Trump ‘nominated for Nobel Peace Prize by Japanese PM’

PREVIOUS
15/02/2019 - 20:22:00Back to Donald Trump World Home

Donald Trump has said Japan’s Prime Minister nominated him for the Nobel Peace Prize for his work to open up a dialogue with North Korea.

At a White House event to discuss the proposed border wall, Mr Trump spoke about his upcoming summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un in Vietnam.

The president said early exchanges with Mr Kim were filled with “fire and fury” but since their first meeting last year, the two have established a good relationship.

Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe is said to have nominated Donald Trump (Dan Kitwood/PA)
Mr Trump said Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe “gave me the most beautiful copy of a letter that he sent to the people who give out a thing called the Nobel Prize.

“He said, ‘I have nominated you, respectfully, on behalf of Japan. I am asking them to give you the Nobel Peace Prize.'”

South Korean President Moon Jae-in, who has also credited Mr Trump with starting negotiations with North Korea, has endorsed him for the prize as well.

In 2009, President Barack Obama received the Nobel Peace Prize for laying out the US commitment to “seek the peace and security of a world without nuclear weapons”.

“I’ll probably never get it, but that’s OK,” Mr Trump said. “They gave it to Obama. He didn’t even know what he got it for.”

to be fair to the kenyan,

he inherited a real pos,

didn't make it better as the titanic was still moving down at that time

bush was the one who started throwing fiat around like a sailor in a port town, trying like hell to stem the bleeding

then tramp was handed a economy that was flat to stagnant but not in a nose dive,

New Section of Wall Completed Whopping 47 Days Ahead of Schedule & Trump Has the Video

President Donald Trump has been under heavy fire from all sides over the southern border wall. He has been criticized for not doing enough, for signing a bad bill and for declaring a national emergency to pay for the barrier.

But in typical Trump fashion, the businessman with building experience has been working hard to keep his campaign promise about building the wall along the U.S.-Mexico border.

So while the hits have been coming, construction has been taking place along the border.

Advertisement - story continues below

As you might expect when the president is more of a builder than a bureaucrat, the work on one section in New Mexico was completed early.

Trump shared video of the astonishing feat Wednesday on Twitter:

While this construction being finished 47 days ahead of schedule should leave some eating crow, not everyone eased up on the attacks against the president and the wall.

A common theme has been the semantics of the thing.

Do you care if the border wall is made with steel slats?

Completing this poll entitles you to Conservative Tribune news updates free of charge. You may opt out at anytime. You also agree to our Privacy Policy and Terms of Use.
In his tweet, Trump called what was built a “wall.” To some, it is a “fence” or “steel slats.” Others have taken to calling the border security construction a “barrier” instead of a “wall” now.

Whatever name it is given, the purpose remains the same.

Trump addressed the question of building

Trump wins 2 Razzies while Oscar nominee Melissa McCarthy gets worst actress

President Trump picked up two Razzies for appearing as himself in two documentaries while Oscar nominee Melissa McCarthy won worst actress.

The awards, which were given out by the Golden Raspberry Award Foundation just days before the Academy Awards on Sunday, are given to the worst films and performances of the year.
Trump took home two Razzies for worst actor and worst screen combo for his roles in the Michael Moore-directed documentary “Fahrenheit 11/9” and the Dinesh D’Souza documentary “Death of a Nation.”

McCarthy, 48, who is up for a Best Actress Oscar for her role in “Can You Ever Forgive Me?” won the worst actress for her roles in the comedy flicks “The Happytime Murders” and “Life of the Party.” She also won the redeemer award for “Can You Ever Forgive Me?”

Meanwhile, “Holmes & Watson” which was panned by critics, took home multiple Razzies including worst picture, worst director [Etan Cohen], worst supporting actor [John C. Reilly] and worst prequel. Counselor to the president Kellyanne Conway won worst supporting actress for playing herself in “Fahrenheit 11/9.”

About 1,000 Razzie members in 24 countries vote for the worst movies and performances of the year, The Guardian reported.

Trump said on Monday at Florida International University in Miami. Border Apprehensions Jump 84 Percent, 606,000 Expected This Year
-Washington Examiner
“January saw a surprising surge of 22,000 more apprehensions of illegal immigrants at southwest border crossings over January 2018, prompting a key predictor to suggest that border officers will make over 600,000 apprehensions this year,” Paul Bedard reports. “The year-over-year increase was 84 percent, from 25,975 in January 2018 to 47,893 last January, according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection.”

