These Yellowfin Tuna were caught out of San Diego, down towards Ensenada. They were right at 100 lbs each.

If there is a red clay rock around them it would be where a coal seam burned. We have similar geology to the north. The ancient coal fires fired the bentonite clay and the red tone is caused by oxidized iron within the clay. The rock is called scorio. Many of the fires continued to burn until Roosevelt’s CCW (?) put them out in the 30’s
Once again I learn something new, my family has property along the MT-ND border and there are lots of these scoria outcrops. Must've been ancient coal fires since the surface coal is gone and you gave to dig 20-30 feet to reach the coal.

On a different note, this is the view from Virgin Gotta to west and you see Beef Island and Tortola. Tortilla is where Jimmy Buffett wrote his classic Cheeseburger in Paradise.

Took these on the way to work today: they are in front of a small airport.

I've coincidentally played two gigs down at that marina for the sailing club. The bass player belonged to it and hooked us up. Played in a little pavillion down on the beach and had food galore. Took a dip before the gig then afterwards when I when I swam to the boat of the cutie I met during break.

This might end up in the Catastrophism thread as all oop-arts (Out Of Place Artifacts) should but thought I would share the pic here first. This items, like many from the sea seems to have just washed up on the beach. One has to wonder about the time it took and the long, long journeys this artifact made before becoming accessible to humans once again...
