
“The case that’s being made contains some particularly asinine stonewalling,” Schneider said. “It seems like the city is throwing everything at the wall to see what sticks, and seeking a ruling to suppress this information from being released.”
Schneider says that lumping together all 148 public records requests, and asking for a legal ruling on everything at once, seems like a tactic to prevent the release of anything and everything.
“It appears that they’re conflating all of the information requests as a justification to not release the stuff we should be seeing. If it’s an officer’s email to his wife, yeah, we don’t need to see this. But the body-worn camera footage is of concern. They’re conflating all of this information together to suppress the legitimate stuff,” he said.
In his research, Schneider said that body-worn cameras often do not do what they’re supposed to do, which is hold police accountable to the public. This is because public records laws are often written in such a way as to provide wide latitude to police to decide what the public actually gets to see, and allows them to “regain control of the narrative” when it is convenient for them.
“It’s not a coincidence journalists run into this problem [of not being able to obtain body camera footage] over and over again,” Schneider said. “The law is by design, the privacy rules are by design to make it absolutely as difficult as possible to release the information.”

Honolulu’s Former Prosecuting Attorney Keith Kaneshiro and Businessman Dennis Mitsunaga Indicted in Bribery Scheme

Special Attorneys Michael Wheat (619) 546-8437, Joseph Orabona (619) 546-7951, Janaki Chopra (619) 546-8817, Colin McDonald (619) 546-9144 and Andrew Chiang (619) 546-8756
NEWS RELEASE SUMMARY – June 17, 2022
HONOLULU – Former Honolulu Prosecuting Attorney Keith Mitsuyoshi Kaneshiro and Honolulu businessman Dennis Mitsunaga are charged in an indictment unsealed today with participating in a bribery scheme in which Mitsunaga and his network of employees and affiliates paid Kaneshiro more than $45,000 in campaign contributions to prosecute one of his former employees and violate that employee’s civil rights.
Kaneshiro and Mitsunaga, owner and CEO of Mitsunaga & Associates, Inc., an engineering and architectural firm, were arrested at their homes this morning and will make their first appearances in federal court today before U.S. Magistrate Judge Wes Reber Porter. Also indicted and arrested today were three of Mitsunaga’s employees - Terri Ann Otani, Aaron Shunichi Fujii and Chad Michael McDonald. All are charged with Conspiracy to Commit Federal Program Bribery and Honest Services Wire Fraud, and Conspiracy Against Rights.
According to the indictment, Mitsunaga wanted a fired employee, identified in court records as L.J.M., to be prosecuted after that employee filed a federal discrimination suit against Mitsunaga’s company. In order to influence the prosecutor’s office to open an investigation and file charges, Mitsunaga steered tens of thousands of dollars to Kaneshiro’s reelection campaigns between 2012 and 2016. In doing so, Mitsunaga circumvented campaign contribution limits by asking for contributions from family members, business partners, employees and subcontractors. The accusations against L.J.M. were baseless and motivated by a desire to intimidate L.J.M., the indictment said.
According to the indictment, in the summer of 2014, after a senior deputy prosecutor in Kaneshiro’s office recommended declining charges against L.J.M., Kaneshiro reassigned the case to a recently hired deputy prosecuting attorney, identified in court records as J.D. Around December 1, 2014, acting on behalf of Kaneshiro, J.D. filed a felony information against L.J.M., charging L.J.M. with four counts of second-degree theft under State of Hawaii law.
The prosecution of L.J.M. continued for several years until her case was dismissed with prejudice in a written order by Hawaii Circuit Judge Karen T. Nakasone on September 15, 2017. The order of dismissal pointed out the “one-sided nature of the investigation” and the fact that the Department of the Prosecuting Attorney “was little more than acting as the recipient of, and conduit for” submissions provided by Mitsunaga & Associates.
The indictment alleges that in exchange for the contributions given to him by defendants Mitsunaga, Otani, Fujii, McDonald and others, Kaneshiro agreed to take official action and exercise his authority as the Prosecuting Attorney for the City and County of Honolulu to open an investigation into and prosecute L.J.M.
“This indictment alleges a Honolulu businessman and others paid more than $45,000 in campaign contributions to Honolulu’s former Prosecuting Attorney to prosecute a former employee,” said U.S. Attorney Randy Grossman in the Southern District of California. “Public officials must conduct their affairs honestly and with integrity. The Department of Justice will work to hold accountable anyone who betrays that duty through the influence of bribes.” Grossman thanked the FBI in Honolulu and the prosecution team for their work on this case.
“The citizens of Hawaii deserve a government free of corruption,” said Special Agent in Charge Steven B. Merrill of the FBI’s Honolulu Division. “Corruption erodes the public trust and the FBI is committed to ensuring that people cannot buy prosecutions in the State of Hawaii. Thanks to U.S. Attorney Grossman and the prosecution team for their teamwork and commitment to justice.”

I can't get a detailed look, but I would guess that it is the standard rotation of pins that they wear, from what I have read on the "internet" they change them on a daily basis so they can quickly identify the "good guys."

The Navy has fired nearly a dozen officers in leadership positions in less than three months, including five in one week, due to a “loss of confidence” in their ability to command — an unusual string of terminations across land, air and sea teams, experts said.
At least nine commanding officers and two senior advisers have been relieved of their duties since April, when a cluster of suicides on the USS George Washington warship sparked widespread concerns of a mental health crisis.
A total of 13 commanding officers have been fired so far this year, including 12 in the Navy and one in the Marine Corps, the Navy said. Most recently, four Naval commanding officers and a top leader were ousted from June 8 to June 14.