An Illegal Immigrant Killed My Daughter. Trump's Right—We Must Complete the Border Wall.
-USA Today
Retired educator Dan Ferguson writes that his beloved daughter Mandy, a 28-year-old sixth-grade teacher, was killed last year by a criminal who should never have been in the United States. “In his declaration of a national emergency on our southern border, President Trump recognized the Americans who experienced the consequences of that emergency firsthand: angel moms and dads. I never expected I would be one of them.”

Trump Officially Directs Pentagon to Create Space Force Legislation for Congress
-CNBC
“President Donald Trump signed a directive on Tuesday that ordered the Department of Defense create a Space Force as a sixth military branch,” Michael Sheetz and Amanda Macias report. “The directive orders the Pentagon draft legislation for Congress that would create the Space Force as a part of the U.S. Air Force.” This move sets in motion the creation of America’s first new military branch in more than 70 years.

Opinion: Trump Stays Tough on Socialism
-The Detroit News
“President Trump’s speech Monday afternoon in Miami wasn’t just directed at Nicolas Maduro and the socialists of Venezuela — it was also a stark reminder to left-leaning Americans that socialism's days are ‘numbered,’” Lt. Col. Tony Shaffer writes. “As Democrats rally around radical proposals such as ‘Medicare-for-all,’ free college tuition, enormous minimum wage increases, and even guaranteed basic income, it was President Trump’s responsibility to remind us that socialism’s sweeping promises are always empty.”

Lower Tax Refunds Show How the Republican Tax Cut is Keeping Money in Your Hands All Year
-USA Today
Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA) and Rep. Kevin Brady (R-TX) explain that tax refunds are lower today because taxes are lower—keeping more money in Americans’ hands all year long. First, Democrats were wrong that tax cuts would hurt our economy. Now, they are “peddling the scary elixir that ‘lower tax refunds mean higher taxes.’ Wrong again . . . This claim about refunds, as the Washington Post’s fact checker observed, is ‘nonsensical and misleading.’”

CONFIRMED: POTUS 45's LONGEST SPEECH EVER!

The website http://Factba.se, which tracks all of Trump’s words, reports that Trump beat his previous record long for a speech by 39 minutes 11 seconds.

Hard confirm. Removing the cabinet meeting at 1:36:49, longest speech prior to this was 01:23:24 on 9/22/17 (Luther Strange rally in Huntsville), followed by 2019 SOTU at 1:22:45. Nothing else comes close. So, 00:39:11 longer than any other speech ever.

Now we start seeing the results of closing the NAFTA loophole that destroyed OUR economy. And this may also be why princess sparkle sox is in deep shit.

Canadian Economy Halts – GDP Growth Drops to 0.1 Percent, and No-One Is Talking About Why…
Posted on March 2, 2019by sundance

The Canadian government shocked the professional financial and economic media with their latest fourth quarter GDP release showing the economy has essentially come to a grinding halt at 0.1% growth. [Compare to U.S. GDP growth of 3%]
The Canadian Q4 GDP growth isn’t one percent, it’s one-tenth of one percent: 0.1%, essentially halted; but everyone discussing this is missing something very important.

First, The Financial Post headline:

[FP] Canada’s economy practically came to a halt in the final three months of 2018, in a much deeper-than-expected slowdown that brings the underlying strength of the expansion into doubt.
The country’s economy grew by just 0.1 per cent in the fourth quarter, for an annualized pace of 0.4 per cent, Statistics Canada said Friday from Ottawa. That’s the worst quarterly performance in two and a half years, down from annualized 2 per cent in the third quarter and well below economist expectations for a 1 per cent annualized increase.

While a slowdown was widely expected in the final months of the year due to falling oil prices, it’s a much bleaker picture than anyone anticipated with weakness extending well beyond the energy sector. Consumption spending grew at the slowest pace in almost four years, housing fell by the most in a decade, business investment dropped sharply for a second straight quarter, and domestic demand posted its largest decline since 2015. (read more)
The financial punditry go on to give multiple reasons for the drop and all of them are factually accurate. However, there’s a key aspect that I cannot find discussed in any analysis of the data.
A very specific key aspect.

