Additional evidence showed that after the Superbowl in Miami, Walker planned to take the victims to Chicago, Illinois (during the NBA All-Star Game), New Orleans, Lousiana (during Mardi Gras), Las Vegas, Nevada, and other places to further sexually exploit them. The jury found Walker guilty of sex trafficking by force and coercion, sex trafficking of a minor and by force and coercion, and transporting a person for sexual activity.

United States Senior District Court Judge James I. Cohn imposed the sentence, which also includes a supervised release term of 25 years following incarceration.

Walker will soon be transported to the State of Connecticut where he will face charges in United States District Court for the District of Connecticut for the Production of Child Pornography.

Illegal immigrant wanted for allegedly raping a 5-year-old finally caught 20 years later​

HIGH POINT, NC – Police in Las Vegas, Nevada have been looking for an illegal alien since he failed to appear in court for sex charges in May of 2001.

The suspect was located and taken into custody after living for twenty years under an alias.

The suspect, in this case, 40-year-old Eric Santibanez-Cardenas, was taken into custody on December 28th in High Point, North Carolina.

His arrest came after police had somehow determined that Santibanez-Cardenas had been using an alias the day prior.

Officers with the Guilford County Sheriff’s Office Special Victims Unit along with additional law enforcement resources set up some type of fake appointment with Santibanez-Cardenas to lure him to police.

Santibanez-Cardenas took the bait and went to the meeting location, not realizing that he was meeting with police who knew his true identity.

Police took him into custody without incident and transported him to the county jail. Santibanez-Cardenas is currently being held on a $500,000 bond while awaiting extradition.

In 2001, police in Las Vegas reported Santibanez-Cardenas allegedly raped a 5-year-old boy. When he was scheduled to appear in court for the four charges against him, four counts of sexual assault, he failed to show.

Santibanez-Cardenas has been in the wrong ever since. It was not until 2006 that authorities learned that Santibanez-Cardenas had started using an alias, Julian Solis-Cardenas. Police lost track of Santibanez-Cardenas until they learned that he was hiding in plain sight in High Point.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency has placed a detainer on Santibanez-Cardenas which is a request that if he is released at any time they are notified so that they can take custody of him.

'Absolute silence': Journalists asked to sign confidentiality agreement over report into child abuse by German Catholic Church​

Journalists in the German city of Cologne have walked out of a press conference after Catholic Church officials asked them to sign a confidentiality agreement pledging their silence over an unpublished report into child abuse.

The Archdiocese of Cologne organized the event to discuss the methodology of the report, which Archbishop Rainer Maria Woelki said was the reason it had still not been released to the public, according to Deutsche Welle.

The eight journalists invited to the briefing were shown a redacted version of the document and asked by church officials to remain silent on information regarding the alleged abusers and their crimes.

All attendees reportedly rejected requests to sign the confidentiality agreement, which apparently read: "The journalist commits himself to exercise absolute silence regarding this information."

Woelki has been accused of a cover-up by not informing the Vatican about a sexual abuse allegation involving a priest dating back to 2014, after Woelki became Archbishop of Cologne.

He initially promised a report into abuse allegations in Cologne in 2018, but he delayed its release at the end of October, saying it was "not legally valid," contained prejudices, and had issues with regards to its methodology.

"Serious mistakes were repeatedly made for decades," Woelki admitted in November, as he accused two of his predecessors, Joseph Hoffner and Joachim Meisner, of covering up sexual abuse in Cologne.

A local criminal law expert, Bjorn Gercke, has reportedly now been asked to compile a new report for release in March.

Munich law firm Westpfahl Spilker Wastl, which had been handling the report, has denied Woelki's allegations that it was not methodologically sound.

Longtime CNN Producer John Griffin Hit With Second Lawsuit After Arrest for Enticing Young Girls​

John Griffin, the longtime producer for CNN’s “New Day” fired in December over child trafficking allegations, has been hit with a $15 million civil lawsuit filed on behalf of a 9-year-old.

The lawsuit, filed in Bridgeport last week on behalf of a 9-year-old “Jane Doe” and custodial “next best friend” Janet Doe, alleges “despicable acts” of “horrific sexual abuse” and exploitation, Fox News reported.

“For several years prior to 2020, the defendant solicited young girls, including the minor plaintiff, for the purpose of knowingly persuading, inducing, enticing and coercing them to engage in sexual activity, sexual exploitation, and/or sexual trafficking,” the lawsuit alleges.

Griffin, fired last month by the network, is alleged to have pressured parents to bring their daughters to a home he acquired in Vermont to engage in illegal sexual acts. He faces one trafficking charge, and two counts of attempted trafficking in federal court in the state.

The pressure worked in one case, according to charging documents filed in Vermont and Nevada.

Griffin allegedly convinced a mother to fly with her daughter from the latter state and they spent time together at the Vermont home.

Griffin and the woman are accused of engaging in sexual acts with the girl, 9. He faces up to life in prison if convicted of a single count.

