WOKE AND BROKE: Gillette Cuts Price of Razors by 20% – Sees Sales Slump After It’s Sexist and Lecturing #MeToo Razor Ad

by Jim Hoft
April 26, 2019

Proctor and Gamble and Gillette decided to run razor ads trashing men and “toxic” masculinity in their new ad campaign.

The company decided the best way to promote their product was to attack their customer base.

The new ad also highlights sexist and bullying white males in the United States.

Of the 43 abusive males in the ad – 42 are white. 7 of the hero men out of 8 are black.

The ad is not doing so well with many users promising to avoid the product.

The ad had 642,000 down votes after its first two days on YouTube.

But it gets worse…
When you open the US Gillette website you get a pop-up lecturing ad on abusive male culture.

BUT — When you open the Gillette website for ANY OTHER MARKET — including Saudi Arabia where men are taught to “disipline” their women, you will not see the anti-male ad!

It’s ONLY US men they have a problem with.

Now this…
The Gillette ad ran in January.

In February the company announced they were slashing their price on razors by up to 20%.
And this week Proctor and Gamble announced a slump in sales of their grooming products.
Via Market Watch

Sales of grooming products, including Gillette, slipped 1%, continuing a long string of declines. Margins disappointed. The upside earnings surprise came from non-operating items, like a tax-rate change.
Grooming products are 9% of P&G’s revenue.

Cut the cord.

Recently stayed at a hotel and turned on the tube. Could not believe the shit people are being fed. The longer you are off cable the more ridiculous the whole thing seems. $150 a month to litter your brain with shit is a steep price indeed.

I have me a nice local wireless ISP and watch a host of talented, original, educational content providers who actually produce videos of substance. Granted, most women wouldn’t enjoy the machine shop or boat building videos but I’ll never ever again pay for cable. The longer I’m away from it, the more certain I become of that statement.

When they ran that ad I sold all my PG stock and vowed to buy no more Gillete razors. Emailed them to tell them why too. Very stupid....would Tampax run an ad on psycho feminism? Of course not.....

Cut the cord years ago and haven’t looked back. We do have Netflix though, mostly for the kids shows. I’m no fan of google or YouTube but there are lots of videos out there of good content. Been watching a lot of low carb down under, hiking videos (homemade wanderlust is good, she did the AT, PCT & CDT) and I’ve just started on my self reliance, that guy would make a great gimmer......

as you can see from the charts, none of them are being affected by these social positions,

as for razor sales, not a shock
none of these young kids know how to use them anyway,

they are into the fem/man movement, trying to define their masculinity (of which they have none) by wearing some version of facial hair

To a point I can agree with you on that but as has been illustrated for years by numerous financial commentators the price to earnings ratio has long been meaningless. Most of these funds are held by huge funds who play round robin with each other taking the hit one day and cashing in on the profits the next. Wall Street has long ago become a rigged casino.

Some fools and idiots partake and do well on the table droppings but eventually they get squashed in the long run.

As an alternative to paying for Netflix, try Tubi. Its Nflix like but free. There are brief commercials and they dont play too often. Crappy movies just like Netflix but more stuff from the old days.

I use shave club. The handles for the dual razor is crap so I bought several. They send five dual razors a month, I use one. The rest go in the original box. when it's full I'll cancel my subscription and shave for a very long time without looking back. The blades are of good quality. I might shave five or six times a month so they get abused when used and one razor is good for about six shaves.

Latest Gillette Ad Features Dad Teaching Transgender Son To Shave For The First Time

Months after releasing an ad shaming all men for being 'toxic' pigs (while curiously cutting out a scene from the original ad featuring a booty-grabbing fake rap video), Gillette wants female-to-male trans individuals to know that once those hormones kick in, they've got your shaving needs covered.

Their new advertisement features the moment a loving dad teaches his transgender son, Samson Brown, how to shave for the first time, according to Gaystar News.

"I’m at the point in my manhood where I’m actually happy. It’s not just myself transitioning, it’s everybody around me transitioning," says Samson."

"Thank you so much Gillette," Samson commented under the ad on the company's Facebook page, adding "‘I look forward to the great things you’re going to continue doing to encourage us all to be our best selves."

"Thank you for sharing your story, Samson!" responded Gillette, in what was surely a natural and unscripted exchange surrounding their new ad campaign. "We’re honored to showcase this special moment between you and your father and are proud to have you as a partner. Thank you for your courage and confidence in sharing your journey to becoming your best self!" the shaving company continued.

In January, Gillette drew criticism for their short film on so-called 'toxic masculinity,' which begins with a montage of bullying and sexism - as a pack of wild, toxically masculine white boys tear around, leaving behind a wake of misery and abuse.

A narrator then goes on to suggest that "boys will be boys" is simply not going to fly anymore.

"Is this the best a man can get? Is it? We can’t hide from it. It has been going on far too long. We can’t laugh it off, making the same old excuses."

As of this writing, the ad has 791,000 thumbs up on YouTube, and 1.4 million thumbs down.

El Cheapo razors always served me fine, but if I was to worry about plastic pollution, while still wanting to shave, what would I switch too.

I got a couple of my dad’s or maybe grandpa’s old safety razors and put them back to work! The Schlick Krona ended up being my go to and is likely as old as I am!