First, let me say CTH does not want to see the Canadian economy falter; not even a little bit. By disposition CTH wants to see economic abundance for everyone, especially our close friends and allies. But stand back, look at the bigger, BIG, picture, the media always avoid discussing…. you’ve got to ask yourself how can Canada be slowing down at the exact same time the USA economy is skyrocketing?…. There’s a connection.
Again, all of the currently expressed financial reasons for the slowdown are accurate; I am not disputing them. However, it’s what they are not discussing that really matters.

In the third paragraph of the FP article I highlighted a partial sentence: “business investment dropped sharply for a second straight quarter.” That means sharp drops in business investment for Canada in the time-frame July 2018 through December 2018.
Now pause, and reference the U.S. fourth quarter: “Consumer spending continued to grow solidly and, most encouragingly, business investment growth recovered sharply after a dip in the third quarter. Despite big external headwinds and financial market volatility in the fourth quarter, U.S. firms are not retrenching sharply on capex.”

Astute economic followers will note what the background is.

♦In July, August, September (Q3) of 2018 the new NAFTA negotiation was in the final stages. The U.S. and Mexico had already come to the terms; Canada was the outlier having to re-join an agreement in September where they previously abandoned negotiations.
♦On October 1st, 2018, the first day of Q4, the USMCA was unveiled. Now the U.S., Mexico and Canada were all committed. Throughout the fourth quarter, all business interests had an opportunity to review the much anticipated USMCA outcome and details.
Multinational corporations, domestic corporations, U.S. and Canadian businesses were all looking for the same very specific detail: What happened with the NAFTA loophole?
Within the new USMCA the critically important NAFTA loophole was closed.
Over the past three decades both Canada and Mexico structured key parts of their independent trade agreements to take advantage of their unique access to the U.S. market. Under the existing NAFTA, Mexico and Canada generate billions in economic activity through exploiting the NAFTA loophole.
China, Asia (writ large), and the EU enter into trade agreements with Mexico and Canada as back-doors into the U.S. market. So long as corporations can avoid U.S. tariffs (and rules of origin that pertain to those tariffs), by going through Canada and Mexico they would continue to exploit this approach.

By shipping parts to Mexico and/or Canada; and by deploying satellite assembly facilities in Canada and/or Mexico; China, Asia and to a lesser extent EU corporations exploited a NAFTA loophole for rules of origin on finished goods.
Through a process of building, assembling or partially manufacturing their products in Mexico/Canada those foreign corporations could skirt U.S. trade tariffs and direct U.S. trade agreements. The finished foreign products entered the U.S. under NAFTA rules.

Why deal with the U.S. when you can just deal with Mexico, and use NAFTA rules to ship your product directly into the U.S. market?

This exploitative approach, a backdoor to the U.S. market, was the primary reason for massive foreign investment in Canada and Mexico; it was also the primary reason why candidate Donald Trump, now President Donald Trump, wanted to shut down that loophole and renegotiate NAFTA.
At the conclusion of Round #6, just before giving up on Chrystia Freeland for good, this was the direct issue at the heart of a very frustrated U.S.T.R. Lighthizer’s strongly worded response to Canada:
[…] In another proposal, Canada reserved the right to treat the United States and Mexico even worse than other countries if they enter into future agreements. Those other countries may, in fact, even include China, if there is an agreement between China and [Canada]. This proposal, I think if the United States had made it, would be dubbed a “poison pill.” We did not make it, though. Obviously, this is unacceptable to us, and my guess is it is to the Mexican side also. (read full remarks)

This loophole was the primary reason U.S. manufacturers relocated operations to Mexico. Corporations within the U.S. Auto-Sector could enhance profits by building in Mexico or Canada using cheap parts imported from Asia/China. The labor factor was not as big a part of the overall cost consideration as cheaper machined parts and imported raw materials.
If the U.S. applied the same tariffs to Canada and Mexico we apply to all trade nations, then the benefit of using Canada and Mexico -by those trade nations- is lost.

Corporations will no longer have any advantage, and many are likely to just deal directly with the U.S. This was the reason Trump, Lighthizer and Ross to retained Steel and Aluminum tariffs on Canada and Mexico until they agreed to the new USMCA rules.
When Trump took away the flawed NAFTA market access; and when Trump removed the ability of Mexico and Canada to broker themselves for economic benefit; there was no longer a financial benefit behind corporations investing in Canada. Under a binding trade pact between the USMCA partners, the NAFTA flaw is closed.

As a direct outcome billions of investment dollars are now being removed from any future consideration into Canada.

That’s the overarching reason for the Canadian GDP to halt.

