Trying to remember but my pea brain isn't sure:

G-Khan

Scorpio
Torus
skyvike
Au-Myn
Founding Fathers

Is that right? I seem to remember it being seven but I'm not sure.

Help!

Never heard of Torus. What happened to him? (I joined up in April of 2006, so he's been gone a while.)

Torus is a genuine no-kidding rocket scientist who thinks really, REALLY big thoughts.

He learned what he wanted about precious metals and then moved along. He doesn't really spend much time online anyway.

Real interesting guy though! We stay in touch and have lunch together regularly.

Wasn't this one of the questions to that GIM quiz we have several years back?

That looks about right.

I came along just after (2 or 3 months?) from Veronski's site. Got the ax! I had no knowledge about investing. I was following my gut - something wasn't right. Not sure how I found it, but I did.

Somehow, I was made a mod for complaining about all the spam posts not getting deleted fast enough after hours....

It's been a blast so far!

What about Gpond?

DrillAndFill?

TnAndy?

I suppose we could always contact the NSA...?

Pond wasn't a founder. He was a great guy though, sorry we lost him.

I remember "Uncle" was a "GIM Elder".

sky,

you have it all right IMO except maybe one mentioned earlier, Silver Streak

gpond, Tn, RichG, AuAgGal, Goldhedge and Uncle all came on board shortly afterward,

gpond and Uncle were instrumental in helping Khan on the tech side of things,

the site was started and up for about a year, year and 1/2, then crashed major. Everyone lost all posts, all everything. Had to restart the whole site from scratch, and that became the now famous GIM.

The original was named the same, and had very few members. Slowly started expanding. Khan, Founding Fathers and Barnacle Bob were there posting like mad men at the time to build a dbase of information. What they put up at that time was ground breaking for how to really use the internet and bring information together in one location.

We always stated what a incredible library mind BB had to go find stuff and bring it there for everyones use.

They were posts of deep thoughts and vast research. Then you were left be to decide for yourselves what was up.

To all of us it was the Wild Wild West of the early gold and silver days, along with the infancy of the internet. The ground that was covered in a relative short period was vast while also being eye opening.

What was, no longer became reality, as each of us had gone down the rabbit hole, never to return.

----------

Skyvike was the one who virtually single handedly put together the meetups we had back in the day,

Lifelong memories of the persons that showed at the meets, and to a person, they were all incredible,

Included in those were Khan, Sky, AgAuGal, RichG, TnAndy, gpond, Jerry, Nailbender,Torus, fastcar, and if there were more, please forgive me as it has been years now,

Every one of those were as real as it gets, no shape shifters. What you see is ......well, the best of the best as a group.

Many more wanted to make the journey, but with the meets being up in the North Country, many could not.

Other meets took place around the US I believe.

Thanks for the explaination Scorp.

All you guys must have been having a great time riding the internet, exchanging your thoughts and wisdom.

There is a lot of sh!ts and giggles here but I know the heart of this forum real and serious. I am humbled to even be welcomed here.

I have been around for a few years and out of the blue comes this guy named Barnacle Bob. Brilliant man and very deep in his postings. I wondered why such a great mind would even bother with this place. Wow. Now I realize that I am lucky enough to be offered a glimpse inside of his head. What you two go on about is amazing, to me any way.

You guys are great. I would like to thank you for sharing with us your knowledge and insights. It is challenging for me to be shifting gears this late in my life, but coming here gives me direction.

What about Silver Streak ?
Was he in at the get go ?
There were eight originals.... Silver Streak is one of the eight. FWIW

We all met over @ Gold-Eagle.com forum... THEN Vronsky began editing and removing posts he and/or his sponsors did not like or agree with.... The EIGHT then organized GIM as a "free speech" learning forum mainly for use by ourselves... the original intent never was organized or designed to sustain the growth that the forum has experienced over the years.

Its really quite an amazing story in itself.... 8 seekers from all parts and walks of life joining together to create this forum out of thin air.... back then the only "rule" was "thou shalt not create personal attacks against any GIM member." There were great intellectual debates that on occasion would break out in flame wars due to differing opinions & knowledge levels.... it was an amazing & inspirational period that I shall always look back upon with much awe due to the talented posters of that period.... I am inspired today, as the site is again building momentum that will recreate the same conditions for learning & higher knowledge....

He ain't lost.....he is simply deep undercover.
Gpond is not that deep undercover. He signed a post "gpond" under his new handle. Doesn't post much here anymore unfortunately.

FWIW, a founder here,
The great Silver Streak,
Lost his wife this last week.
Prayers and condolences friend.
You are much in my thoughts.
Without the Streak, I would have never garnered as much as I have
knowledge wise.
He was a great poster here.
Regards Sir Streak,
Maybe one day you will stop back by.

That is so awesome, I was such a huge fan of Bob Chapman for years with his never ending internet radio interviews.

Irishgold was one of my early favorites. Gung-ho prepper who bought monster boxes like they were cases of canned goods.
He WAS Gung Ho! I'll never forget his advice on what one needed to do WTSHTF. He said dogs weren't worth keeping around, cause they were another mouth to feed, and they might make noise and give away your hiding spot when the zombies came. His solution, you needed to kill your dog, and maybe even eat it. Don't let anything go to waste!

In that case, then it is time for me to be dead, too. I'm coming up on 70 and I've always said, a home without a dog is an empty home. Don't ever want to be without mine.

Edit: Back to the original post. I've been around nearly forever. And the original founders of GIM beat me here by a country mile :)

We should be thankful for these engineering men whom
made this site possible!

Their time and labor - worth even more than precious metals.

G-Pond, was he not the tech genius for GIMco.:questionmark:
