You can't get there from here.
Due to my issue with the huge delivery delays I was experiencing with Provident I took a holiday from purchasing from them and spread my purchases around the other usual suspects for three months. My last order from Provident was 3-1-2013, and I made my first new order from them on 6-1-2013. It arrived on 6-14-2013 packaged in the "old" secure manner; everything in general good order.
This was a personal check order, my usual method of payment. Note 6-1 was a Saturday, keeping that in mind [and the next weekend] it took ten business days to get to me. This is the turn around I expect, and used to get before the problems at the beginning of this year.

I will slowly increase my orders from them if they can continue to ship without excessive delays. If the delays occur again, I will again shift my purchases elsewhere. Please note my problem with Provident was about excessive delays, not price or product. I have always been satisfied with both, or I would never have ordered from them in the first place.

Sent a pmo last Friday, will be delivered today (Saturday), that's only 8 days from dropping payment in the box to getting it to my doorstep. This same scenario took 3 weeks the last time. Definite improvement from the stories I am reading on here.

Of course, there is one option that is much faster

I just received my first order from Provident Metals today. I placed my online order on 6/3/13. I paid by personal check and dropped off my payment in the mail that same day. Received my order today on 6/17/13 two weeks after placing my order. I ordered multiple items and all were listed as in stock at the time of my order.

This was my first ever gold and silver purchase. I thought a couple of weeks turnaround time was reasonable for an order with a personal check payment method. I am pleased with my order. Everything was packaged well and all the coins look great. The 1 kilo silver Koala is quite impressive to hold in your hand. The Canadian Gold Maple Leaf is a good looking coin!

Overall I am pleased with PM. It was a smooth ordering process and the order status was updated multiple times on their website. They also provided me with a tracking number for my shipment. And their prices and premiums were very reasonable.

Good buying experience from a first time buyer. I plan to buy from them again soon.

I just received an order from Provident this week. It's my 3rd order, and my experience is going downhill with this company. Only 2 hours after placing the order, which included OPM 10oz. bars (10 of them), I get an email from them saying I can get free shipping if my order includes any of that product. I emailed them asking if I could get the free shipping since I didn't see the email before placing the order, but they simply ignored me.

Now that I got my order, I noticed that many of the OPM bars are chipped up around the corners, and that the sides are very roughed up, even though they're wrapped in vinyl enclosures. Also, I had ordered several of their air-tite containers for silver rounds. One of them was missing, so I'll have to purchase it again locally, if I can find a dealer who has them. So far, no luck with that.

Provident is getting pretty sloppy with how they do things, and I'm not sure I'll keep ordering from them.

The OPM's are cheap for reason. Poor quality minting is no surprise and I wouldn't hold Provident responsible. To the other matter, this sounds very Provident of them. I've had two similar incidents. One time I sent the wrong amount of money in by a few bucks, sent the cost without shipping quite by accident. They charged me some nominal fee because of it. Another time I wanted to tack on something to an order after it was placed. If I had put it on originally, I was still in the same shipping category. I emailed them and got a prompt reply and was refused. I ordered that product anyway but from Apmex.
My take on Provident is what you see is what you get. You'll get no fuzzy, warm feelings from them. You'll get your order exactly as it is stated, if you want a cozy, customer orientated relationship, you'll be disappointed.

They are generally the cheapest, that is all.

I wasn't impressed with Provident. Even by paying with immediate money it still took 2 weeks to get my in stock items.

Ordered an "in stock item", that I called in to check on after it hadn't changed status after 4 days and was told it had to be ordered from the mint so it was about a week until it shipped. It went out via USPS Registered, so took another 4 days. About 11 days total from wire to receiving. The item was packaged well and protected well and I'm happy with the transaction.

above ground (for now)
I ordered a couple of the OPM bars on 6/4 with a cc, shipment came in 6/10, received shipping notification on 6/11. :no_ma:
Umm, if my math is correct, their shipping is faster than a speeding email :vroam:
jk
They seem to have some issues, but i would order from them again.

I never had any trouble with them, but I dont think I have yet to deal with them during a price spike. It's always a one week turnaround time for me, buying or selling.

That's usually something that goes out in an email, to let customers know. If someone else now controls that PO Box, imagine all the items being sold to Provident that will wind up there! They'll be rich!

Ok, so one lesson I have learned about these guys is: Go to the post office and get a USPS money order instead of sending a personal check. It saves a ton of time.

Sent pmo on a Friday and recieved product eight days after. Hands down the fastest turnaround I've ever gotten from them.

Well packaged, each coin (bullion) was encapsulated from the mint but Provident also put each one in their own plastic bag.

100% satisfied.

I can verify the free shipping. Added a generic dont tread on me round to my order (was $1 more then the OPM generics at the time) and checked out with no shipping. Indirectly it cost me $1, but I had been wanting the DToM round so I consider it a wash

Update. Provident has speed up processing. Honoring website statement that Postal or Bank MO will be treated as cash and processed immediately. No Hold. Placed order on Friday Nov 1 and delivered on Saturday November 9. Thumbs up!!

I see that their prices are competitive but what's the shipping speed? Apmex sends my bullion in 3 days...
See post #310. That is from date of order, sending MO by mail and having product in hand.

Just and FYI. I placed an order (Money Order) on 12/3. They had not received payment by the 9th so I called. Due to weather post office in the TX area was closed the previous Friday and Saturday. Provident was flooded with 3 days of mail and orders that Monday. So account for that delay from the post office before you get your panties in a bind over your orders.

My last order was on 12/2 and is one of the best deals I've gotten in a long time. 41 ounces for under $20 silver! (4 Cyber Monday cheap rounds and one Philharmonic for free shipping.)

Order placed 12/2
Check cleared 12/5
Package shipped 12/12
Package arrived today!

I had several feebay packages delayed going to the Houston area, one lame newbie file a non-delivery case when the tracking showed no progress. The package was delivered fine.

I placed a CC order with Provident the evening of the 4th of Feb, it shipped the 6th by 2nd day USPS. USPS says delivery the 8th. Four day turnaround ain't too shabby!
