Federal Agents Charge Four Democrat Toledo City Council Members in Bribery Investigation

1593728028189.png

Federal agents on Tuesday arrested four members of the Toledo City Council after a 2-year bribery investigation.

That makes a total of six Democrat officials to be charged within the last week.

Two Democrat Patterson councilmen were charged with voter fraud a couple days ago.

WTVG reported (emphasis our own):

Four members of the Toledo City Council have been accused of accepting bribes while in office, according to court documents obtained by 13abc on Tuesday.

At least three of those council members have been placed into federal custody. 13abc crews were on the scene as council members Larry Sykes and Yvonne Harper were placed into custody. Federal documents also implicate council members Gary Johnson and Tyrone Riley.

According to a criminal complaint filed with the U.S. District Court, Councilman Sykes faces complaints of “Reciept of Bribe by Agent of Organization Receiving Federal Funds” and “Hobbs Act Extortion Under Color of Official Right.” In the affidavit filed along with the complaint, council members Harper, Riley, and Jonson are also named as subjects.

The documents reveal an unnamed source who owns several commercial properties, primarily gas stations and convenience stores in Toledo, pointed the finger at councilman Tyrone Riley.

The alleged pay for votes scheme then unraveled over the next two years and according to the feds involved Yvonne Harper, Larry Sykes, and Gary Johnson.

The court documents detail how each of the council members allegedly accepted payments in the range of five hundred to five thousand dollars for ‘yes’ votes on zoning requests to internet cafes.

If convicted the council members could face 10 years for bribery and 20 years for extortion along with 250-thousand dollars in fines.

Susan Rice Accidentally Proved Barack Obama (Not Trump) Is Guilty of Dereliction of Duty

Despite the fact the allegation that Trump ignored intelligence on alleged Russian bounties on U.S. troops has been debunked, the left is still clinging to the story, hoping it will be their next Trump/Russia collusion hoax. Barack Obama’s former national security adviser Susan Rice recently penned an op-ed in the New York Times, essentially disputing the claims that Trump wasn’t aware of the intelligence. “As a former national security adviser, I find it exceedingly difficult to believe that no one told Mr. Trump about this intelligence,” she claimed.

Here’s what should have happened. Had I, as national security adviser, received even “raw” reporting that Russia was paying to kill U.S. service members, I would have walked straight into the Oval Office to brief the president.

Contrary to the spin-masters in the White House today, I would not have waited until we had absolute certainty. I would have said, “Mr. President, I want to make sure you are aware that we have troubling reporting that Russia is paying the Taliban to kill our forces in Afghanistan. I will work with the intelligence community to ensure the information is solid. In the meantime, I will convene the national security team to get you some options for how to respond to this apparent major escalation in Russia’s hostile actions.”

If later the president decided, as Mr. Trump did, that he wanted to talk with President Vladimir Putin of Russia at least six times over the next several weeks and invite him to join the Group of 7 summit over the objections of our allies, I would have thrown a red flag: “Mr. President, I want to remind you that we believe the Russians are killing American soldiers. This is not the time to hand Putin an olive branch. It’s the time to punish him.”

This is what would have happened in any prior administration of either political party.

According to Rice, “That it apparently did not is deeply troubling and raises myriad questions.”

If Mr. Trump was told about Russian actions, why did he not respond? If he was not told, why not? Are his top advisers utterly incompetent? Are they too scared to deliver bad news to Mr. Trump, particularly about Russia? Is Mr. Trump running a rogue foreign policy utterly divorced from U.S. national interests? If so, why?

Rice’s argument is belied by the facts. The intelligence wasn’t simply “raw” or “unverified.” An “intelligence official with direct knowledge” told Catherine Herridge of CBS News that intel on alleged Russian bounties only reached “low levels” of the NSC but “did not go further” because it was deemed “uncorroborated” and because of “dissent” within the intelligence community regarding its accuracy. The Department of Defense also said there was no corroborating evidence for the Russian bounties claim. An NSC official also told Herridge that a review of Trump’s Presidential Daily Briefings showed that the intelligence assessment about the Russian bounties was not included in them. If the intelligence was disputed and uncorroborated, it seems very unlikely that anyone would have made a point to inform Trump about this intelligence. If presidents were made aware of every bit of disputed and uncorroborated intelligence there was, one can only imagine how little time there would be for anything else.

