I fell into an astonishing situation when I snapped this pic this afternoon looking at a new job...only played with a few adjustments to achieve these results..

I have been slacking. Finally pulled these pics off my camera from a few weeks ago when a flock of bluebirds were passing through.

GIF I just made from my pics from yesterday. These are completely untouched with no adjustments, straight from the camera.

Check out this sweet ride, a rental from SEATAC when we were there a few weeks ago. Bald tire, no valve stem cover or hubcap...sweet ride indeed. Was a recent model toyota, the poor thing only had 70K miles on it and was already beaten to shit. When I mentioned the problems both pre- and post-rental, the jokers just said "yeah, we'll take care of that." Whatever.

Those were taken a few hours before the tornadoes came through last night. Was on the job in Bella Vista, right in the NW corner of Arkansas on the Missouri border.

This a couple of aerial shots in the same county I grew up in, in Wstern KY. This is in a little place called Mortons Gap, just East of a small place named Earlington.

Cool — this is not one photo stacked on top of another.
This is the kind of captain that collides with the same kind of naval captain !!!
I have spent a lot of time on the high seas, in a tiny fucking boat & I cannot fathom such incompetence !

Considering the recent string of grand ineptitude I have been tasked with rectifying I very well may adopt this as my new pet phrase. Perfectly fitting

It weighed in, a day after being caught, so it lost a little weight from being bled, gutted & dehydration (it was on ice, but they still dehydrate a bit), at 109 lbs. My biggest ever was this, 135 lbs. Same story on weight loss.

This summmmm bitch.
It took over an hour to get it to the boat & ALL 3 of us to muscle it aboard. My arms were shaking like Jello & I KISSED it !!! :blond:

135 LB BIG EYE 1983.jpg

Each were caught on a different, 3 day trip out of Point Loma, San Diego , south & 85 miles off Ensenada, Mex. It is the "lower 500" on the nautical charts, a favorite place for bigger boats.
We slept 2 nights at sea, with 1 guy up on the bridge watching for them big fuckers that could hitcha & not even know it.
He would watch for 2 hours & then trade places with the next up, we each would get 4 hrs sleep between watches.
This was this boat, my first Skipjack 25 & the very first one ever made. I wore out 1 gas & 2 diesel engines in that baby.
These trips required stopping in Ensenada to refuel, in order to get back to Point Loma. Now it is very complicated, with new, at that time, P.O.E. laws.

This shot is about 65 miles S. of Loreto, B.C., "Puerto Gato" named for the "cat feet" shapes on the beach.
I wish that I had never sold it.

My Peruvian wife, at the time, hated it & named it "Mi Amante". That is Spanish for a married man's "other woman" !!! :belly laugh::belly laugh::belly laugh:

MY 25 SKIP AT PUERTO GATO.jpg

The red lines are the trip down. Green is trip home via Ensenada.

More (poorer quality)pics leading downstairs to the jam room. Place is HUGE and FOR SALE if you know anyone looking. Somewhere around $1.2M. I'd even pay more if I had it. Most reading this have probably been the view. That's only about half the house pictured. I think it's considered a 5 bedroom. The guy who built it in the 60's went all out on materials and design quality, most of it is original. Lots of steel and concrete, safe rooms, etc. That basement bar is a recent renovation.

I should be, as I am afraid of the water, I get very seasick AND I don't swim. My boat is the one you want to be on, because it is as fit as is possible.

Man you must get super high from the adventure to excitedly overcome such potent impediments.

Man you must get super high from the adventure to excitedly overcome such potent impediments.
Every trip is it's own adventure/excitement AND sometimes it is a bit more excitement than we bargained for.
I have been 47 miles out of Ensenada & heading into seas that came 2 feet over my bow. I was wishing that I was home in bed.
If you panic, you lose/die. You must keep a cool head.
Actually you must be a damned good weatherman too.
On this trip we were 60 miles out of Ensenada & I told the 2 guys with me "hey the weather is turning, so we are heading in". They got pissy (you don't do that to me, on my boat) and demanded that we vote on it. I told them, go ahead & vote & get off the fucking boat, 'cause I am going in. Needless to say they shut the fuck up. When the ocean turned bad, they asked how I knew it would happen & I told them that you must be able to read the weather, ahead of it.
I have been 45 miles out, here in Orygun & told the guys, "hey the fog is coming soon". Here they are usually smart enough to know better.
A couple of times the fog caught us about 1/2 way back. I have radar, so it's no big deal.
I have navigated the Orygun, Calif. & Baja Calif. Coast lines, including the inside coast of Baja. They are all very different & must be learned AND understood to safely enjoy them.
An old but true saying " Ther are old sailors & there are bold sailors, but there are few old, bold sailors".
BTW, I just sold "BAR HOPPER" at age 79, I won !!!! BUT I got 3rd seat on the boat. The name is two meanings, one is obvious, the other is the usually rough 1/4 mile where the bay meets the ocean. Crossing the bar can be a slam dunk or life threatening.

A good example of how the imminent threat of death at every moment can cause the mind/body to develop and or strengthen atrophied sensory perceptions.

OK, Misty, YOU got me to get off my ass and put this vid on YouTube. I am running about 25 knots in the ocean & my buddy boat took this vid.
It just shows how it rides in the ocean.

Pretty stoked to have one of my pictures win in the Spyderco forum calendar contest. It is the February image. It is a Spyderco Mule blank in Spy27 steel that I put an Ironwood handle on. All hand shaped and finished with rasps, files, sandpaper, and elbow grease. Topped with multiple coats of boiled linseed oil.

Couple neat recycled phone booths in here