The civil lawsuit filed last week similarly alleges that between April and July 2020, Griffin invited three women and their underage daughters over “for the purposes of sexual training.”

The suit seeks up to $15 million in damages and fees.

It alleges that Griffin took drone footage of a “completely naked 9-year-old girl” standing beside him while he was wearing his
underwear.

“When confronted with this video during an interview by FBI agents, Griffin’s first response was merely to suggest he was not looking at the naked girl, despite that she was standing so close to him to be touching,” the prosecutor’s pretrial detention memo states.

After he was arrested on Dec. 10, without prompting, Griffin told authorities, “Without incriminating myself, I just want to let you guys know that I’m ashamed you even know my name at all,” according to court papers.

“In the time I’m with you guys, in the event I do anything inappropriate, I just want you to know that I’d feel the same way you guys would if I were in your situation. Thank you,” Griffin also purportedly said.

The woman who brought the girl to the northeast, described in court documents as the girl’s adopted mother, was charged in 2020 with child abuse and other counts.

Griffin has pleaded not guilty to all charges against him and is being held without bail in Vermont.

As I write this, Sarah, Beatrice, and Eugenie—Andrew’s ex and daughters—are waiting to be notified by David Boies, the attorney for Virginia Roberts Giuffre, if their testimony is going to be asked for, too. That request is expected within 24 hours, according to my source.
In the event the three women give depositions, there won’t be much they can say about the actual alleged assault in London in 2001 because the duchess was abroad and the girls were very young. But they can certainly be asked about the prince’s character, which, according to my source, could be described as “naïve” and “insular.” I wrote in my previous newsletter how most of the prince’s dinners are at home rather than out. He is arguably now paying a price for that insularity.

The “tragedy” from the advisor’s point of view is that the prince is now cornered when he need not have been. He should have put out his narrative—whatever that is or was—way sooner, certainly before last summer, and taken charge, rather than being forced to be on his back foot and reactive now to Giuffre, who has total command of the news cycle.
Whether or not the prince will answer excruciating questions from Giuffre’s lawyers in a deposition is unclear. We know he is attending, but he is not obligated to answer anything.
My source thinks Prince Andrew will dodge the tough questions: “He cannot possibly go and give evidence. I mean, it'd be utter madness. To do that, he'd be eaten alive.”
Of course, to avoid answering questions will not bode well for him in the civil suit.
The other option is just to settle. But, at this point, how difficult would it be? Giuffre has said she wants her day in court. And she is most certainly entitled to it.
My source says that the prince’s team made a very bad tactical mistake and that it’s possible the now-desperate prince may only just be realizing this.
“They should have talked to David Boies,” he says.
Last summer, Virginia Roberts Giuffre’s lawyer David Boies gave the prince’s lawyers warning in the form of a letter known as a tolling agreement, which, if signed, would have bought time for private talks. But Boies said publicly that if nothing happened before August 14 (when a statute enabling sex assault victims to sue in New York for past abuses expired), his client would file and the matter would move toward trial in public.
But the prince’s then-lawyers didn’t move.
And Prince Andrew said nothing.
Why?
My source says that the prince—and possibly some of his advisors, too—apparently did not understand what was at stake, even after the fallout from the trainwreck of a BBC interview Prince Andrew gave in 2019 after which he stepped back from his public duties.
My source says, “He's had a number of years to see if the risk was there, but he didn't see it. I think there's no doubt about that at all. He really is that naïve.”

This is the second time in recent months when I’ve encountered a high-profile British person who underestimates the American legal system and was wrong to do so. If Prince Andrew is Exhibit B, the family members of Ghislaine Maxwell are Exhibit A. They told me they really didn’t care that the Southern District of New York’s conviction rate is higher than that of London’s Old Bailey. They were confident they’d prevail. And look how that turned out for them.
Significantly, the American lawyer who has successfully masterminded incredibly successful legal and media campaigns on behalf of his clients in both cases is David Boies, who has himself faced controversy because he represented Harvey Weinstein and was on the board of Theranos, the health-tech company whose founder Elizabeth Holmes was just convicted of fraud.
Right now, Boies is back in the limelight as the hero litigator he was previously known as, given his critical role in the downfalls of Jeffrey Epstein, Maxwell, and now the prince.
Boies has repeatedly told me in the past two years that Prince Andrew was making a big mistake in not accepting his offers to talk—both to him and to the FBI. (Boies also thought Ghislaine Maxwell made a huge mistake in not going to prosecutors with what she knew in 2016. Given her recent conviction, it seems he was right.)
I reached out to Boies today to ask about Prince Andrew’s legal decisions. He’s got a sore throat and is resting before going before the Supreme Court on Tuesday, so his publicist Dawn Schneider responded to me via email with the following:

I need only direct you to last summer. A huge news cycle[*] ran in late July, maybe early August (I know b/c I started it) about the ‘tolling agreement’ that David sent to Prince Andrew’s legal team that went ignored.
Much was reported about that with David talking about his repeated efforts to enter into a discussion. David has been on the record saying as much even before last summer but the net is the tolling agreement he [Prince Andrew] refused acknowledge, much less sign, would have bought him time.
At that point, anyone with a brain knew that was a precursor for litigation being filed against him. And that’s exactly what happened.
No surprise that his legal team is now wishing they had signed it.