Here’s the proverbial $64,000 question: Can Canada re-engineer their economy and actually begin to “make” products again, not just simply “assemble” foreign products from other nations?
  • Can Canada reverse three-decades of specifically structured economic policy decisions that were centered around this “assembly” (brokered) economy?
  • Can the environmentalists be put back into a box while heavy manufacturing and raw material development are reconstituted?
  • Can the environmentalists allow natural resource development? Oil development, mining operations, lowered overall energy costs, etc?
  • Can Canada somehow lower national energy costs so that Heavy manufacturing might consider restarting? (NOTE: heavy manufacturing requires massive energy use.)
  • Can Canada find any industrial development investors who would be willing to take a chance on all the above?
See the problem?

The Canadian economy is not likely going to get better without a radical shift in Canadian political perspectives and outlook(s).
Then again, perhaps that’s really why Justin and Chrystia were so damned set on protecting their “cultural industries” (ie. media) from competition.

Think about it.

VIDEO: HUNDREDS Of ISIS Terrorists Surrender To Trump-USA Backed Forces in Syria
by Nan and Byron McKeeby March 3, 2019

The Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant took over large swaths of Iraq and Syria in 2013 and 2014.
The group claimed the territory as their new Islamic “caliphate.”

This was made possible after Barack Obama withdrew US troops prematurely from Iraq and allowed radical Islamists to fill the void.

Donald Trump promised to “bomb the hell out of ISIS” as president and that is exactly what he has done.

ISIS is defeated. Their caliphate destroyed.

Hundreds of ISIS terrorists surrendered to Trump/USA backed forces in Syria this weekend.

The Islamic stronghold in Syria has been eliminated.

WATCH: Hundreds of ISIS fighters surrendering in Syria. CNN won’t show this

Senator: Pentagon may tap leftover military pay, pension accounts for border wall

WASHINGTON — A top Senate Democrat says the Pentagon is planning to tap $1 billion in leftover funds from military pay and pensions accounts to help President Donald Trump pay for his long-sought border wall.

Sen. Dick Durbin told The Associated Press on Thursday: "It's coming out of military pay and pensions. $1 billion. That's the plan."

Durbin says the funds are available because Army recruitment is down and a voluntary early military retirement program is being underutilized.

The development comes as Pentagon officials are seeking to minimize the amount of wall money that would come from military construction projects that are so cherished by lawmakers.

The Illinois Democrat says, “Imagine the Democrats making that proposal — that for whatever our project is, we’re going to cut military pay and pensions.”

Durbin, the top Democrat on the Appropriations panel for the Pentagon, was among a bipartisan group of lawmakers who met with Acting Defense Secretary Patrick Shanahan on Thursday morning.

The Pentagon is planning to transfer money from various accounts into a fund dedicated to drug interdiction, with the money then slated to be redirected for border barriers and other purposes.

More attention has been paid to Trump's declaration of a national emergency to tap up to $3.6 billion from military construction projects to pay for the wall. The Democratic-controlled House voted last month to reject Trump's move, and the GOP-held Senate is likely to follow suit next week despite a White House lobbying push.

Senate Republicans met again Wednesday to sort through their options in hopes of making next week's voting more politically palatable. They are struggling to come up with an alternative to simply voting up or down on the House measure as required under a never-used Senate procedure to reject a presidential emergency declaration. Lawmakers in both parties believe Trump is inappropriately infringing on Congress' power of the purse.

Senators are increasingly uneasy ahead of voting next week because they don't know exactly where the money to build the wall will come from and if it will postpone military projects in their home states.

Antifa-Controlled Portland Police Bureau Faces Mass ‘Exodus’ As 50+ Officers Quit Over Insane and Dangerous Far Left Policies
March 15, 2019, 9:02 am by Brock Simmons 213 Comments
As Portland trends further and further from Democrat to Marxist, the rank-and-file officers of the Portland Police Bureau have been put in the unenviable position of being ordered by the mayor to cater to the far left protesters and rioters like Antifa.

At the same time the officers also face a more and more irate public, angry at the police bureau’s propensity for ceding the city to the protesters on a regular basis.

Russia is a predominantly Christian country that turned it's back on communism over 20 years ago, and they hate terrorists. Young Russians love all the things we love and my impression is we have much more in common than we disagree on. The US and Russia ought to be friends and major trade partners.

Of course the neocons and globalists do not want anything like that to happen. I pray the good guys win!

