Had a happy flock of Cedar Waxwings frolicking outside my window this AM. My phone cam was only good enough to get a positive ID from my personal ornithologist so below is for top
Looks like the top one was sticking his feathers in the Cheetos.

Cedar Waxwings are awesome. We had some Russian olive trees in the yard where I grew up. On occasion a flock of waxwings would come and line up on a branch and they would pass the olives down the line from bird to bird.

No job, got "let go" yesterday because someone wants to trim the budget. Anyway, it's pouring rain, so I go out and take a few pictures while the creek is high and in the process get completely soaked.
This is Uvas Canyon County park here in CA.

I'll just go back to "consulting", which means working a few months every year and then camping the rest of the time. The boss is a jerk and I don't miss it, but thanks for the sentiment!

Very nice Mr Cat! The horizontal rock fractures make very dramatic flows.
Thanks! There are a few nice spots around here like that. A number of small waterfalls.

I was admiring that staircase in the last pic.
I couldn't tell you how many times I have walked up and down that staircase.

What is it you were doing?
GH, I am a chemist by training. Lately, I've been synthesizing chemicals used in coating glass for architectural applications. Think Smart Glass or anti-reflective.

IOW a Brainiac! I never did understand chemistry. Got a 'C' in college (enuf to graduate!), however I have made my own varnish using raw linseed oil and fossilized amber to create a long-chain polymer... stuff is hard as nails, but takes at least a year to fully dry. Strad used the same back in the day...

I would love to see a bobcat.

The local fox just made a snow fort in the ditch by my house. I didn't know they did that but I guess it makes sense since they do that in the dirt.

10 years ago we've finished a longish, uphill par 3 in Fountain Hills. I missed the green badly left, into some thick cabbage and hoping for a 5. I thwack it out with a wedge and it lands on the green 20+ feet from the hole. Against all odds I make the putt. Feeling rather good I'm heading up the 30 degree cart path to the next hole, cajoling with the other guys when we make the turn to the teebox. Sitting in the center of the back tee was a bobcat! Just sitting there on it's haunches, looking around, taking in the sun and scenery and could care less that we were there. No cell phone handy thus no picture. We sat there for what seemed the longest time...was it going to approach us...?
I finally said.."Either tee it up or we need to play through!"
That bobcat striped it down the pipe 280, hit the 2nd shot on, made the birdie and we never caught up the rest of the day. Sometimes ya gotta push the slow outoftowners. We knew it was from Canada because it was 50 degrees and it had on a short sleeve shirt and plaid shorts with high black socks. "Eh?"

The 1st part is true...I did par that hole!

Is it safe to come back in here again?

Anyhoo- I think I ran into Zed the other day in the radiology department, back for more x-rays. Called out his name but no response so maybe not.

Here is a shot my son took with his drone. My whole reason to post this is the fantastic resolution from his drone camera.
Note the red circle around the freeway sign. I enlarged it on a whim, & look what I got. Watsonville 1 1/4 Miles !