Here Are The Thousands Of Investment Advisors And Portfolio Managers Who Received Government Bailouts

Today the Treasury and the Small Business Administration released the full list of companies that received Paycheck Protection Program loans - which become grants and are fully forgivable if used to pay employee salaries and/or rent - for an amount greater than $150,000. The complete data, which includes a total of 661,219 recipients, can be accessed here.

As a reminder, the PPP was designed to help small businesses weather fallout from the coronavirus pandemic. It did so by funding small and medium companies with 500 employees or less; the loan/grant was meant to cover up to two and a half months of worker compensation (capped at an annualized $100,000) or in other words, the Treasury would provide at most $8,333 per employee for 2.5 months. That, at least, was the theory - in practice, things ended up being different.

To be sure, the PPP program helped a broad swath of organizations, including small restaurants, construction firms, retail locations and non-profits. Many of the conventional recipients of PPP loans were restaurant chains were struggling before the pandemic and were hit particularly hard by the health crisis, since they focus on dine-in service instead of to-go sales. Among them was P.F. Chang’s China Bistro Inc., a restaurant operator with more than 200 U.S. locations. Other restaurant chains included Mexican chain Rubio’s Restaurants Inc. and California-based Black Angus Steakhouses LLC.

That said, there was some "peculiar" recipients: among the recipients were Boies Schiller, the law firm headed by antitrust litigator David Boies, the Girl Scouts of the United States of America, Illinois-based megachurch Willow Creek Community Church and the prominent New York synagogue Temple Emanu-El.

Yet while many businesses legitimately needed the funds to continue operations as without the PPP emergency cash infusion thousands of businesses would have shut down and been forced to layoff millions of workers, when it comes to a certain subset of recipients, questions have emerged.

Take for example NAICS code 523930 which is defined as "Investment Advisors", or companies who are paid very generous fees to anticipate precisely the kind of downturn that the covid unleashed and to steer their business successfully through it, especially since many - such as this blog - were repeatedly warning about the potentially catastrophic consequences of the global pandemic as early as January.

FARRELL: Benghazi Terror Attacks Led To Crossfire Hurricane

In the last week, Judicial Watch released eighty new pages of documents relating to the September 11, 2012, terrorist attacks on U.S. government facilities in Benghazi, Libya, in which Ambassador Christopher Stevens and three other Americans were killed. The new release shows top Obama White House officials scrambling to “evolve” their false claims that the attack began “spontaneously” in response to an anti-Muslim YouTube video. This was part of a coordinated campaign to “reinforce” President Obama and to portray the Benghazi consulate terrorist attack as being “rooted in an Internet video, and not a failure of policy.”

The Benghazi lie was pushed heavily by then-UN Ambassador Susan Rice, who was dispatched to five Sunday morning political talk shows to peddle the YouTube video falsehood. Meanwhile, then-Deputy National Security Advisor Ben Rhodes, then-NSC spokesman Tommy Vietor, and then-Deputy Chief of Staff Jake Sullivan were joking about how clever they had sold their damage control to a credulous press corps.

An official whose name is redacted writes, “Everyone know [sic] Susan was using not just [Intelligence Community] approved guidance, but IC created.” Rhodes jokes to Sullivan and the redacted officials, “At least you’re only a liar. Could be worse – we’re liars and also allegedly leakers.” “We’re only lying footsoldiers,” Sullivan replies. “You’re lying masterminds. That’s cooler.”

“I prefer that we go by henchmen,” a redacted official riffs. “Has more of a Marvel comic sinisterness to it.” He then jokes about the need for a cable TV show called “The Biggest Liar” where the contestants wear polygraphs under questioning. “It could be worse,” Rhodes writes, “You could be a career bureaucrat whose greatest thrill in life is leaking half-truths, self-justifications and outright lies to the likes of Eli Lake, Kim Dozier, and whoever picks up the phone at Fox News.” They also discuss long-term plans for releasing an “evolving assessment” of the attack “which happens to be true (unlike just about everything else we’ve seen reported on Benghazi.)”

