This one, the most recently posted, is quite outgoing and almost completely unphased by my swift, loud movements within inches of it. Nor did it mind the ©Speak & See, point and shoot contraption stuck in it's face.

Fun stuff.

On a similar note, I have a grass carrying wasp building a nest above a window. Been trying to get a pic of it in flight while it is carrying a long length of grass but it's proven very difficult. Grass carrying wasps aren't aggressive and I don't mind it nesting there. Very fun to watch them flying with a long piece of grass.

this is a C17 Globemaster III. Same kind that Afghani's clung to trying to escape.

One of these was flying into Colorado Springs today. It flies so slow it looks like it's just hanging in the sky. It's BIG!

This is a canyon that we lost in the fire ! Note small waterfall in center.
I took this with a regular lens. This is not a "Fisheye" lens photo.

As "kid", before RC, I did "free flight" . I decided to not use a dethermalizer on this one & it went 20 miles & took all day to get to it !

Second photo is a double exposure, which happened on occasion with the old box cameras. Those are my smaller free flights with dethermalizer tails.
Wholly shit, this was 61 years ago !!!!

Lets see a few pics of it then, dont keep us in suspense.

Tuna fishing pics are also cool.

:2 thumbs up:
Got the tuna pics, but we can't get to the burned little valley.

This is to show how nice it can be out 35 miles.

There is a lot of pre-trip planning.
This how I plan a day of tuna chasing, notice I did NOT say catching !!!

final plan.png

This is based on water temp of 57 to 61 degrees.
A trick is to work into a temperature break as you see here

water temp.JPG

This is the proper way to gaff a tuna. This keeps you from getting blood in the meat.

A resin printer? Cool! Mind elaborating on it for us interested folks?

A resin printer is a type of 3d printer that uses a photopolymer resin and light to create extremely detailed 3d prints. It has an lcd screen at the bottom under a vat of the resin and "flashes" an image onto the build plate that hardens very thin layers of the resin to create the solid model.

The resin used for these handles is a translucent green so you can see the blade tang through the handle. You can see the layers and detail in the first pic. That is an m5 stainless screw head.

Simply amazing technology to have at home.
At first glance I thought it was translucent but then assumed it was just the design .

I met the parents of a young man who invented, patented and is selling a
nifty computer related accoutrements. They showed me his prototypes printed on a similar printer. When I asked the father, who was telling me the story, if he knew how much that printer cost he said, "I sure do, because I'm the one who paid for it! -$15,000."

How much was yours? How about the resins?

What else have you fabricobbled from it?

It is amazing how much the costs have come down in the last few years. I have a filament based fdm printer that can do large items up to about one cubic foot and the smaller resin printer that is just big enough to print a set (2) of knife scales on one build.

The fdm printer was about 400 bucks and a 1kg roll of filament costs between 15 and 40. The resin printer was around 200 bucks and a 1liter bottle of resin costs between 25 and 50 bucks.

I have made utilitarian parts for my knives, computer hardware mounts, tool holders, rifle components, etc. Toys for my daughter like articulated butterflies, musical instruments like an Ocarina and lots of little stuff. I have made numerous vases for my wife as well as crystal holders and bowls. And I am in the process of making a full set of Mandalorian armor for myself.

Holy smokes! I imagine that thing's as addictive as crack. I'm shocked at the costs.

You should really start a thread least not for the betterment of our gi-m-embers.

Did you design the butterfly or ?

I so wanted to be Bobo Fet when I was a kid. Freakin' cool eh'? This guy(points in amazement towards Sampson).

Yea, I thought it might be a fun thing to have for making things as needed but now they run pretty much 24/7 cranking out stuff.

The butterfly was an STL file from a site called Thingiverse. They have a million different free files made by users that anyone can download, modify, and print. If you have an hour (or 20) check the site out and start searching for anything you can imagine.

I am now going down the rabbit hole of CAD design so I can make all my own designs. So far I am designing simple and functional parts, tool mounts, interlocking dovetails etc.

I like the Star Wars cannon and have been disappointed in almost all if the new stuff. I don't have a TV but I watched the Mandalorian series on my phone and really liked it.

As much as I liked the show, I don't care much about making the Mando suit for myself, but, I have s 5 year old daughter that looks at me like I am the most important man in the world. Her daddy is going to be Din Djarin for Halloween and have the best adult Halloween costume of all the parents.
