He seems to ignore the fact that we do not "default" on our debts by not raising the debt ceiling. The US just will not be able to borrow more money to spend. If it wants to spend, then like each of us, it will have to either cut somewhere else, or discover a way to raise more money.

What happened to all of those profits we heard that TARP repayment and the like were generating for the taxpayer?

And not only would no one do nothing about it, the media would attack anyone who opposed it.

Sadly, you are probably correct. Plus, all of the lawsuits challenging it would get stalled at the appeals court level, with the government lawyers doing everything in their power to slow track the progress of the case, like they are doing with the Obamacare challenges.