The level of smug arrogance revealed in these emails is beyond anything we have yet seem from the remarkably condescending Obama team. It is also important to note the complete emotional detachment from the tragedy that took place, the deaths of four Americans at the hands of terrorists, and the pain and grief suffered by their families. Not only were these swamp dwellers lying about what happened, they were inordinately proud of themselves for getting away with it.

Former LA City Councilman Mitchell Englander pleads guilty to obstructing investigation into City Hall corruption

Former Los Angeles City Councilman Mitchell Englander pleaded guilty on Tuesday to a federal criminal charge of obstructing an investigation into whether he accepted cash, escort services and other gifts from a businessman involved in major real estate development projects in the city.

Englander is among four defendants who agreed to plead guilty in the ongoing federal probe of Los Angeles City Hall that ensnared Councilman Jose Huizar. Englander is the third to formally enter a plea before a judge.

Huizar is scheduled to be arraigned later this month.

Englander faces up to five years in prison on the single count count of scheming to falsify material facts, although prosecutors are recommending no more than three years as part of his plea deal, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office.

According to the indictment, the unnamed businessman involved in the case wanted to increase his business opportunities in Los Angeles. The businessman cooperated with the FBI in the investigation.

Englander was taken into custody March 9 after he was named in a seven-count indictment returned by a grand jury on Jan. 16, according to prosecutors.

Englander was initially charged with one count of participating in a scheme to falsify material facts, three counts of making false statements and three counts of witness tampering.

His sentencing hearing is set for Sept. 28.

Billionaire-backed members club Soho House received up to $22 MILLION in government bail-out loans after six different branches all asked for cash

Global private membership club Soho House, which is valued at $2 billion, received as much as $22 million in six different loans intended for small businesses as part of the Trump

Administration’s coronavirus bailout program, new records show.

Sanctioned under the Payment Protection Program (PPP), the loans went to six of the company’s US locations, situated in Los Angeles, Chicago, Miami and New York, for between $350,000 and $10 million each.

The loans came as part of a rush to inject billions into the economy as the coronavirus pandemic hit.

PPP funding was intended to help small and medium-sized businesses weather the economic storm posed by subsequent lockdown orders.

Following mounting pressure to disclose specifically which businesses received loans through PPP - established by President Trump's CARES Act - the Small Business Administration released records on Monday listing every recipient.

According to those records, Soho House & Co saved 1,996 jobs across all of its US locations thanks to the government funding.

Whistleblower: New Epstein Tapes Show Top Supreme Court Justice Being Blackmailed
BY CLOVERCHRONICLE ON JULY 7, 2020
Early Tuesday morning, a whistleblower who allegedly works in the federal circuit revealed a Supreme Court justice was seen in various “Epstein tapes” that were recently recovered by investigators:
“One of the SCOTUS [justices] is in the Epstein tapes that were recovered yesterday. I’m sure you can guess which one.
“The shocking part is the canary is telling the feds a certain nation state has been blackmailing this gentleman since prior to his nomination to SCOTUS.
“What does this mean? This justice was hand picked at the highest levels specifically because he was being controlled via blackmail. A sheep in wolf’s clothing appearing to be which he is not.
“Cat is out of the bag… or I should say almost.”
The “canary” the whistleblower is referring to may very well be Jeffrey Epstein’s former madam, Ghislaine Maxwell.
The “nation state” that has been blackmailing the justice was later confirmed to be “one of the 5 eyes”:
“…It’s not Israel. It’s not even Russia/China. One of the 5 eyes.”
After being prodded by readers to disclose the exact country, the whistleblower stated the following:
“I don’t know which country, but UK was in bed with our deep state intelligence agencies trying to dig up dirt on Trump. I don’t think that is even questioned anymore. Outside of my area of specific knowledge though.”
Also, since it was mentioned that the justice is a male (e.g. “gentleman”), some have speculated how it might be the Chief Justice.
The name “John Roberts” does in fact appear in Epstein’s infamous “little black book”:

There is a LOT more of it out there. Is this to control us? Is this a list that should take care of?

