Nice smooth field on that US Cent but what a fuzzy foto

Many early zinc cents that I've seen have a 'rippled' effect on the field, as if the copper coating wasn't being applied properly

$4k for a zinc cent?
what don't we know?:don't know:

and why isn't it in a pcgs holder???

Just trolling for a reply. Actually I'd like to send it to a grading joint & see if it's dipped, electroplated or real,
Found it roll searching
Good luck! That would be a heck of a find. Not sure if your a member on Coin Talk but it's a coin nerd's dream forum. Those guys could tell you everything you'd want to know.

well o.k. then

I'm not into zinc cents but have often wondered if keeping a few nice graded 1983 cents wouldn't be a smart idea but the quality of circ coins was so bad and the mintage so high and there are so many cent collectors, I decided to spend my money elsewhere in the numismatic world

Personally, I'd just 2 x 2 that puppy and buy one that's already certified, toss 'em both on the heap and move on

That's basically what I've been doing since I found it been a few years.
Just a conversation piece now
