Sampling is key to your ability to find gold faster!

Have you heard of the phrase; “Sampling for gold?”

Gold sampling is a vital skill to have as a gold prospector, you may or may not know what sampling is.

Many people don’t, and that’s ok.

Simply put, gold sampling is when you pick a location to dig a hole down to bedrock and measure the concentration of gold found from the debris removed from that hole.

It’s very important to note when gathering the sample, that the sample be measured accurately to give you an idea of the concentration of gold in the area. It’s not enough just know that there is gold, you want to know how much gold too.

You want to start in areas where bedrock is not very deep. Not only is it easier, it is also safer. When a sample hole gets too deep, it can cave in on you. It is also not a good idea to dig under an embankment, because it can collapse.

If you liked this video topic of gold sampling, there’s more information on sampling in the “Gold in a Storm” series too.

Good prospecting!
