Worse Than the Depression: 1 in 6 Working Age Males Has No Job Under Obama

Jim Hoft Sep 7th, 2016 7:49 am 117 Comments

The numbers are in and after seven years of Obamanomics the economic climate in America is “worse than the depression.”

** Barack Obama is also the first president on record to not see a single year of 3% GDP growth.
The latest quarterly GDP rate was 1.1 percent.

NPR reported:

At 4.9 percent, the nation’s unemployment rate is half of what it was at the height of the Great Recession. But that number hides a big problem: Millions of men in their prime working years have dropped out of the workforce — meaning they aren’t working or even looking for a job.

It’s a trend that’s held true for decades and has economists puzzled.

In the 1960s, nearly 100 percent of men between the ages of 25 and 54 worked. That’s fallen over the decades.

In a recent report, President Obama’s Council of Economic Advisers said 83 percent of men in the prime working ages of 25-54 who were not in the labor force had not worked in the previous year. So, essentially, 10 million men are missing from the workforce.

“One in six prime-age guys has no job; it’s kind of worse than it was in the depression in 1940,” says Nicholas Eberstadt, an economic and demographic researcher at American Enterprise Institute who wrote the book Men Without Work: America’s Invisible Crisis. He says these men aren’t even counted among the jobless, because they aren’t seeking work.

Eberstadt says little is known about the missing men. But there are factors that make men less likely to be in the labor force — a lack of college degree, being single, or being black…

…Indeed, economists say technology and overseas competition are displacing many jobs.

Well! THAT's just plain wrong! We ARE in a recovery, right!?! These must be Trump-twisted statistics! They're lookin' to hire welders, CDL drivers, and burger flippers where I live. Granted, people are earning lower wages and those dollars don't go as far as they used to, but dammit! People ARE working and jobs ARE available! Why, there college graduates making a career out of flippin' burgers! Meanwhile, the hoity-toity welders will be getting laid off when the economy slows down but Hitlery won't let that happen because she will demand more missiles and bombs be produced to keep this country working! Yes! Long live the F-35!!! America is so great hardly anyone can stand it! Can't wait to show ol' Vlad Puddin' what America is really about!

The curse of the Kenyan. His plan appears to be working perfectly. He sure has implemented change but I'm struggling to believe in it

Locally,
Harley-Davidson to eliminate positions at Springettsbury plant

Harley-Davidson said Wednesday it plans to eliminate some unionized positions at its Springettsbury Township plant. The president of the local union said it's 117 positions.

Workers were notified at a town hall meeting Wednesday, said Brian Zarilla, president of International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers, Local 175.

Layoffs will begin around Oct. 10 and finish by the end of November, Zarilla said.

Bernadette Lauer, a Harley spokeswoman, said in an email, "We continually evaluate industry and market changes to provide the best products and services to our customers."

"To that end, we are adjusting our production plan to align with 2016 guidance and we are making the necessary changes to right-size the company," Lauer said.

When Harley announced second-quarter earnings on July 28, it said it expects to ship about 5,000 fewer motorcycles to dealers around the world this year than previously expected.

The company trimmed its forecast to 264,000 to 269,000 motorcycles shipped in 2016, down from a previous forecast of 269,000 to 274,000.

The stats are questionable. I would bet that 90% of that 1 in 6 have jobs of the under the table sort. Many are probably dope dealers/pimps/smugglers/thugs/thieves/professionally "disabled"/ day laborers etc... and they get free welfare money too ( the hooker and liquor bonus).

I would also bet that alot of these guys are doing these alternative occupations due to family law types digging into their lives and bankrupting them out of traditional employment.

Right Now We Have Longest Soup Lines In History of America, You Just Can’t See Them…

“Electronic Soup Cards”
That term, “electronic soup cards“, is simply brilliant. It is powerfully brilliant because it is entirely correct.

As a person who searches for simple word assemblies to covey significant issues, I must admit that concise terminology is the best turn of words I’ve heard in years.

Factually, if the number of American people on EBT or SNAP welfare benefits had to line up for soup and meals (instead of just get money on an electronic card for use anywhere), there would be massive lines, miles-long lines, all day and all night in hundreds of thousands of soup kitchens nation-wide. Such visibility would make the soup lines of the great depression seem insignificant by comparison.

The EBT and SNAP cards are exactly that, “Electronic Soup Cards”.

A couple of trips to town the last few days showed me something. All the service type places have help wanted signs, such as restaurants, auto part stores, big box stores, any "retail" positions have help wanted. The factories don't have such signs as far as I could tell, the only factory I know of that advertises for help pays a couple of bucks above minimum wage. We have factories here believe it or not. So doing some mental figuring, low wage retail jobs are not attractive to workers if they qualify for government benefits of some kind. The workers I do see in these jobs are either very young, very old, or people who are retired from some other employment and using said retail employment to supplement a retirement check. Lots of over 65 women working retail which is kind of surprising in a way.

Many guys are going MGTOW when they realize that big jobs are big responsibilities and fitting into the system is not the key to happiness. Most guys can live well on very little if they only have to look out for #1. Many of those corporate ceos are more broke than workers at mc dongalds who are not footing other people bills. It doesn't matter how much you make if the government takes half and two or three exes and 5 kids spend more than the rest. What matters is how much you keep. Many men are gladly abandoning their "privilege" to be held responsible for the actions of others -- and loving it.