It’s unclear what prompted the personnel changes, which the Navy said were unrelated to each other. The Navy did not elaborate further on specific conditions that led to the firings, but stressed the importance of “trust and confidence” across all levels of the chain of command.

The U.S. Navy has long maintained high standards for all its personnel. Those who fall short of these standards are held accountable,” said Lt. Cmdr. Devin Arneson, a Navy spokesperson, who added that such an action is “neither punitive nor disciplinary.
None of the leaders served the George Washington, where at least five crew members died by suicide in the last year, angering some sailors and advocates who work to reduce military suicides.

How many service members have to die before this commanding officer is held accountable?” said Patrick Caserta, who along with his wife has been advocating for better mental health treatment in the military, after their son died by suicide while serving the Navy in 2018.
You cannot hand-pick some commanders as fall guys and leave others untouched,” Caserta said.
At least one George Washington sailor, who asked to remain anonymous out of fear of retaliation, said he partially blames his commanding officer, Capt. Brent Gaut, for the rash of suicides, which include three within a span of a week in April.
Prepare now! You will never go without electricity with this portable power station

The sailor and the Casertas believe Master Chief Petty Officer of the Navy Russell Smith should also be fired, following controversial remarks he made during an address to a fragile crew in April. Smith, the service’s senior enlisted leader, is responsible for matters dealing with enlisted personnel and their families.
The sailor said his shipmates still talk about Smith’s comments that sailors should have “reasonable expectations,” and that they were not “sleeping in a foxhole like a Marine might be doing.
In separate news releases, the Navy gave vague explanations in at least four of the cases and blanket “loss of confidence” statements for the others.
It said an “assessment” of the current climate at the Naval Justice School led officials to fire both the commanding officer and her second-in-command on May 31. However, the Navy said neither officer was involved in misconduct.

That commanding officer, Capt. Amy Larson, had held the role for about eight months. She has been temporarily reassigned, officials said.
Earlier, a “command investigation” resulted in the April 28 termination of the commanding officer in charge of the Submarine Training Facility in San Diego, the Navy said.
In Hawaii, a “series of leadership and oversight failures” at the government-run Red Hill Bulk Fuel Storage Facility led to the April 4 dismissal of the commanding officer of its Fleet Logistics Center.
Most recently, the Navy said the commanding officer of the USS Bulkeley destroyer and his third-in-command were relieved on June 10 due to a loss of confidence in their “ability to effectively function as a command leadership team.”

Are these Navy officers all anti-vaxx? Are they cleaning out the white hats? Are they getting rid of those leaders who would have resisted the coming tyranny and who would have not layed down for the planned invasion of Taiwan by China? Because when (it’s not if!) China will invade Taiwan, these guys probably would have wanted to respond… Instead, the US will do nothing.
As you know, Obama fired a multitude of Army generals and replaced them with hand picked “leaders” who would further the ideal of “progress”. The current admin follows suit with the Navy. No surprise.
The military ceases to focus on being a fighting force and now turns to social programs. One thing you have to give the NWO folks, they are comprehensive in their efforts. [NBCNews]

Elon Musk’s 18-year-old son has reportedly filed a petition in April to legally change his gender identity to become a woman and change his last name to distance from his father.
According to the legal documents obtained by The Blast, Musk’s teenage son, Xavier Musk has applied to change his full name as Vivian Jenna Wilson.
“Xavier Alexander Musk, who has a twin named Griffin, turned 18 back in April. Almost immediately after her birthday, Xavier filed a petition with the courthouse to change her name as she embraces her new identity as Vivian,” Yahoo reported.
“The Blast obtained the court documents from the Superior Court of California in Los Angeles County at the time of their release but did not publish the documents right away to give Vivian time to come out on her own. However, the documents started making their way around Twitter on Saturday night, just ahead of Father’s Day. Her hearing is scheduled for this Friday,” the news outlet added.

A screenshot shared on Twitter is making rounds online with 9K retweets showing the alleged legal documents filed in L.A. County by Xavier Musk.

According to reports, Xavier listed the reason for the name change as he no longer wanted to be affiliated with his biological father in any way, shape, or form. He wished to use his mother’s last name instead.
“Gender identity and the fact that I no longer live with or wish to be related to my biological father in any way, shape or form,” Xavier stated.
“Musk was married to Vivian’s mother, Canadian author Justine Wilson, from 2008. She then had twin sons – Xavier and Griffin – and triplet boys: Damian, Kai and Saxon, now 16,” Daily Mail reported.
“It is unclear what is behind Vivian’s rejection of her father, in such a public way. Musk has yet to comment, and it’s unclear if he was aware of Vivian’s plan prior to the court documents being filed,” Daily Mail added.
Back in July 2020, Elon Musk tweeted that “pronouns suck” and he was criticized as transphobic.

In December 2020, Musk tweeted that he supports the trans community but not the gender pronouns.
“I absolutely support trans, but all these pronouns are an esthetic nightmare,” Musk explained.

No context in the vid or even sound.

But I did see what appeared to be the 'vet' hitting Gaillard first. And a worker at a VA is likely a vet too. But it doesn't really matter. If you hit somebody- vet or not- retaliation should always be the expected result.
