The USFS strangles their fire managers with the stupidest of policies and procedures. They have to because many of their fire managers are incapable of making sensible judgment calls.

Maybe if Oregon didn't have so many flaming liberals living there God wouldn't punish them so much!

I mean these hurricanes are Trump's fault for being racist right? Or is Florida and Texas getting pounded because God is mad at bthem all for voting Trump?

This is what I read on the web so it must be true!

Ok, forget the coasts. Got to find me one spot in this country that ain't cursed by a Holy God. {maybe Scorps basement??}

Well, this happens all the time. I still remember the fantastic sunsets after fire burned Yellowstone back in '88.

The Western Sky glowed 600 miles away. Before that; Mt St Helens:

Some old guy had a cabin on that hill and refused to evacuate. That's the way to go. Old age is way overrated.

But now? It seems like one thing on top of another without a break? Yeah, we're cursed. :clapx:

And they worried about the pollution, that nobody noticed for years, given off by a few VW diesels.

Another kind of pollution caused by major forest fires that environmentalists never mention. After the Fire of 1910 the rivers ran muddy for years.
The way environmentalists talk you would think trees are members of Mensa, much smarter than us simple folk who live in the forest, these smart trees know just what to do if only man would leave them alone .

IIRC like 20,000 or 200,000 acres were already ravaged by the pine beetle or some shit. Natures way of cleaning things out. How many acres have burned out there now? Never miond looked it up. More than 500,000 acres

The low estimateof how many cars are offset by forest land is about 333 per hectre so lets call it 165 per acre. Thats on the low side. It could go as high as over 200 cars per acre.
500,000 x 165 = 82,500,000 cars. That's how much carbon has been released by the Oregon fires.

Yes, yes, yes but the carbon has settled to be reuptaked by other plants. No not Russian plants or chins...just like all the exhaust from them e-vile piston chuckers.

Did you know that sulfuric acid and nitric acid {edit}(changed at to are), are not considered a ground water pollutant here inside these bounds? Because plants use them to grow and then there is cellulose which is a main constituent in a plant and its main element is carbon, oh darn, darn, darn did I hear a tear fall from al joel? Oh sorry al got gored.

When it comes to wildfires in my area, my only fear is the inhalation of burnt poison oak.

I lost 135 good seasoned pines to that pesky beetle. Upside, no needles to sweep off the roof every 2 months. No cones getting picked up by the mower and flung like rockets. I actually had a tow behind sweeper for my lawn tractor back then.

In 2004-2005, over 12 million acres burned in Alaska. CNN was too busy covering a 3500 acre fire in SoCal to care....
I didn't know that. IIRC, most trees in mainland Alaska are not merchantable due to dwarfed size, if true, that fire would not have been prevented by allowing logging.

Probably true...the spruce trees North of Fairbanks don't get much higher than about 15 feet. I was thinking in terms of carbon released into the atmosphere.

In that case I won't blame the size of the Alaska fire on USFS mismanagement, as is the case in the lower 48. I can't expect taxpayers to fund thinning and disposing of gazillions of 15' trees in Alaska as a fire prevention measure. When timber companies provide that valuable service free of charge in the lower 48 it's pure negligence not to take them up on it.

BTW, speaking of carbon, do you know how USFS disposes of the hundreds of dump truck loads of slash they remove during backburning operations? They burn it in portable incinerators.

That requires a "facepalm" GIF...that I don't feel like looking up at the moment.
