In and around 1700 Peter The Great instituted a beard tax and if a man had paid it was required to wear a beard token around his neck. (Great piece of history).
I've been looking into getting one but on ebay it looks like a lot of 'tribute' crap. Other entries are vague and could be reproductions.
Has anyone on here tried to get a genuine token? Maybe the cost is prohibitive?

wow, i've read about it, a long while back, beard taxes but never followed up on that info
since a collector base came out of the middle class, and especially since chinese folks have access to coin presses, rarities and reproductions are probably everywhere