Agreed but then why is the real question? Lots of people spending lots of time trying to figure out what's going by dealing with the riddler.
We have jobs & lives, not time to see what way the tea leaves are spinning in the cup. Stop our lives & we will pay attention but lets see some action.

Today I was asked if I believed 100% yes or no do high ranking dems eat baby's. I'm not kidding. I said no but with a lot of but's in there.
I explained Adrenochrome, kids missing, why was that camp in NM with dead kids remains cleaned up so fast, Haiti, child trafficking, weiners laptop where 9 of 12 cops are dead, rumors of killary wearing a child's skin face like a mask, killinton death list, nwo and a whole lot more. I said if there is no fire why is there so much smoke? Why have the communists attacked Trump for 3+ years straight? Why is if he said it's light out they say it's dark? When did I become a racist? Why from the very beginning did they attack anyone that said "all lives matter"? When are the blacks going to understand they have a culture to improve & pants to pull up & jobs to get & fathers to be. I mentioned a few things and his answer is it's hard to have a discussion with anyone that thinks these things are happening. So I asked if he knew what Q is. He said he is just starting to investigate it but it seemed to be a way to control a segment of the population.

So that got me to thinking about the current war we are in.

Commies seems to be instigating the young troublemakers that have stated point blank give them their way or they burn it all down and the freedom to do it. Why because they have nothing to loose! To dumb to realize they have nothing to gain & are being used.

Older established people are being for a while held back by "Q" & hoping it is true. Why? Because they have things to loose and know if it's starts it will not end and America is over. Hoping things improve or get back to some sort of normal.

Face it right now the masses should be dragging these elected officials into the street & executing them. The replacement will think twice about letting anarchists build a country in the middle of the city, riot, loot, burn, destroy. Either we live in a civil society or we don't.

Q saying if she had won they had other dire options.......

If Q is reading this..... HAVE THEM QUIT SENDING EMAILS 75 TIMES A DAY ASKING FOR MONEY FOR TRUMP OR ANY OF THE OTHER UNDERCOVER ASSHATS! Yes I support Trump. I do not agree with everything but the alternative is so much worse. Actions speak louder than words. You don't have until after the election....... you don't have until labor day.............. you are out of time...................... Perp walks, heads on stakes, orange jump suits or your just blowing smoke up our asses. Do that & you will have so much support it will be a revolution. If you can't do it just make the list public & offer prez pardons. Actions speak louder than riddles. It don't have to be killary. I want holder & his F&F to swing and a whole list of other lessers would be a start.

Massachusetts AG: Harvard grad, former town accountant stole more than $729,000 from various cities

1594348085553.png

BOSTON, MA – WCVB 5abc reported that The Attorney General’s Office and Attorney General Maura Healey reported the accusation of theft and fraud by Justin Cole on Tuesday, July 7.

Cole is 38 years old and a graduate of Harvard.

Police say he stole money from the town of Uxbridge over a period of five years, 2012-2017. During this time, he was the town’s accountant. They are also accusing Cole of defrauding the towns of Monterey and Millville after leaving employment in Uxbridge.

Cole was indicted for stealing over $729,000 from various cities.

Prosecutors said Cole tendered and approved several false invoices causing Uxbridge to pay for services that were never provided.

Kelly Helped Secure Chinese Tech Giant's Stake in Firm

1594348198511.png
1594348208950.png

Mark Kelly, the former NASA astronaut trying to oust Arizona GOP Sen. Martha McSally, the first female fighter pilot to fly in combat, was far more involved in facilitating a Chinese investment in a space exploration company Kelly co-founded than his campaign has previously acknowledged, according to Chinese news reports quoting the company’s then-CEO Jane Poynter and statements Poynter made to RealClearPolitics.

The story from officials at World View, the company Kelly co-founded, about Chinese tech giant Tencent’s involvement in the company also has shifted in recent weeks as it’s faced more media scrutiny for its decision to accept two sets of investments from the Chinese company. Tencent is one of the world’s largest internet enterprises and the owner of the popular Chinese social media platform WeChat, a texting application with more than a billion users. In recent years, it has faced international scrutiny over widespread suspicions and reports that it monitors the activity of many of its users both inside and outside China.

