When I say ": we" , I mean descendants of Americans that have been here for centuries.

The native American Indians got 1 of the harshest deals of all, mostly at the hands of white Christians.
My family came here in the early 1600's so we settled this land. The red indian had done NOTHING to further civilization. No wheel, no multistory buildings, no metals, nothing. They were essentially animals, just like the blacks in Africa. Just tribes of hunter gatherers. What my relatives did was manifest destiny.

They didn't even have good weed. It took white people to refine the pot to a smokable product.

Black people invented rock and roll and peanut butter. You're welcome.

Rap music evolved from the disco djs who would speak in the intermission of the mixes. And gangster rap isn't meant to be appreciated by white people who live in the suburbs.

What happened to all the great black music though? Motown produced some incredible stuff from incredibly talented people! All from Detroit!!! What the hell happened??

Florida Gators Suspend 7 Players Suspected of Credit Card Fraud For Season Opener
by: Darrelle Lincoln On Monday, August 14, 2017
Tags: Antonio Callaway Florida Gators

Reports surfaced last week that numerous players on the Florida Gators football team were suspected of credit card fraud. More specifically, players allegedly misused their student debit cards with scholarship funds provided to them by the school. Those players reportedly purchased electronics, then re-sold them, and attempted to claim the cards had been lost or stolen.

On Sunday, the team decided to suspend all seven players involved: Star junior wide receiver Antonio Callaway is the biggest name of the group, which also includes junior defensive lineman Keivonnis Davis, redshirt sophomore DL Richerd Desir-Jones, redshirt freshman DL Jordan Smith, freshman linebacker James Houston IV, freshman LB Ventrell Miller and freshman offensive lineman Kadeem Telfort.

We have a small group of players that have made some choices that are extremely disappointing,” coach Jim McElwain said in a release. “Action has been taken – they have missed some practice and will miss the Michigan game. We will use this as a learning opportunity and we will have some players step up as we move forward.”

Those seven players will not be available to face off against the Michigan Wolverines in their season opener.

Well, after 25 years, DH and I have finally turned off the NFL. Hubby is on a board at work so we will look up the score to update our scores but 3 weeks in we are done. Wow, having an urge to burn a few jerseys right now.

Not I Capitan. Much easier than people might think! Trust me, people are turning off the NFL by the hundreds of thousands and it's becoming more pervasive and going viral. The NFL cannot survive it if the people continue to react. There's nothing the NFL can say now that will stop this runaway train.

Another victim of the Trump curse. Prove me wrong! (You know you don't want to) :belly laugh:

Cubs 8 - Cards 1

BTW: Rap & music don't belong in the same sentence.

Trying to pin down the origination of rap music will be pretty difficult.
Most people probably believe rap music came from African tribal drums but it was really the combination of cultures
that gave us todays "modern" rap sound.
Only two forms of music exhibit characteristics of being a monody marked by rhythm,
Rap music and Gregorian chant or "plainchant".
Poetic improvisation using a beat at slow or fast tempo in which the text is more important than the music.
The word "rap" was used in the 16th century in Europe to denote "telling the tale".
Rap also has a similarity with Celtic music in which singers duel their phrases with rhythms.
The unintended influence of Scottish/Irish music upon the African American sounds probably formed American rap.

So, what is this hellofamarie about? Jockstraps bunching up?

Look no one needs a jockstrap to play a sport. All ya need is willing participants and if they are not willing then the old-fogies league takes over where you pay to play.

When you sit at a poker table do you not pay to play how about when you throw them bones? And, my fave...the dreaded pool table but we can throw fishing in there also, then hunting birds or four feet; take ur pick.

What I am getting at is these sport dicks can just go suck it and suck it as hard as they can because every thing else is pay to play sport.

Only with the help they received in the US. Rock and Roll didn't develop in Africa nor did peanut butter.

You can't get there from here.

You forgot the blues aka Delta Blues. Black people had a big big hand in American music. Blues + country gave us the various types of rock and roll. Carl Perkins was from a poor sharecropper family, they lived the same as their black neighbors. They shared the same music growing up.

I liked that series, have you watched the last one? I think it is just a movie they made to sum up the series.

I just finished season one on Hulu, but Hulu only has season one. How disappointing. That was a really cool little show, like a western in outer space. Great cast of oddball characters, too. It doesn't seem that more is available on YouTube, either.

The movie was called Serenity. Good movie! Spoiler alert, here, though!!! They rigged it in the movie so the show wouldn't make it back to tv, ever. Won't say how.

It's only been 14 years or so, but seems like a lifetime to me.
A Sci-Fi series based on Libertarian values like individual freedoms. A handful of people who just refused to go along with TPTB who had won the war against rebels. They decided to join together and survive, doing what they needed to do. There is much on the Internets explaining the background of the show, so I won't try to explain it here.

There was only one season because some fat female executive with Fox really didn't like the show. For one they put it on Friday night which is where series's go to die. Also they showed the the series out of order which confused viewers and sure didn't help the ratings. The show was canceled while in production one afternoon with no explanation.

Rather than me try to explain the whole thing here, (and prolly get it all wrong) I will refer you to the Wikipedia page. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Firefly_(TV_series)
It's one of those shows that needs to be watched every year. There are so many subtle things that are missed even if you watch it twice. It's a story about people from different walks in life who only want to be free. And how, no one can really make it alone, and the struggle for that freedom comes with a price.

Only one season!? I thought they made it to season three, for some reason. It's a shame. That show had a strong core of followers and everything going for it, from characters, acting, writing, production quality, you name it.

And you're right. The thing that is obvious from the start is that these folks are always trying to stay one step ahead of TPTB, most exemplified by the young doc and his gov abused sister, running from agency thugs who want her back. And the mysterious "Shepherd" who might not actually be a shepherd. Themes that are so affirming to folks like us.

So who's going to apologize to GH for hijacking his thread? :belly laugh:
I'll do that. I have an enormous talent for thread drift. Very sorry mister GH. Sometimes I forget where I am and how I got there.
