'I did nothing wrong': AK-toting, West Point graduate cop whose acquittal for murdering black suspect sparked two days of protests in St Louis speaks out
  • Jason Stockley, 36, shot Anthony Lamar Smith, 24, on December 20, 2011
  • He'd taken his AK-47 on duty and reportedly said he'd 'kill this motherf**ker'
  • On Friday he was acquitted leading to two days of protests in St Louis
  • Speaking in Houston, Stockley said he 'did nothing wrong' in shooting Smith
  • He said he didn't remember his 'motherf**ker' remark and denied planting a gun
  • And he said having the AK-47, while a violation of rules, was not morally wrong
  • He maintains that he did the right thing, and anger against him is misplaced
  • Stockley's acquittal led to two consecutive nights of violence in St Louis

Be a COP in Flint They Said. It'll be FUN they said.
Mike The Cop

Flint, MI is hiring police officers for $11.25 an hour. Amazing right? Sure, if you want to deal with one of the most violent cities per capita while struggling to find clean drinking water.

Seriously? If people want cops to be PROFESSIONALS you'll need to pay them a professional wage.

Outrage as Missouri highway trooper is given just 10 DAYS 'shock time' in jail after man, 20, he improperly handcuffed fell off a boat and drowned while in his custody
  • Missouri state trooper Anthony Piercy was sentenced to 10 days in jail and two years of probation for his role in the May 2014 death of a man in his custody
  • Brandon Ellingson, 20, was handcuffed and wearing an improperly secured life vest when he fell overboard while in Piercy's custody
  • The student at Arizona State University fell into the Lake of the Ozarks, the vest slipped off, and he drowned
  • Piercy jumped into the lake to try to save Ellingson several minutes after he went into the water, but failed
  • In June, the trooper avoided involuntary manslaughter charges in Ellingson's death by pleading guilty to a much lesser misdemeanor charge
  • Ellingson's father, Craig, was outraged by the sentence, saying: 'Ten days is like a vacation'
  • The state of Missouri agreed last year to pay $9 million to the Ellingson family to settle a lawsuit

On Becoming Cops...Again | OFF THE CUFF: EPISODE 4 clip
Mike The Cop

Published on Sep 29, 2017
Becoming a cop is usually a lengthy involved process. Both myself and Dave have become cops, stepped away from law enforcement for a period of time and reasons and then become cops again. The process is a little different second time around.

In this clip of the show we discuss the hiring process, polygraphs and oral board interviews and ultimately just being yourself as the key to success and a good fit with a department.

Feel free to ask follow up questions about the hiring process, etc. To watch the FULL episode of this podcast subscribe to patreon:

Dealing with the Evil of the Las Vegas Shooting
Mike The Cop

Published on Oct 3, 2017
Dealing with the evil of the Las Vegas mass shooting is not something that will be easy or fast. What often takes first responders years to accumulate in terms of what they've seen or experienced in tragedy, happened in just one incident on 10-1-17.

While I don't pretend in any way to be an expert on stress or dealing with it in the law enforcement community or in any career, I do know what has been helpful to me and perhaps you'll find it helpful or encouraging as well.

If you're a first responder that would like to reach out from Vegas or anywhere, Humanizing the Badge offers free, confidential help online via their facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/humanizethebadge

Officer Daniels and I will be traveling to Vegas next week to offer some thanks and encouragement in person to LVMPD.
