Underwater Glock suppressor goes viral, creators finally reveal how it works

Last week a video of scuba divers hunting invasive lionfish with a Glock 17 went viral. After being flooded with questions, the creators responded with another video explaining how their underwater suppressor worked and why they needed it. Please forgive the rifle cartridge in the animatic, we don’t know why they didn’t just use a bullet either. The image isn’t to scale anyways, it seems like it’s just there to help illustrate the concept.

Lion fish are an invasive species which, have invaded the Gulf of Mexico. They have poisonous barbs so spearfishing them would present a hazard during spear removal. During one of my dives the bastards were everywhere.

I like the vacuum idea but a hose is cumbersome and, in that environment labor intensive. A diver would have to come up more often for air under those circumstances, leaving more room to develop the bends. Not arguing, I'm just seeing the reasons behind developing the Glock solution.
