Is the time over for UPS & Fed Ex with amazon delivering their own product? Will online taxes kill digital stores?
Living in a very rural area has necessitated many online purchases for finished goods. The nearest consumer oriented town to us results in a 70+ mile round trip...

I gotta give kudos to the USPS, UPS & Fed-Ex & their employees these days... Highly organized, fast & efficient delivery services has been my experience. I personally think Bezos is scamming the share holders with his so called proprietary "delivery" system (growth). It may prove successful, but only on a very limited scale in very populus big city areas only. AMZ would only be duplicating efficient services that already exist.

If'n folks can just dig 2,500 tons of gold outta the ground every year, why do people expect it to continue to be worth anything? Seems to me it is a losing proposition if we ain't burning/using that much per year.

Cuz:

..and most of those 7.4 Billion people believe that gold has a limited supply and will eventually run out. Still I think your point has validity. I mean, not much gold is really consumed or deployed in such a way as to make it difficult to re-purpose later. It's one reason I prefer silver at this time.

Doesn't give a rat's rear about alleged dollar strength.

That's a nice move for silver in the face of a jump in the buck. Gold is lagging far behind, is there any specific news that anyone has seen to account for this oddity?

I've been theorizing for some while that silver would pickup now that Bitcoin has really been moving, so hopefully this is the start of something significant.

Looks like treasuries are selling off today.

@ Scorp.... Like I was saying, was looking for 3 consequitive rising days in VXX before buying... Also said I thought it could hit $20 maybe even less. Today a big reversal occurred in VXX, dropping from high $25's to below $23.00.... Which speaks to the hidden games that both FF & you have spoken of that occur in the VXX.

BB and I have been looking into this future for quite some time now,

RT is flat 'on it'..........they have it goin' on

What we have been imagining is what to do with humans??? It really is a interesting question. The marginalization of the human labor component, in full competition with a machine or machines.

Now would be a good time to be trained in industrial electricity and robot logic IMHO. If I didn't do a 16 hour day that would be my focus. Might become my focus despite the hours and long commute.

So this would weigh down on metals long term, right?
I think I'd look at it as they can mine low grade bodies longer before cost overruns. Will it make marginal bodies mineable? Tires, fuel, parts and labor are generally the highest cost, not necessarily in that order.

PIMCO sees possibility of China floating yuan in 2017

LONDON Asset management giant PIMCO said on Thursday it thought there was a chance China could freely float its currency, the yuan, this year.

The firm's head of Asian portfolios, Luke Spajic, said in a note Beijing was finding it impossible achieve three goals simultaneously: a stable or fixed foreign exchange rate, free capital movement and an independent monetary policy.

Combining tighter financial conditions with this policy trilemma therefore means the yuan would probably remain an "escape valve".

"Over the year, our base case is for the yuan to decline against the U.S. dollar by a mid- to high-single-digit percentage," Spajic said.

"However, we also think the possibility that the PBOC will allow the yuan to float freely, or at least widen its trading band, has increased."

Lady Liberty to be black woman on new US $100 coin

The US Mint and Treasury will for the first time issue a commemorative coin depicting Lady Liberty as a black woman.

The coin commemorates the Mint's 225th anniversary and shows Liberty with a crown of stars and a toga-like dress.

The 24-carat coin will weigh 28g (1oz) and have a face value of $100 (£80).

The US Mint says it plans to issue further coins depicting Liberty as women from ethnic minorities, such as Asian, Hispanic or Indian Americans.

Rhett Jeppson, the Mint's principal deputy director, told the New York Times newspaper that part of the intention was to "have a conversation about liberty - and we certainly have started that conversation". total of 100,000 of the Gold coins will be created, along with 100,000 silver reproductions of the image, called medals, that will sell for about $50, the newspaper reported.

A total of 100,000 of the Gold coins will be created, along with 100,000 silver reproductions of the image, called medals, that will sell for about $50, the newspaper reported.

The coins will go on sale on 6 April.

Coins bearing new designs will be issued every two years, the Mint said in a statement.

that is one ugly fookin' coin

I wouldn't buy one with your money
Yep, the 1792 date represents the year of the first "coinage act" by Congress.

Coinage Acts

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coinage_Act_of_1792

My assessment of the history of the Acts & more importantly the question of WHY specie coinage of substance was always scarce. Could it be that the Anglo-European money power was constantly draining the American bi-metallic coinage standard creating scarcity of circulation in the American economy? A.K.A. taking profits from the newly organized (by constitution) corporate trading company titled United States of America. "WE THE PEOPLE"then set up de facto corpora political investment sub-division estates. Organized like common stocks ([e]state bonds]) & prefered stocks (U.S. T-bonds & notes). By this means there are various levels of extraction, municiple & county bonds came later.... Bonds are just short for bond-age, "He who owes is a SLAVE to the lender."

Looking at the Acts since 1913, the Fed has been an abject failure to the average majority of U.S. economy participants & a boom for a small minority. Judge grom the Feds past performance, one can only conclude that this institution IS NOT a failure, or it would have been replaced or reorganized long ago... one can only conclude that the institution is fulfilling its ACTUAL role as designed. This reminds me of the sage wisdom of Frederick Bastiat...

"When plunder becomes a way of life for a group of men in a society, over the course of time they create for themselves a legal system that authorizes it and a moral code that glorifies it." --Frederick Bastiat, THE LAW

big moves this am with gold up 20 and silver up 30, while crude is up 74

the dollar continues to correct, and has tipped under 101 now to 100.82.

is the rush to the dollar now over, or is it taking a temp break in the action?