Those security fears have only increased this year amid the coronavirus pandemic and rising concerns about Chinese disinformation, spying and surveillance. A recent University of Toronto study found that WeChat has been censoring keywords relating to the COVID-19 outbreak since at least Jan. 1. Just last week, India banned Tencent’s WeChat app over concerns that it was secretly stealing users’ data and sending it back to China.

Critics of U.S. companies with Chinese investors, including World View, say the Chinese government uses the business relationships to steal U.S. defense and tech secrets and boost its own economy, at America’s expense.

In 2012 Kelly and several other former NASA astronauts and space-exploration experts founded World View, an Arizona-based company offering to take scientific instruments and people into earth’s stratosphere. At first the company focused on space tourism as its business model, with plans to charge $75,000 per commercial passenger on flights to near outer space in a capsule attached to a huge helium balloon.

In recent years, however, the company has increasingly shifted to contracting with NASA and the Department of Defense to use the balloon, known as a Stratollite, to carry unmanned payloads for extended periods and provide imagery of the Earth with a resolution sharp to five centimeters, far better than satellites can offer.

Kelly served as a strategic adviser to World View until launching his Senate campaign last year. He maintains a $100,000-$250,000 financial stake in the company in non-public stock and stock options of $15,001 and $50,000, according to the financial disclosure records Kelly filed in his Senate bid. His eldest daughter also works there as the company’s business opportunity manager.

Additionally, Kelly’s campaign has accepted at least $5,000 from David Wallerstein, Tencent’s chief exploration officer, responsible for the company’s operations outside mainland China and business initiatives with multinational partners. Wallerstein’s North American investment company, called Mount McKinley, is a subsidiary of Tencent and shares an address with Tencent’s headquarters in China.

There’s 5 US attorney investigations ongoing (includes Durham)…I'm been told leakers are running scared. Whether leaking to hurt the current Admin, or leaking to help it.

First federal prisoner in 17 years executed hours after Supreme Court decision

Daniel Lewis Lee on Tuesday became the first federal prisoner executed in more than 17 years, just hours after the Supreme Court ruled 5-4 against a last-minute attempt to halt the execution.

Lee, 47, a white supremacist convicted of killing a family of three in 1996, was executed by lethal injection at the federal prison in Terre Haute, Ind., and pronounced dead at 8:07 a.m., according to the Bureau of Prisons.

“You’re killing an innocent man,” Lee said with his final words, according to a reporter with the Indianapolis Star who witnessed the execution

“You’re killing an innocent man.” #DanielLee last words before execution this morning, the first federal execution since 2003. Pronounced dead at 8:07 am #DeathPenalty

— Tim Evans (@starwatchtim) July 14, 2020

Lee's killing came just hours after the Supreme Court overruled a lower court and cleared the way for federal executions to be carried out for the first time since 2003.

The conservative majority court in an unsigned opinion issued around 2 a.m. rejected inmate claims that the lethal injection protocol adopted by the Department of Justice (DOJ) last year amounted to unconstitutionally cruel and unusual punishment.

The majority said vacating the lower court’s decision is warranted because the inmates are unlikely to succeed “on the merits of their Eighth Amendment claim,” which outlaws cruel and unusual punishment, and faced "an exceedingly high bar.”

The court’s four more liberal members, Justices Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Stephen Breyer, Sonia Sotomayor and Elena Kagan, dissented on various grounds.

Sotomayor, in a dissent joined by Ginsburg and Kagan, said the court’s “rush to dispose of this litigation in an emergency posture” removed the opportunity for a “meaningful judicial review of the grave, fact-heavy challenges respondents bring to the way in which the government plans to execute them.”

The Supreme Court ruling cleared the last substantive hurdle before Lee's execution, and hours later a federal appeals court in St. Louis removed the final procedural barrier.

“Today, Daniel Lewis Lee faced the justice he deserved," DOJ spokesperson Kerri Kupec said in a statement.

Ruth Friedman, an attorney for Lee, called the outcome shameful.