All anybody ever has to do is stop playing and stop paying ... the "walk away" movement is applicable in almost every walk of life. Just quietly walk away. Leave them with their "transgender" business ....

My dad had one of these, when I was a kid. It’s a Gillette fat boy, from 1960, but it was Gillette back when they used to care about quality and their customer’s satisfaction. Way before the pc/sjw leftists took over marketing. It shaves really good! Uses a double edge blade and is adjustable from 1-9, so you can set the gap for your skin type and beard quality- heavy, medium or light. The reason they don’t make them anymore? My opinion is that they are so well built they basically last forever, if you just take care of them, so they can only sell you one. All you need to do is buy blades, which last you about four or five shaves before they need to be changed. There are still dozens of companies producing blades for these old safety razors. Gillette, when they were THE go to men’s product company!

These things are still available on eBay and very easy to clean up and make shave-ready. Just soak them in warm soapy water (Dawn dishwashing liquid) for an hour, or so, to loosen up any built up crud. Give them a decent brushing with any nylon brush (an old toothbrush will work). Then, soak them in barbicide for about 20-30 minutes, to kill any old bacteria growth. Dry well and polish with flitz, if you want it shiny. Pop in a blade and lather up and shave.

There are several outfits online that will do a complete tune-up or refurbish and will even replate it in nickel, rhodium or 24 karat gold, if you want to spend the money. I found the little clean up and disinfect protocol I described works just fine, if you find one in decent condition. To date them, there is a letter/number code on the bottom of the blade silo. D3 or 4 is third or fourth quarter of 1958; first year they made these old fat boys. An E code is 1959, an F code is 1960, etc., but F2 is the last date you want to buy. One of the refurbished guys states that’s the last year these things were built to be refurbished. They probably changed some materials after second quarter, 1960. Maybe from all brass to an alloy that can’t be replated.

That's the root of their problems right there yet they can't stop supporting the degenerates of society. It seems they all can't rush forward fast enough shoving their shoe squarely up their asses to get in with the whole diversity/acceptance crowd.

Yeah, dad shaved with one and when he replaced the blade he put the old one in a slot in the medicine cabinet that fell in the wall.
I tried using it early on and had not tightened down the blade far enough. Slid it down my jaw line at the wrong angle and flapped open some meat that bled for more than an hour, still scarred to this day. That was the last time for that piece of kit.
Use Schick now, with the moisture edge and I like how that piece flips away so one can get the all important under the nose area more easily. Get em on eBay. Was gonna get some at the local CVS but they are under lock and key. You need to get a razor officer to open the bin and you're required to stand 10 feet away with your hands folded atop your head and your back to them. Screw that. The scissors and nail files are out in the open, they must think someone will slash you with the moisturizer edge and abscond with some shaving cream eyeliner....for the transitioning person in your home.

I also recall as a toddler Friday Night Fights sponsored by Gillette...how the worm has turned.

Do you live here in the United States!?!? I would tell them to shove it, too. No way I would be treated like an inmate, just trying to buy their products.

Shoplifters feast on razors, and they are a quick sale at the flea market.

Agreed - but if you can't make a head shot, go for as much of the vitals as possible. Yeah, it's difficult , not impossible

The Gillette product line of razors and personal care products became part of Procter & Gamble when P&G bought the company in 2005. Razors are one of the most profitable businesses for P&G. The company's razors are used by 750 million men in more than 200 million countries, according to Euromonitor. But online sellers like Dollar Shave Club have dinged Gillette in the U.S. Market share is down significantly over the past decade from 70% in 2010 to below 50% in 2017, per Euromonitor. Sales were flat in 2018.

I buy double edge blades on Amazon. Not so often nowadays, because I have so many stockpiled. Here are my picks:

Feather (extremely sharp, expensive, hard to find under 25 cents)
Personna (almost as sharp as Feather)
Astra (very sharp)
Shark (very sharp)
Derby (sharp, very forgiving)

Except for Feather, most can be bought around ten to twelve cents in the hundred pack. Sometimes they can go as low as seven or eight dollars for 100.

I like Merkur and Edwin Jagger handles. They sometimes go on sale in the low $20s range. Lately I have been using a $12 Perfecto handle, and it works well with the above blades.

I do not like Dorco blades. Can't recommend them.

For shaving soap, I often use Arko sticks. They are probably at the bottom of decent shaving soaps, but it is fine for me.

Personna Medical blade is my go to! Tried a couple of the older G handles, but didn’t like them as much as the Schick!

Bought a mixed bag trial sample kit that had a 5 pack of most readily available blades. Most have slightly different feels, some better, several worse than the Personna blades, but they are easy to get in the inexpensive 100 packs and do a good job for the money,

Rite-Aid sells a 5 blade razor with about a years worth of blades for around $20. They're as good as any I've used.

Had a seven day growth after a road trip. There was a couple of new Gillette disposables in my bag so I used one. I had forgotten how Gillette builds their junk in a manner which, their razors glog with hair on the first swipe. Had to get out of the shower to finish with a shave club razor. Threw the Gillette junk in the trash. Nearly knocked the gel coat off the girlfriend’s shower trying to knock the beard out so I could finish before I gave up.
