U.S. swimmer Jimmy Feigen to pay $11,000 to resolve Rio robbery dispute
By Barbara Kollmeyer
Published: Aug 19, 2016 6:03 a.m. ET

U.S. Olympic swimmer James Feigen has reached an agreement with officials in Rio de Janeiro to make an $11,000 donation to a Brazilian charity in an effort to resolve a dispute over a claim of robbery, according to media reports Friday. The agreement was announced early on Friday by his lawyer in the city, Breno Melaragno Costa, ABC News reported. That was on the heels of a four-hour meeting between the swimmer and officials from the prosecutors office on Thursday. A Brazilian charity called Reaction Institute will be the recipient of the money, which is equivalent to 35,000 Brazilian reals. Brazilian authorities have accused Feigen and three other U.S. swimmers -- Ryan Lochte, Gunnar Bentz and Jack Conger -- of making up a story about a robbery to cover up their acts of drunken vandalism. Feigen is expected to have his passport returned Friday and then will be free to leave the country, according to his lawyer. The U.S. Olympic Committee on Thursday apologized for the actions of the swimmers, all of whom have returned to the U.S. except for Feigen.

So they beat up the rest room at a petrol station
Got called out by a security guard.
Paid 50 bucks on the spot.
Then Lochmeister made the " gun to my forehead "
story up.
And the last guy in the country paid 11 grand.
He sure got stiffed by his buddies.
Cannot wait to see what Costas saya about this.

Nothing to declare except our stupidity: Lochte's sheepish sidekicks Conger and Bentz touch down in Miami as Feigen stumps up $11,000 so he can leave Brazil
  • Swimmers Jack Conger and Gunnar Bentz arrived at Miami airport early Friday morning
  • Pair made statements to police in Rio about Lochte's robbery claims and told officials they fabricated claims they were robbed alongside Ryan Lochte and Jimmy Feigen early on Sunday morning
  • Lochte initially claimed that the four US swimmers were held at gunpoint and robbed after a night out
  • Top cop said possible motive for robbery 'lie' was that swimmers were partying with two young women
  • Police have recommended Lochte and Feigen be indicted for falsely reporting a crime
  • Conger and Bentz were heckled as they left police station in Rio
  • Feigen has agreed to pay $10,800 to charity so he can leave Brazil, his lawyer said
  • US Olympic Committee has apologized for the embarrassment and distraction caused
  • Lochte's endorsement deals with Speedo, Airweave and Polo Ralph Lauren could now be in jeopardy

'I'm unsure why... but Ryan ripped down a sign': Shamed US swimmer Bentz turns on Lochte and blames the star for 'heated' gas station fracas as he goes public with his side of the story
  • Gunnar Bentz wrote a groveling apology on Friday for his role in the incident at a Rio de Janeiro gas station
  • The 20-year-old said that Lochte pulled a sign off the wall and also yelled at security guards at the gas station

© Ueslei Marcelino/Reuters Olympic athletes from Australia leave a police station after being questioned by Brazilian police late on Friday for entering the basketball arena without proper accreditation to watch a semi-final game between Australia and Serbia, an Australian team official said, during the Rio 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro August 20, 2016. Several Australian Olympic athletes detained by Rio police for not having the correct accreditation to gain entry to the Boomers’ basketball semi-final against Serbia have been released.

The Australian Olympic Committee’s deputy chef de mission Fiona de Jong, who joined the athletes as they were questioned by police, said they will pay a fine.

De Jong spoke briefly to media just before dawn as the athletes left a courthouse on Saturday and said they had apologised to a Brazilian judge and prosecutor. She did not know how much the fines would be.

Earlier on Saturday morning, De Jong had confirmed reports that 10 Australian athletes had been questioned by police after accessing a venue without having the correct credentials.

“Early this evening a number of Australian athletes went to support their mates at the Australia- Serbia match,’’ De Jong told media at 1.30am local time (2:30pm AEST). “Ten of the Australians didn’t have accreditation to be in that part of the venue.”

“The Brazilian authorities and us are working through the issues. Nobody has been arrested. We will provide you with a more detailed statement when those discussions have advanced. No one has been arrested or charged.”

Australia lost the game 87-61 and will play in the bronze medal match against Spain on Sunday at the same venue, Carioca Arena 1.

Are costs of the Olympics worth it for host cities?
CBS This Morning

Published on Aug 3, 2016
There are just two days left before the Summer Olympics get underway in Rio. A recent survey found 63 percent of Brazilians think hosting the games is doing more harm than good, which is quite a shift in attitude from when Rio first got the games. Ben Tracy reports why some believe the financial risk of playing host is not worth the reward.

I wonder if Ryan plans on a career in politics.............

Cryin' Ryan comes clean: Glassy-eyed swimmer chokes up as he tells Matt Lauer he 'over-exaggerated' Rio robbery, admits he was 'immature' and takes full responsibility for international incident
  • Ryan Lochte,32, sat down with Matt Lauer for an interview that aired in part Saturday
  • The swimmer said he was 'intoxicated' when he made initial TV appearance about robbery claims and 'over-exaggerated' the story
  • Lochte said: 'I was still under that influence, and I'm not making me being intoxicated an excuse. It was my fault, and I shouldn't have said that'
  • He said that a gun was never pointed at his head, as he previously stated
  • Lochte admitted that he was 'immature,' said he is taking responsibility, and apologized for the situation in Rio
  • He said was 'hurt' by seeing teammates Jack Conger and Gunner Bentz being pulled off their plane Wednesday by authorities in Brazil
  • Lochte also said that he let his team down and that he wanted to be there
  • After he finished taping the interview, he returned to Charlotte in the afternoon with his girlfriend, Kayla Rae Reid, on a private plane
  • Lochte first issued a half-hearted apology in which he claimed to be traumatized via social media on Friday

I don t think there was a bathroom inside.
Which is why they stepped around the back to whiz on the side of the building.
I watched the vids. It looks like you can see one of the guys pull something off the wall on the outside too.
Bet the security guys had no clue who they were.
And Lockmeister prob is thinking everyone DOES know how he is.
Drunk Americans.
His interviews are priceless.
Highly recommend them. Lol

When a bunch of drunken athletes, dripping with testosterone tear a place apart then lie about it and blame the victims, they should get their pee-pees whacked. Losing their sponsors is just tough luck. Welcome to Brazil.

But if you are a Clinton who lies as a matter of policy and uses fellow humans as pawns to be expended for political and financial gain you would be positively presidential. Your sponsors wouldn't mind at all. Welcome to the USA.