"It is shameful that the government saw fit to carry out this execution when counsel for Danny Lee could not be present with him, and when the judges in his case and even the family of his victims urged against it," Friedman said. "And it is beyond shameful that the government, in the end, carried out this execution in haste, in the middle of the night, while the country was sleeping. We hope that upon awakening, the country will be as outraged as we are."

A federal execution has not been carried out since 2003, due in part to a widespread shortage during the Obama administration of lethal injection drugs in the so-called three-drug cocktail.

Attorney General William Barr announced last July that federal capital punishment would resume with the use of a single drug, pentobarbital sodium.

The indictment charged Danny Lee and Chevie Kehoe with a number of offenses including murder in aid of racketeering in violation of 18 U.S.C. § 1959(a)(1). The defendants were accused of robbing and killing a gun dealer, his wife, and their eight-year old daughter in the course of seeking funds to support the Aryan Peoples Republic. The U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Arkansas filed notices of intention to seek the death penalty against both defendants under 18 U.S.C. § 3593(a).

FBI Crossfire Hurricane unit watched Trump the day he took oath of office

1595035752129.png

FBI Agent Peter Strzok and his FBI Crossfire Hurricane unit were focused on the White House during President Trump’s inauguration celebration, so much so that the “angry” agent complained he was kept out of the loop on a bureau counter-intelligence briefing there. Mr. Strzok, who would later be fired for his anti-Trump messages to FBI lawyer Lisa Page, erupted the day after Mr. Trump became president, according to newly released emails obtained by Judicial Watch, a conservative watchdog in Washington. Mr. Strzok said in an email to his boss, counter-intelligence chief Bill Priestap, he could have folded the FBI briefing into his strategy for investigating Trump associates. “I heard from [redacted] about the WH CI briefing routed from [redacted],” Mr. Strzok said. “I am angry that Jen [colleague Jennifer Boone] did not at least cc: me, as my branch has pending investigative matters there, this brief may play into our investigative strategy, and I would like the ability to have visibility and provide thoughts/counsel to you in advance of the briefing. This is one of the reasons why I raised the issue of lanes/responsibilities that I did when you asked her to handle WH detailee interaction.” The afternoon and night before the inauguration, a bevy of heavily redacted emails were exchanged by Mr. Strzok and other high-ranking counter intelligence officials.

“These documents suggest that President Trump was targeted by the [then-director James] Comey FBI as soon as he stepped foot in the Oval Office,” said Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton. By inauguration day, the FBI had reversed its decision to close a case on retired Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn, Mr. Trump’s national security adviser. Agents were examining his phone calls during the transition with Russian ambassador Sergey Kislyak. Three days later, Mr. Strzok would travel to the White House to interview Mr. Flynn, who would pled guilty in December 2017 to lying. The Trump Justice Department moved in May to drop the case, citing undisclosed FBI files that would have helped Mr. Flynn’s case.

Judicial Watch said the Strzok conversation was among 136 pages of emails–––some heavily redacted––– released by the FBI based on an original December 2017 Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) submission for all Strzok-Page messages. The release contains other Strzok missives. He disputed a story in January 2017 in the British Independent that said Christopher Steele, author of the influential and ultimately discredited dossier, suspected there was an FBI “cabal” which prioritized the Hillary Clinton email probe over the Trump-Russia matter. “Of course not accurate (the coverup/cabal nonsense),” Mr. Strzok wrote to agent Michael Kortan, assistant director for public affairs, and Ms. Page. “Is that question gaining traction anywhere else.” Mr. Strzok headed the probe into Mrs. Clinton’s email abuses, then switched to directing Crossfire Hurricane. Mr. Steele, a former British intelligence officer paid by Democrats, leveled over a dozen conspiracy claims against Mr. Trump and aides. None proved true, yet Mr. Strzok and other agents relied heavily on the document to guide their inquiry. Amid the Flynn probe, Mr. Strzok sent an email to Ms. Page joking about Mr. Kislyak’s heft. “Andy [deputy FBI Director McCabe] wasn’t kidding about Ambo’s size,” he said. That May, Mr. Trump fired Mr. Comey. Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein then appointed Robert Mueller as special counsel. In March 2019, he reported he did not find a Trump-Russia election conspiracy.
