I haven't seen anyone talk about these guys yet, and they seem cheap for silver bars. I ordered two 5 oz. bars today, will post my experience once I take delivery.

I've never bought from them directly. These are my favorite design of silver bars. I am currently waiting for a shipment of the 5 ozers from APMEX. I just swung buy APMEX and noticed that the don't sell Silvertowne at all now???

I purchased some of the fivers from APMEX and PM, but neither have any 5 oz. bars in stock anymore. The Silvertowne website has 1, 5, & 10 oz. bars for less anyway. Add in zero CC fees and free shipping and it's a no brainer.

We'll see how the order fulfillment goes.

Yeah, please keep us updated. With no credit card fees, you could buy from silvertowne, and immediatly sell on ebay for a profit. Could add to your stack pretty quickly.....

Being a resident of the fine state of Indiana, I am forced to pay 7% sales tax on all the items I buy from Silvertowne. And that is a down right shame since my mom and dad live six miles from the shop.

Any and all transactions in the place of business is subject to sales tax. It does not matter if you are a resident or not. That would be like saying that when I go on vacation to another state I am exempt for paying sales tax in the state I am visiting because I pay cash. Now I can buy on line or over the phone and have it shipped to an out of state address and be fine according to one of their associates (I am just supposed to be a good tax payer and report it on my state income taxes).

A few hours away, I get to their physical location a couple times a year. Great selection, and they have everything gold silver and fiat under the sun. Everyone there is great except the one elitist aloof guy, who can be a really heavy douche to newbies and old folks.

I know exactly who you are talking about. But the counter girls are a pleasure to work with.

OK, so finally got my order today! Just a simple pair of 5 oz. bars.

I ordered on the 19th (early AM), process was very simple. I received an order confirmation immediately. The next day, my impatience got the best of me and I sent an email asking what their lead time was for shipping. Soon after I got an email stating 5 - 7 days. I'm guessing that's standard, but I didn't see anywhere when I ordered.

I actually got an email from UPS with a tracking order on the 22nd, so just a 3 day wait time. I'm guessing if the 22nd hadn't been a Friday, I would have gotten the order sooner, but 2 business days later I have them, so no complaints.

Overall the process is simple and easy. Not as fast as PM, but faster than APMEX. I got what I ordered, with no issues. Communication response times are fast.

Basically, the biggest draw for this vendor would have to be small volume purchasers (like me). If you like to use your debit/credit card or paypal for small purchases with no fees, this one of only two options I know of. Also, their 1 oz, 5 oz, and 10 oz. bars are all $1.49 over spot (at the time of my order and this writing), regardless of the size or volume purchased. Right now, these bars are all offered with free shipping as well. I don't know how long this will last, but that's a great deal for the low volume "silver is silver" crowd.

Unfortunately, they recently added a "7-10 day delay" notice to the silver bars! Oh well, I'm still buying some more this week. They also have 2010 silver maples (singular or 25pc tube) with free shipping right now, didn't check the premium though as I already bought my 2010 tube.

I'm giving a 5 out of 5 as long as they keep that free shipping on bars! To me, that makes purchasing small volume ingots the best deal I've found to date.

Update:
Just went to see if that "7-10 day delay" was gone yet. It is now a "14 day delay". :(

They overcharged me $5 per troy ounce on some of the silver items I ordered. They continue to send me their catalogs with precious metal bars and coins on them even though I specifically asked them when I ordered to please not do that because of the epidemic of armed home invasions in my small hometown.

I hate these people now and one star is a star too many for these crooks, but since it's the lowest option available in the poll, I will reluctantly give them that one star.

Needed to sell some triple nine for a medical bill. Called them up since they live real close. Spot was $36.60 (from Kitco) when I called yesterday. They offered to buy at $34.80. I don't even know why I try and do business with them. They insult my intelligence every time.

I have only bought from them at the latest F.U.N. coin show last weekend in Orlando. I bought 15 silver rounds at .50 over spot. May have been an abberation but, it was the best deal on rounds and art bars at the show.

My experience with them buying direct, was some slabbed ATBs. I am a satisfied customer, good price, no hassles with the order.

Does anyone know a company that offers prices as good as Silvertowne taking into consideration they only charge a small premium over melt while also not charging fee for using a credit card and they even have free shipping

Tulving? Don't they have a minimum purchase? I mean for small purchases. Say for instance you wanna get a troy ounce of silver every paycheck... and don't wanna pay more than a couple dollars over melt (shipping included)

I can't find anyone better than Silvertowne.

Yes Tulving. They do have high minimum purchases, but you asked if there was anyone better. Silvertowne is great for small orders, I have been very happy with my purchases so far from them.

5 Stars from me.

About 7 - 8 orders from them and all have been easy and cheap.

They put Leon Hendrickson for the return address.

My latest order had $16.67 on the shipping label...cost me nothing for shipping...

Every little bit helps the DCA!

I suggest you get on as many metals email lists as possible. When the deals roll through you will be notified.

Appreciate the feedback but I am sure we all would ask that return addresses not be made public, for obvious reason. Thanks.:(

For me it said "Silver Towne, L.P." on the box. Would help if they were a little more secretive.

just finished another deal with them, its tough to beat their prices on 90% with free shipping and payment with a credit card. their good customer service is an added bonus in my book, my package came addressed from leon hendrickson, the owner.

How was the quality of the 90%?

Any bad coins? turned black, polished, or severely worn etc.?

Any AU/BU mixed in?

Has anyone had any experience buying %90 coins from them? If so how is the quality? Thinking about purchasing some along with some of their bars.

Just received my fifth order with them and I must say that they have the fastest shipping than anyone else I've done biz with. Really like the no extra charges on CC orders and their specials. I can't say I'm very fond of their own brand-name products, but the free shipping on some of those items can make me overlook that. Their product selection isn't as large as some other online dealers, but I believe they are a good quality company. 4 stars.

I noticed today that in addition to their extruded/struck Ag bars, they also offer a poured bar in 5 and 10 toz.

I normally don't reply to my own posts, but in this case, it is appropriate. I just got a 5oz poured bar and it is a complete POS. One side (the cope side, I assume) is full of blowholes, as you can see from my photos (no where near TomD quality, sorry!). I have contacted ST to ask if this is typical of their poured bars. Really, this looks like a Jr. HS shop project. I am a professional foundryman and I can tell you that something like this, made by my company, would NEVER have gone to the customer.