Millions of files being reviewed to identify victims of child sexual abuse​

AFP and state police identification specialists are reviewing almost 4 million files seized from alleged sex offenders in a bid to identify and rescue children.

The intensive and meticulous process, which began at the AFP-led Australian Centre to Counter Child Exploitation (ACCCE) in November 2021, is being steered by the ACCCE, AFP, Queensland Police Service and South Australia Police.

The 3.75 million files were among the collections of child abuse offenders, seized by investigators during search warrants carried out as part of child protection investigations.

Some of the content is described by investigators as “horrific”.

Of the 3.75 million files analysed, almost 5000 child abuse files were identified and uploaded to the INTERPOL International Child Sexual Exploitation (ICSE) database, resulting in the addition of 40 new series of child abuse victims to the law enforcement database.

The material was referred to law enforcement agencies in 13 countries.

These additions will alert law enforcement in the 64 ICSE-connected countries to the new material and facilitate global collaboration, focused on identifying those children in the images, wherever they are in the world.

Child protection investigators are warning of an increasing number of children worldwide being coerced into sexual acts by online offenders.
ACCCE victim identification specialist Detective Sergeant Svetlana Palmer said the vast majority of the 5000 files uploaded to ICSE were self-produced by children.

“We are no longer seeing child abuse material only being produced by offenders with direct access to children,” Detective Sergeant Palmer said.

“Child victims are increasingly producing child abuse material themselves and in some instances being extorted to produce more.

“Self-produced child abuse material is preventable, but to stop it we need parents and guardians to have open and honest conversations with their kids about the very real dangers that exist online.

“Children need to know that help is available and by reporting what has happened to the police, they can help us to catch an offender and prevent other children being harmed.”

Capping is the coercion of children into sexual acts that are captured on camera and is a growing form of online child sexual abuse, with children being preyed on across all social media and video streaming platforms.

Many child victims initially believe they are interacting with a boy or girl of a similar age and may share explicit material, not realising their intimate acts are being recorded and circulated online, making them victims of child sexual exploitation.

Capping usually involves the grooming and sexual coercion of children and has been linked to the rise in child self-produced material. Capping can also involve offenders using recorded videos or images supplied by the child to sexually extort victims into producing even more graphic content.

Queensland Police Service victim identification specialist Scott Anderson, a member of Argos embedded at the ACCCE, works in the team that monitors online abuse forums to identify victims and offenders.

“These offenders are highly manipulative and in extreme cases, have tricked children into performing sexual acts on camera within 10 minutes of contacting them through a video streaming platform,” Mr Anderson said.

“It’s important to remember that social media platforms do not have any built-in protection mechanisms to prevent predators engaging with children, which is why it’s so important to talk to children about capping.”

Detective Brevet Sergeant Stephen Hegarty from South Australia Police said examination of seized files from arrested offenders clearly identified a significant issue with the ever-increasing self-production of material by children of all ages.

“There is a normalisation of sexual behaviour that is also changing young people’s attitudes towards sharing explicit content with each other,” he said.

“This timeline is evidence of the fact that many children are accessing the internet at a young age, often unsupervised and spending long hours using electronic devices in isolation.

“Unfortunately this is an increasing issue for the community.”

Some of the AFP’s top tips to keep children safe include having the privacy settings of their social media account set to ‘friends only’ or ‘private’ to ensure they are not contacted by someone wanting to do them harm, and turning off any location settings that could show where they go to school or where they live.

Parents should also encourage children not to share any personal information with ‘friends’ they meet online.

Research conducted by the ACCCE in 2020 revealed only about half of parents talked to their children about online safety.

Fifty per cent of parents don’t know what to do to keep their kids safe online. Just 3 per cent of parents are concerned about online grooming. And sadly, most believe online child sexual exploitation is too repulsive to even think about.

A podcast launched last year by the ACCCE ‘Closing The Net’ is working to change that, showcasing that knowledge is power and that our only chance to help prevent this issue is if we bring a ‘whole-of-community’ response.

Use of term 'CHILD ABUSE' MATERIAL NOT 'CHILD PORNOGRAPHY'

The correct legal term is Child Abuse Material – the move to this wording was among amendments to Commonwealth legislation in 2019 to more accurately reflect the gravity of the crimes and the harm inflicted on victims.

Use of the phrase "child pornography" is inaccurate and benefits child sex abusers because it:

• indicates legitimacy and compliance on the part of the victim and therefore legality on the part of the abuser; and
• conjures images of children posing in 'provocative' positions, rather than suffering horrific abuse.
