strong or weak dollar is a function of comparing it to foreign currencies

"The US Dollar Index is used to measure the value of the dollar against a basket of six world currencies - Euro, Swiss Franc, Japanese Yen, Canadian dollar, British pound, and Swedish Krona."

why does foreign currency weakness drive down the price of pm?

In order for the price of gold to increase people have to WANT to trade their currency for gold. Simple supply and demand. Maybe America will wake up? I mean... a $1.2T "infrastructure" bill... a $3.5T budget (that is $3,500,000,000,0000, or 3.5million stacks of $1M).

USD will remain in demand as long as the world recognizes it as the most stable fiat currency. Maybe the world will wake up?

How are you pricing your gold? If you have to ask what the price of Gold is and get an answer in US Dollars then you have the answer. You are setting the price of Gold via the price of something else, ie a Dollar.

The DXY dollar index just measures how badly the US fiat FRN shit stinks compared to the other pieces of shit.

Gold always smells pretty good.

I couldn't agree more. When the music stops and the FRN has collapsed or been replaced by digital 'currency' backed by NOTHING, what do you want to be holding....gold or dollars?

You are looking in the wrong place, aka Misdirection.
The monkey hammering on both gold and silver are due to the BANKSTERS attempts to rid as much paper gold derivative contracts as possible w/o scaring the Sheeple into a mass stampede on the banks for what they think is their precious fiat they house.
That Early morning dip Monday as soon as the Asian markets opened could not be substantiated for any length of time. Yeah, there was still a hit going on when we woke up but not near as deep as it was in the opening of the Asian Markets.
The usd is dead (Aug.23rd) Long Live the SDR of the BIS / IMF. (IMHO)
IMO Any chance to buy gold or silver right now is an opportunity lost.

Look at it the other way around.

There is no "price of gold." Gold is the yardstick, not the object being measured.

There is a price of the US FRN "dollar,' which is currently about 1/1740th of an ounce of gold.

You forgot the premium over the Paper Spot Price. You are a Lucky Duck if you can buy physical at paper spot price.
