if the communists get their way = we are all driving golf carts of various ilk

oil usage for gasoline, diesel, bunker fuel, jet, etc dies off. oil still used for chemicals, asphalt, etc

should long term investors be easing out of the oils and into elec? nat gas, elec generators, grid builders, battery builders, etc

asking for a friend......that has a bit of oil holdings

Gonna take a while for that shift away from oil usage to take place. Not gonna happen overnight. And a lot of the large oil companies are already factoring that change into their long term plans (think BP).

Watch the oil companies to see how they are adjusting/adapting to changes, and also watch the electric utilities to see how they are adapting. Southern Power, for example, has plans to build out an electric car charging network through their service territory. Could be opportunities on the other side of that shift...assuming it does actually take place.

As much as the watermelon brigade want it to happen (and forcing the issue to their detriment), petroleum isn't going anywhere for at least a few decades if not more. Far too much capital is invested in petroleum and the world has far too much dependence on it and its byproducts for it to simply go away.

idk, with all of the old stories of how many wells have been capped in places like Alaska, yet we're inundated with companies ripping it out of the sands.......

literally the oil industry has been so ruined, it's tough to get a proper read

i was 'there' when the majors removed themselves from consumer gasoline sales and consolidated their power with resourcing the oil back in 04-05 and they've not looked back...

they knew what was coming, way back then

we weren't told for another decade........

Heck no, but with this caveat. If we see a lot of people wind up dead we are going to need a heck of a lot less oil.

Think beyond the obvious energy use case for petroleum.

Pretty much every product is plastic (complete or partial), almost every fertiliser is made from petroleum or its byproducts.
