It was just a crap shoot. The paper is heavy and quality which helped. We took most of it off dry and used moisture to get the paper plyable. Some very small areas were very stubborn, particularly where the drywall paper was not skimmed over. It pealed much better off of the floated areas.

So the real secret is just getting lucky. Sorry to disappoint.
Point, score for misty.

Took time to do a grade A masking job so I don't get wall texture all over tarnation. The taping also doubles as our caulk bead as demonstrated in my past posts. So first we'll caulk the tape 2 wall surface, then texture then paint. Got a second skim coat on the walls so will a do a quick wet sand before commencing with caulk, texture etc.

Considering I'm in a good mood let's just say that I'm less than impressed with the fireplace guys...

Not only did they leave the baseboards FUBAR, they used white quarter round around the base of the fireplace when the rest of the room has naturak wood quarter round. I hope they get hemorrhoids.

yeah new,

put some cabinets in a place,
made by merrillat

when they arrived and I installed them, there were all manner of objectionable things going on, loose end panels, finishes over construction defects, etc. It was quite a list.

when I brought it all up to the supplier, he told me they were top quality built by amish.

I told him, that is where the problem is. Go back and tell them to put away the chainsaws and figure out that newfangled technology, as clearly they have no idea what quality is.................

amish my ass

Around here the best cabinets come from good ol boys with a shop in the woods. Just came across some old locally hand-built oak cabinets the other day. There's no comparison.

Finished today. Two coats of Behr Marquee eggshell. The space was small enough that I decided to texture with cans instead of firing up my hopper.

Built this door out of salvage (except for the tinted dual paned tempered glass). 100+ year old long leaf pine, vintage lock set, brass kick plates, and hinges I bought off craigslist and have been dragging around for years.

All mortise and tenon construction,

and pegged. Built with a table saw and drill press.

Takes a lot of tools to repair a door!
Ended up replacing the door that had the broken glass insert with a new slab and different, more secure glass insert. The new door didn't quite fit the old frame(slightly shorter) so I had to make a bunch of adjustments including re-mortising two of the hinges, the latch and deadbolt. The old or also had an alarm so I had to get it transfered to the new door. It was just a recessed magnet with a screw through the middle. Also, the threshold was rotted so I transferred the part that adjusts with screws to line the bottom of the threshold up close to the door.

I certainly would have replaced the whole frame but unfortunately what was available wouldn't fit plus the stucco on the outside is formed around the door frame.

Nothing special...repurposed a useless coat closet that we used to hang 3-4 unused jackets. Closet is adjacent to our kitchen. Sorry for sideways pic

Frees up a lot of counter space, nice - my wife has her Instapot right in front of my knife cabinet, have to move the thing to get a knife.