Court rejects challenge to Trump's steel tariffs

The Court of International Trade, the body that hears constitutional challenges to federal trade policy, rejected an effort to overturn President Trump's 25 percent tariffs on steel imports on Monday. The American Institute for International Steel, a trade association, had sued the administration, arguing that the president exceeded his authority when he claimed last year that the tariff was justified under Section 232 of the Trade Expansion Act, which involves protecting "national security." The court said Monday that it lacked the authority to second-guess the president's decision.

"dentifying the line between regulation of trade in furtherance of national security and an impermissible encroachment into the role of Congress could be elusive in some cases because judicial review would allow neither an inquiry into the president’s motives nor a review of his fact-finding," a three-judge panel said. A spokesman for the institute could not be reached for comment, but its website characterizes the lawsuit as "an ongoing legal battle that may well end up before the Supreme Court." A Commerce Department spokesman declined to comment.

Trump is still my guy. God is backing him. Look at ALL the democrat attacks that have failed. Mueller wasted 31 million on his witch hunt. Democrats have done NOTHING to help the American people . Busy letting Illegals into the country. Stopping the Wall. Letting criminal illegals roam free to kill our citizens. Killing full term babies.

Pentagon Notifies Congress It Authorized the Transfer of $1 Billion to Begin New Border Wall Construction
by Cristina Laila March 25, 2019 55 Comments

The Pentagon notified Congress Monday night it authorized the transfer of $1 billion to begin new border wall construction.
CNN obtained a Pentagon budget notification that was sent to Capitol Hill Monday night that showed up to $1 billion will go toward building 57 miles of border wall.

The Department of Defense authorized the Army Corp of Engineers to begin planning and construction for the project Monday night. The department will direct the funds toward 18-foot-high fencing along the Yuma and El Paso sections of the border, according to a letter acting Secretary of Defense Patrick Shanahan sent to Secretary of Homeland Security Kirstjen Nielsen.
President Trump declared a national emergency in February to secure funding for a border wall.

Under the national emergency, Trump is able to funnel money budgeted for the Pentagon to fund the border wall.

Monday’s announcement is just the beginning. Trump is planning on redirecting another $1.5 billion from the fund in the near future.

Trump campaign starts selling 'Pencil-neck Adam Schiff' t-shirts

President Trump's 2020 presidential campaign is now selling "Pencil-Neck Adam Schiff" t-shirts, after Trump coined the new nickname at a rally this week.

The shirt, which is on sale for $28, shows Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) with a literal pencil for a neck as well as a clown nose.

"Little Pencil-Neck Adam Schiff. He spent two years knowingly and unlawfully lying and leaking. He should be forced to resign from Congress! Everyone should buy a Pencil-Neck Adam Schiff shirt today!" the item's online description reads.

Mexico bows to Pres. Trump on 'containment' of illegal aliens

Mexico bowed to President Trump's border security demands by agreeing to set up a Central American illegal alien "containment" belt 2,200 miles south of San Diego.

Mexico's socialist president, Andrés Manuel López-Obrador, known as "AMLO," trumpeted after his huge July victory that he sympathized with migrants suffering from "hunger and poverty." He promised to slash funds dedicated to border control and claimed that he would stand up to any of President Trump's bullying tactics.

AMLO must have been confident that President Trump's hands were tied by the "Russiagate" investigation. He probably assumed that Democrats would either squeeze Trump out of office or continue to emasculate his ability to take major retaliatory actions.

But after Trump was exonerated by the special counsel, AMLO quickly dispatched his interior secretary, Olga Sánchez-Cordero, to meet with U.S. secretary of homeland security Kirstjen Nielsen in Miami on March 27.

Secretary Sánchez offered a Mexican Federal Police and military "containment" belt across the Isthmus of Tehuantepec, the narrowest part of the country and very close to the southern border with Guatemala. When asked about the breakthrough with Mexico, Secretary Nielsen said: "It's going to be a big change."

President Trump hit Twitter on March 28 with new threats of U.S.-Mexico border closure:

"Mexico is doing NOTHING to help stop the flow of illegal immigrants to our Country." He added, "They are all talk and no action. Likewise, Honduras, Guatemala and El Salvador have taken our money for years, and do Nothing."

The usually bombastic President López-Obrador sought to calmly reassure the Trump administration that Mexico is now committed to a "very respectful relationship" with the United States to stop immigrant-smuggling. He added: "We are going to do everything we can to help. We don't in any way want a confrontation with the U.S. government."
