Dewalt- 1st place for the Worst Lawn Mower of the year
Stanley "Dirt Monkey" Genadek

Published on Jul 2, 2018
The Dewalt flexvolt Lawn mower Loses on both Torque & Run time. For a push mower its weak-struggling with 4" dewed Grass. On top of that we got 3 1/2 paths into our lawn and the previously full batteries were completely discharged. You've got to see this one to believe it. And if you still want to buy it-well here you go.... https://amzn.to/2NaIN4L

Burned Out Pulley ► Maintenance Day! New Blades, ShockStrap, Fence Armor!
Brian's Lawn Maintenance

Published on Jul 7, 2018
This evening I had to run to my dealer Weingartz to grab a few items, including a brand new pulley for the mower. On the last lawn that we did, we had a burned out pulley, which desperately had to be replaced.

While I was there, I picked up another fresh set of blades to change out while I was already going to have everything torn apart. It was super hot and sticky out, but we did what we had to do and got the job done.

I wanted to share two new products in this video as well, that being ShockStrap and the other being Fence Armor. Both products are pretty neat and, provide a lot of benefit for what they do.

Fence Armor is designed to protect your fence posts and, help keep intact the main posts of your fence, and avoid chipping, wear and tear, and damage to your fence from trimmers. I think it's a pretty neat product and, the folks behind it are just great people. Check them out!

Toro Grand Stand MultiForce Debrief ► Day In The Life Lawn Care Vlog ► Mowing Tall Grass
Brian's Lawn Maintenance

Published on Jul 11, 2018
So after putting about 5-6 hours on our Toro Grand Stand Multi-Force demo, it was time to turn her in and report back to you guys. I will say, it was a fun experience trying out the Toro Grand Stand, but I have mixed feelings on the unit.

Overall it was a decent mower, but there were a handful of things I didn't like. Outside of that, I feel that when you try to do so many things at once, you end up not really doing one thing exceptional. This rang true when using the unit as a dedicated mower.

I went over a few things I liked, a few things I didn't, but towards the later half of the day, we did some mowing tall grass tests. This was a challenge Stan did against the Husqvarna 554. I will say this, the Toro did NOT cut any better than that 554.

In fact, I was quite surprised and, a little disappointed. Truthfully, that was kind of the story of the day with the Toro. Tons of hype from a lot of you guys but, there were a few things that stuck out to me like a sore-thumb.

Now all things being equal, it did mow just fine on my residential properties (just like the Husky). But the mower seemed a little lack luster. I think it's going to have it's strength with it's expandable capabilities, but when it comes to just being a mower, it just wasn't very overwhelming.

Love to hear your guys' thoughts on the Grand Stand Multi-Force. What do you guys think about the unit? Leave me a comment down below!

Chainsaw question, I've never had a Poulan saw and see a refurbished 33cc one on eBay for $88. Don't go buy it, just let me know if you think it's a good saw. I need a smaller/lighter one for limbing and this would be perfect.

The best advice I can give is that it's a used piece of equipment. Maybe see how it runs and give it a test before buying. If you think it's ok - buy it. If the owner won't go along with a test run I would split the scene.

Good luck.

Broken Husqvarna 450 clutch cover - fixed?
Matthew Olson

If you are looking for aftermarket chainsaw parts, please support my channel by buying from these guys:

Disclaimer: ladies and gents, this is a CHAINSAW, working with, building and fiddling with these can KILL YOU, I am not and will not be responsible for improper technique or accidents even remotely relating to this video, please view for entertainment purposes only.

Up here is a clutch cover from Tim. His dealer couldn't actuate this. I spent about an hour fiddling with it from 12:30AM - 1:30AM and couldn't get it either, then tried with the 3 prong clutch tool I made for a 262xp out of an old socket. I used a breaker bar here and it worked!. I think ultimately having the black plastic spring cover properly down in the right place helped, and having a good grip on the actuator with a 3 pronged adapter helped too. I think the brake handle will be able to do it at this point so I'm going to ship it back to him. He has shown me photos of the brake handle and it seems obvious that it'll work if he has a good one.

Here's the thread on AS:

Stihl ms462c-m Redwood Coast - Initial Impressions
hotsaws101

Published on Jul 7, 2018
I had a chance to fell a few coast piss fir, Sikta spruce, redwoods, even an alder and we are at ~ 1.5 days into this strip. Still getting the chains dialed in for the "coasty" wood.
Initial impressions - this saw BARKS with a 28" bar & chain! The "flickability" is awesome for it's size and displacement. The handle bar configuration is more compact than it''s "latest rival" from Husqvarna. A more Extreme low mass saw coming in around 1.5/1.7 pounds less than it's larger displacement predecessor, the 461. This means it gives the 60cc saws a run for their money in the weight arena, which in turn also means this is the new go to saw with a 28" bar, for me anyway.
A little less low end grunt than the 461 is also noticeable. This is partially because of the super lightweight flywheel now fitted which has far less reciprocating mass.
I like the software/fuel delivery and curve of the coil as well. Seems refined when bumping up against the rev limiter. There was some attention to detail when analyzing and developing the new system for this saw.
Fit and finish is excellent as well. New design (1 piece) cylinder cover is mated perfectly to the cases, recoil assembly and carb box.
Overall, a nice saw for felling some of the smaller and mid sized timber.
Thanks for watching.

What's The Best Octane For Hand Held Equipment? What About Ethanol?
Brian's Lawn Maintenance

Published on Jul 14, 2018
A lot of you guys recently asked me a great question about 2 stroke mix, and 2 stroke fuel. Specifically, what is the best octane or fuel mixture for our handheld equipment.

I know a lot of new folks are getting into the industry today, and there is also a lot of confusion about what fuel we should all be using. Now I am not an engineer by any means, but I know someone who could provide some technical answers.

Jason Wilk is with ECHO, and he is one of their main guys as a product manager. Him and I spent a lot of time talking over the last 18 months, discussing little technical questions about topics just like this.

I wanted to get Jason on the phone and get a solid concise answer, that you guys could understand, about what's the best suggested fuel for us to be using on our 2 stroke equipment.

Hope you guys enjoyed Jason and my discussion on the difference between 87, 89, 93, and even a few tips about Ethanol and what to look out for.

If you're a skimmer kind of like me, and you want the quick answer: Just use 89 or above. :-)

Sharpening Dull Lawn Mower Blades!! ► Worth It Or Bust? ► 1 Year Update On The Oregon Blade Grinder
Brian's Lawn Maintenance

Published on Jul 16, 2018
I wanted to give you guys a 1 year update on the Oregon Blade grinder and share my techniques on sharpening dull lawn mower blades! A lot of you guys asked me if this Oregon blade grinder has been a great investment, or if it's been a bust.

I will admit it took a little getting used to when sharpening lawn mower blades, but compared to the old style for me which was with an angle grinder, the final result is so much better. I feel like the tips are far less rounded with this unit, and the angle of the blade is much more accurate to that 30 degree mark, then I was reaching with the angle grinder.

Of course this unit is a small investment (around $300), compared to an angle grinder or similar system ($50), but again, you get what you pay for. Looking back on it, some of you guys asked if I would've sprung for the 1HP vs the 1/3rd HP unit. The answer to that would be: maybe. I think the 1/3'rd HP unit has enough power, but if you have the extra $200 to throw down for the 1HP unit, I'd say go for it.

I wanted something somewhere in the middle that was budget friendly, but still offered a pro-like sharpening like my dealer can offer. Again, some grinder's are upwards of a thousand dollars. This was a happy medium for me and for my sized business.

If you guys want to pick one up, here is the link for it on Amazon. A lot of you guys have picked them up over the last 12 months, which is cool. I've heard pretty much all positive feedback from everyone who's snatched one up. Thanks in advanced for the support via Amazon if you do pick one up.

Husqvarna 562xp vs. 576xp
hotsaws101

Published on Jul 18, 2018
A Psy-Ko version 562xp versus a stock 576xp with a new topend - about as close as you can get run time wise on their cylinder assemblies.
The 576s are rare in this neck of the woods and this one was not the auto- tune version, unfortunately.
This chain was set up for Spruce/Alder/Redwood, not nasty, old, bone dry Fir. Had a slight chain glitch in the 562xp run. I mentioned a/the not so good test sawing ~ 6:17 but did not reference the 562xp - sorry.
Appears to me that even with the hiccup during the test run the 562xp experienced, it still made it through the cut a little bit faster.
I am currently available for custom saw modifications. If you are interested, please shoot m an email.

ECHO 58v Battery Powered Review ► Is Battery Powered Equipment Worth It?
Brian's Lawn Maintenance

Published on Jul 25, 2018
ECHO sent us their 58v Battery Powered equipment a few weeks back for us to test, share, and review for you guys. It's been about 8 weeks now, and I wanted to share with you guys a quick walk around and debrief on the OPE line.

Now most of you guys know I am a big fan of ECHO and their equipment, but when it came to battery, I was going to pass. After numerous conversations however, I came to find out the 58v line from ECHO had a few differences than the other brands I was using.

ECHOs battery items had a few features that were just not present on other brands. Including brushless motors, higher voltage batteries, (although the max amp was 4.0 for what is out currently), an ECHO Speedfeed head for the timmer, and an insanely powerful 500+cfm handheld blower.

All things being said, I am curious to hear your guys thoughts and opinions on the future of battery powered equipment. I think it totally makes sense for the average home owner out there, but I just don't see it yet for the contractor.

I know a lot of folks have marketed their business as "going green" and the fact that they can reduce noise pollution, but I personally am not yet convinced. After trying a bunch of equipment from a bunch of brands, I feel there is still progress and strides to be made.

I feel we are headed in the right direction with run time and performance, but I still feel we have a lot of room to grow. Perhaps in the future, battery OPE may be the way to go as technology progresses. What do you guys think? Leave me a comment down below!

Jonsered cs2172 vs. Husqvarna 372xp (X-Torq) What's Different?? And Shop Tools For Rebuilds

Published on Jul 29, 2018
Realized we talk a lot about the Jonsered 2166 & 2172 but never put a camera on one. SO wanted to update my personal one to a more reliable configuration while keeping it as a "sample" of what Stock saws are. Presented a perfect opportunity to discuss the differences between the two brands offerings in that 70cc Pro & "Land Owner" class.

Also provided an opportunity to do a "show & tell" on my shop tools used to break that series of saws down to do bottom end repairs.

Stihl ms462c m Vs. Husqvarna 572xp
hotsaws101

Published on Jul 29, 2018
I think that the 32" bar is a good test length for these two. It shows the differential between them - with is not much in essence.
My timing shows the 572 to be ~ two seconds faster in the cut. This corroborates my statements replying in a few videos and posts about the 462 being more of a 28" bar saw. Not that is doesn't handle this 32" bar pretty well. It's just with an over square engine design and super liteweight, the 462 is better suited using a shorter bar - imho anyway.
The state of tune in the 462 is, for the most part, Psy-Ko SS which is about as far as a guy can go and have it look stock. The 572 is has the standard Psy-Ko zipkit and can be made to run stronger than seen here.
I do apologize for the bar change miscue, I plead heat stroke.....

THE BEST OFF GRID GENERATOR
Tiny House Listings

Published on Aug 3, 2018
A companion item for virtually all off grid living scenarios (unless you get tons of sun all the time and have a very big solar setup) is a good, dependable, efficient generator. The generator I share with you is, I feel, exactly that. It's a 2,000 inverter generator by a company called WEN. It's super reliable, very efficient and it's much more cost-effective than it's competitors (Yamaha generator and Honda generator) although I would say it's just as good, perhaps better than these two. I did not notice toooooo much "slammering" in this video.
I thought the content included encompasses the main points. There is some minutia, but that's going to be a surprise for the new owners.
Some of the flow characteristic points mentioned I do have ideas on but need some more time for research on them.
Overall, where a super, maxi, liteweight saw is required, this one may fit the bill. The all plastic cases will not handle being dropped from a very far distance imho. So, better watch you top knot!

Stihl ms440/044 Vs 462c-m
hotsaws101

Published on Aug 4, 2018
The 440 is technically a hybrid between an super low hour 044 bottomend that I picked up a few years ago and new 440 topend and carb. So I referenced it as a 440 since that is what is driving the process. Call it what you like - it has the best of both.
I was a little surprised to see how well the Psy-Ko zipkitted 044/440 handled the Psy-Ko SS 462. The 462 is just about as far (one fuzz left) as a guy can go and still look stock. the 044/440 has one more level to go.
I posted this video first since it refences the 441/372 saw-off and will be ordered later.
This is the same bar & chain used in the 462/572 saw off so it will be a good comparison for the 572 and 440/044 as well.
Old school spanking new school. "Yuh gotta love it"!

Stihl ms200 T Vs. Insane-o-ized Echo cs-2511T
hotsaws101

Published on Aug 6, 2018
As mentioned, the bar & chain is the same one used when these two first squared off. Untouched since then as well.
Relatively close at wide open throttle rpms wise.
Not even close rpms wise at wide open throttle when cutting.
The 2511T can be heard still missing quite a bit when cutting and it still gets close to the ms200. A second, second and a half by my calculations. You be the judge.
I tried a pressure variance in the test run starting ~ 12:00 in the time line. That did seem to help a little but yielded a bound chain.
Tried application variance the second test run starting ~ 12:25. that seemed to not bind or slow the cutting down.
Overall, a good showing for the "double extra little" saw that could.
Since they now have micro chain, Maybe the 2511T can be called a Super Micro Mini Howler.
